I've been using Total Plumbing for about 5 years now. Rich has been taking care of my HVAC system, and he does a great job on anything I've asked him to help with, whether it be maintenance, or even pairing our smart thermostat to our humidifier. Recently, I used them to have my main sewer line cleaned out and they did a great job. Their team was super helpful and courteous while onsite, and helped us clean out the mainline. We had a small misunderstanding regarding billing, and they were very helpful and quick in helping me get it resolved. Their team at the office is also very helpful at answering calls and questions as well. Easy to get ahold of them any time of the day any day of the week. I called them during a holiday weekend and there was quite an up charge for services. The technician helped be "tame" the issue so that I could reschedule for a non-peak day. Their honesty and consultation was worth the initial cost for the visit. My issue ended up being a broken dishwasher but the tech was able to do a thorough walk thru with suggestions on general plumbing issues - non urgent. I look forward to working with them next year when we have more cash-flow to tackle the non urgent plumbing. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! After having the main line to our house get a leak in it, we looked at several different plumbing options. We chose Total plumbing based on what seemed to be decent reviews, a decent price and availability. Boy, do I wish we would have made another choice. After showing up to start the job, their "foreman" was there for a few minutes, waited for someone else to show up, and then he took off. The other person waited outside for well over an hour before starting to do anything. After working into the night, we left to go get dinner, as our house was still a mess. We got home later, after they said they were "done" I awoke the next morning only to find water spewing from what they "fixed" and this process started all over again. Once they fixed that issue, a few days had passed, and our sprinklers went off as planned, yet one zone was just GUSHING water and mud out on to our side walk. In calling them to fix this process, they stated that they don't fix irrigation lines. That said this even after I presented them with the email correspondence we had before, in which they said: "We will make the necessary repairs if we hit lines that we see during the excavation process" Then when we were trying to work with them to get this fixed, they threatened to sue us if we didn't pay in full with in 24 hours. We paid them, but now we will have to deal with taking them to court to get this paid for. There are a lot of plumbers out there, deal with one that finishes their job. This is our third plumber, the first two were expensive and didn't solve the problem, but this company is terrific. We had lots of issues, toilet flushing, hot water not hot enough, etc.,Total plumbing used the least cost, but best solutions, had extensive knowledge, loved to solve hard problems, great service guy (Randy). Our other two plumbing companies always started with most expensive options. This company even told me to put 2 cups water w 1 t vegetable oil mixed and pour down drain that drains water heater, that will prevent sewer gases from coming back up into our basement utility room. I too had Randy come by and help me out with a cast iron kitchen drain that had started leaking. The pipe went through the kitchen floor, into my laundry room where it had cracked open and was leaking water on the floor. Randy sawed the broken pipe off and put in a 3' length of PVC with the appropriate clamps. The company gets docked a star because the dispatcher failed to tell me that weekend calls were double the cost $174/hr instead of $88/hr for labor. From what I was told, Total Plumbing is a large company with about 16 service guys out in the field and about 150 employees total. I'll be sure to call them again for an estimate on future work... just not on weekends. read more

Recently have a Heater done by Rob, which leads to a reference of an AC fix by Rich, a long standing problem which other companies caused and did not fix. Both are experienced in their field, and have good observation, testing and debugging skills. If the haunting problem is fixed which I will see after one year warranty, they deserve the five star. Additional comment Oct. 2012: we had an AC not starting problem recently not sure related to previous issue. Called Total Plumbing, and Richard came after a long working day and fixed it. From upgrading my hot water heater to a tankless system, to fixing my A/C on a 98+ day, this company has come through and through. Total Plumbing was awesome. They replaced a PRV that regulates the water pressure to my house. I called (late afternoon), I was given an immediate estimate and scheduled me the next morning. The office called me the next day to tell me they were on their way. Skip, was on time and very nice. He went right to work and was done within a hour. To keep it short, Total Plumbing was called out to investigate a gas fired residential grade water heater. There was a spare gas fired water heater available to install. Total Plumbing opted to convince the manager that a much less efficient electric water should be installed in its place and invoiced us $2,974. That is not an error. $2,974 to replace one residential water heater. Total Plumbing charged us $92 per hour for 15 hours just to install the electric water heater. Then Total Plumbing sub contracted with an electrician and paid them $850 to wire the water heater. Total Plumbing stated in an invoice that while they sub-contracted with the electrician they were not familiar with the rates they charge. Upon our initial complaint Total Plumbing cited math and clerical errors and offered a $652 refund. In a second email, Total Plumbing cited "confusion" and offered an additional $47 refund. Then in a voice mail Total Plumbing reneged on the refund and refused to refund. We just filed a complaint with the Denver Better Business Bureau about Total Plumbing. In this day and age of concerns of energy costs and pollution, Total Plumbing "sold" an inefficient electric water heater that uses fossil fuels to generate power and replaced a clean burning efficient gas water heater and charged $2,974 to do it. read more

Randy came back a second time to run the copper piping where it would be needed for sink, shower and toilet. Everything went smoothly and the water was back on in no time. On the third (and final) visit a vent was installed along with the new water heater and putting in the new shower basin. Again we managed to squeeze the inspections in while I was at home and Randy was working. Everything went well and I have no complaints. Randy even showed me how I could do a small side job myself and save a few bucks. Excellent job guys!! read more

I have hired Total Plumbing several times. They've come out to fix a leaky faucet that another plumber had messed up, they replaced my garbage disposal and my kitchen faucet, and replaced all the innards in my toilet tank. Each time the plumber was friendly, professional, and helpful. They have been able to schedule same day appointments without a problem when needed or will come a week later if that's what I want. Their rates are reasonable and because they charge by the hour, they don't have to come out to look at the job first, they can give quotes over the phone. They also keep sending me coupons for discounts on future work, so I always get a discount on the job. I will definitely use Total Plumbing again. read more

MTech came to fix a leak. He did nothing and charged me $170. He was at my house maybe 20 minutes. $170 is their minimum charge to come to your house. That is crazy. He wanted to cut a hole in my wall. I did not let him. The leak is back and it had nothing to do with a pipe in my wall. It was the drain. Do not use this company. read more

I contacted Total Plumbing and spoke to Chris T. who was quick to respond to our request for an estimate to install a new water heater (and take away our old one). Reasonable price and the best part, we were able to schedule this work rather quickly, which was great, because we found out our old water heater was old and needed to be replaced. And who the heck wants to be without hot water, especially now that winter is upon us? Ken and Brad were the technicians who came (on time, I might add, love the promptness of this company!), removed the old water heater and installed a new one in just a couple of hours (we live in a condo building). I used Total Plumbing several years ago and they were great. Unfortunately, things seem to have changed since then. The first time I tried to have them out, they called at the last minute and cancelled because of a staff meeting - after I had taken the morning off from work. The second time I tried to have them come out, they told me they would be there at 8am but booked me in a 2 - 5pm window. Again, I didn't find out until after I had taken time off from work. Maybe they still have a great team but I won't know because my time is valuable and I cannot afford to have it wasted sitting around hoping they'll show up. read more

I would recommend these folks even though they did no work for me. They stopped in to a rental of ours in a difficult downtown location to check out a leaky tub. They were late but we were scheduled at the end of the day - tech called and kept us informed. When on location, he did a complete inspection and determined it was a building issue. I am editing this review because I am seeing the charge twice in my account and my available balance is now impacted on a Friday before a vacation. I left a message last night and no one called back today so I called them and talked to two friendly people one rude person and one unhelpful person. Looks like they put a hold for the funds to do the work initially and then charged the funds without releasing the hold. They said it would stay on there until it released. I know how merchant systems work and every one else can seem to handle charging my card appropriately, if they can't do that and I have to waste my time and have insufficient funds based on someone else's mistake maybe they should not be in business. They suggested this was a problem with my bank (Wells Fargo). They should have attempted to release the hold or reverse the charge and maybe say sorry? I will assume this will clear itself before too long but this is bad business and my rating reflects it. read more

I had a problem with sewage backing up into my basement and a problem with roots getting into my pipes. Initially I had one of the larger companies come out and they quoted me an exorbitant amount, so I sent them away. I ended up getting Aaron from Total Plumbing, he was extremely knowledgeable and reasonably priced - actually less than half what the other company had quoted. He also discouraged me from doing a few things another plumber had recommended, and very thoroughly explained why. I was impressed with the high tech devices, extensive knowledge, timelines of getting out to my house during my crisis, and reasonable pricing. I have found it very difficult to find a good, affordable and trustworthy plumber in Denver, and now I finally have one. I would highly recommend Aaron and this company! read more

This company is honest and reliable. Other larger companies (talking about you, Applewood) may have more staff and be able to set appointments more quickly, but Total does not overcharge and their technicians are very helpful and good at explaining issues/suggestions. read more

Horrible - work requested was not completed. Put my job 3 weeks behind schedule and $600 over budget. Technician did work he wanted to do, not work I asked him to do. Flooded my unit. Spoke with a manager after the incident who said he would apply a bit a of credit to my account to make up for the situation - of course that never happened. We needed to repair a belly in our sewer line, and Total Plumbing was the most reasonable bid out there by far. Trevor was very knowledgeable and explained the process well. The guys were in and out in one day, even though they had to dig under our driveway to access the repair. They even came back to scope the line after the repair to give us peace of mind. This business is fantastic. They really know how to take care of their customers. I had my main drain line from my kitchen sink that needed to be replaced. I got bids from other companies one said it would be 3300 for the work that needed to be done. I called total plumbing and they quoted me at 900 dollars. This is what I ended up being charged exactly as quoted no more no less. The plumbing work is fantastic and everything is draining smoothly. The only concern that came up is that their plumber left some of the extra material in our back yard. A bucket of some sludge and some cut pipes. My new puppy drank the sludge and I ended up having to take her to an emergency vet. This cost me 500 dollars. I contacted Total Plumbing and told them the situation. They asked me for the record from the vet and they would see what they could do. After I faxed the vet record I got a call the next day apologizing and explaining that they would take care of the vet bill. They earned themselves a customer for life. At no point did they ever try to bend me over and the work they did was phenomenal. I would suggest them to any friend or family member. read more
