The lady who I spoke to said "did they need an authorization", when I'm clearly on an HMO. Then they put the order under routine and have since denied making it STAT. I expressed losing sensation in my hand and extreme fatigue, but it's not enough to make it STAT. What should be considered STAT then?

During that visit, he informed me that my ejection fraction was around 40. Understandably, that was difficult news for me to hear--especially since I have very high health-related anxiety and PTSD from a previous cardiac arrest during surgery with another cardiologist. After delivering my baby and once things settled down, I sought out Dr. Castellanos to establish care with him as my primary cardiologist. I needed someone with good bedside manner but who could also be direct and honest. I was upfront about my anxiety and asked that he be gentle while still being straightforward, and he has respected that. At times, when Dr. Castellanos is busy, I see Haide (I believe she is a nurse practitioner). Initially, I wasn't thrilled--when you're not feeling well, you want to see the doctor directly. However, Haide completely changed my mind. She is absolutely amazing. She brings me so much comfort, is incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and very thorough. She truly takes the time to listen. Whether I'm seeing Dr. Castellanos or Haide, I always come in with a list of questions, and they never make me feel rushed. They take the time to answer everything thoughtfully, which means so much when you're dealing with a serious heart condition. The office also has a PA named Kyla, who is very nice, though most of my care has been with Dr. Castellanos and Haide. I highly recommend this office and their entire staff. It was the end of the day so I thought that may have impacted her bedside manner. Recently, I requested a refill of my birth control medication that was prescribed by my previous PCP. After 2 days and no response, I sent a MyChart message and I got a response saying Dr. Boos said I would need to see a gynecologist for this prescription. As a former primary care doctor myself, I was shocked by this response. Prescribing birth control is a basic component of women's health that every PCP I've ever had and known as a colleague has done without question. Needless to say I will be finding a new doctor.
