My experience with this rheumatology office was very frustrating. The office organization was poor on multiple occasions. My CT scans and bloodwork were not being printed or handled correctly, which made the process feel disorganized and stressful. The doctor did order some testing, including a muscle biopsy, but I did not feel that the biopsy process was coordinated well. There did not seem to be clear agreement between all of my doctors about which side/muscle should be biopsied. When the biopsy came back negative, the conclusion seemed to be that I did not have myositis, even though I had multiple other findings and symptoms that still needed to be explained. I left feeling dismissed and without a clear plan. I understand that a negative biopsy is important, but I expected a more thorough explanation of my abnormal markers, MRI findings, symptoms, and next steps. in 2017 I saw Dr leehealy. She suggested I could have fibromyalgia. It took me 25 years to figure out the root cause of my health issues including the debilitating fatigue and headaches. I feel like Dr. Leehealey did not thoroughly check my history and symptoms for a first visit. I wouldn't expect her to be proactive about my care. Also, it has been a struggle to get her to order my prescription. I've been calling her office for 3 days to request the prescription and now I am all out of one medication. She promised but didn't write any progress note or sent prescriptions too. Somewhat careless too -- I requested to call back at a different number because my phone was stolen yet they still left the voicemail at my old number anyways. Positive is that she doesn't seem like someone to overtreat you or give you hassles so she may be a good fit if you are stable with your remission and can make sure to call in at least 1-2 weeks ahead for your prescriptions. read more

My experience with Dr. Leehealey was terrible. The initial visit took quite a few months to get.. once I saw her she ordered a few labs that she told me would be ready within a week. It took about two weeks and I kept calling and the office staff told me she opened my messages a few days ago but hadn't gotten back to me. As a very anxious person this was not a good experience for me. Once I finally received my diagnosis she was incredibly cold and didn't really give me any information.. I relayed this to my primary doctor who was supposed to receive my updated charts (she never received them). I even called them to give them her fax number. My primary stressed that I needed to call Dr. Leehealey to get any questions about my medication and diagnosis answered immediately. When I called I was told I needed to make a follow up appointment.. I already had one that I had been waiting three months for.. I said I just had some questions about my medication and wanted to speak with her.. Finally I had enough and started to look for a new rheumatologist and I received a call from her office thinking I was finally going to speak to Dr. Leehealey, only to once again hear from her lovely staff telling me she would not speak to me on the phone and wanted an appointment.. The worst Doctor.....Don't waste your time. I explained my symptoms, Fever, sore throat, headache, body aches. I was in her office for 15 minutes. This was how she helped me. The next time you get those symptoms go get bloodwork and then call me????? At That appointment she billed my insurance company $360.00 my co-pay was $75, she is now billing me for my co-pay and Ive already paid. she did a Tele-Visit for 10 minutes and billed insurance company for an in office appointment $360 plus a $75.00 Co-pay. Long story short: * Ran no blood work on me specific to her diagnosis * Prescribed me steroids for a week and claimed this supported her diagnosis because I felt better on the steroids (who doesn't feel good on steroids) * After that she placed me on anti-malarial drugs without any further testing to confirm her diagnosis * Got second opinion and doctor blasted Leehealey's professionalism and her horrible diagnosis skills Furthermore: * Leehealey is cold and sociopathic, she doesn't have an empathetic bone in her body. * Impatient and rushed me out of her office with every visit. * Doesn't read literature to keep up with developments in her field. Claims because things are not yet clinical they are irrelevant. Simply put, she either lost her passion or never had the passion to begin with. I'm reviewing on behalf of my husband, who has been a patient of Dr. Leehealey for the past few years. This doctor and office is absolutely terrible. My husband has been without his psoriatic arthritis medication multiple times because this office is so disorganized and terrible with communication. You cannot reach anyone on the phone. You must always leave a voicemail, and they NEVER call back. He has had to go to the office in person just to get them to answer the pharmacy's refill request. He has, again, been without his medication for over two weeks because they will not respond to the pharmacy's refill request. His arthritis is now flaring up and he has no one to help. The doctor does not use My Chart or any electronic messaging system. Her staff is inept and disorganized. He has made an appointment with a new rheumatologist that will hopefully see him next week so he can get back on his medication. Also, she tried to double bill you. He pays his copay at the time of visit, then she sends you a bill in the mail. He's gone over there WITH proof of payment, but they said they will not accept any proof unless you FAX it over. He said "why can't I just email a screenshot of my bank statement that shows I paid?" and they said it has to be faxed. Ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and keep searching for your new rheumatologist. I struggled to find a doctor who would believe me about my symptoms for at least a decade, and was written off every time, so for many years I gave up and just dealt with it -- constant pain, neurological symptoms, everything just became an annoying part of my everyday life. When I started getting sicker and losing the ability to function normally, I started researching rheumatologists and found a few reviews saying that Dr. Leehealey was the person to go to when nobody else could figure it out. Not only did she listen and believe what I was telling her, but she asked me questions that no other doctor had ever thought to ask -- one office visit and one round of bloodwork later, and I finally had a diagnosis. She set up a treatment plan for me and was very knowledgeable on the forms I needed to fill out for disability protection at my job. My life will never be the same, but I know that Dr. Leehealey has my back. I only wish I had found her years ago and avoided all of that suffering in the meantime. I have been going to Dr Leehealey for over 3 years. She is a very good doctor and like another review had been dealing with a rare disease for over 20 years. Yes it is hard to get a diagnosis on because it takes at least 3 tests and observation to confirm but Dr Leehealey seems to be up to date and very knowledgeable on not only it but anything that is involved. Her staff is not the best but after you establish their weakness and understand that she is one of the best you will learn to work around them. To their credit after learning how to get around that you realize that maybe they are very busy and trying to do their best for her. When I have emergencies there is no problem and that is the most important thing for me. Then I want my calls returned and so far no problem so I gave her 5 stars in spite of her staff. I don't understand the bad ratings here, although they are old. My experience is the opposite. Dr. and staff were very nice. I forgot to bring my insurance card, but they didnt make a big deal about it. I arrived 10 minutes early, but there was no one in the waiting room. I completed a few forms and was shown into a room where vital signs were taken by a courteous lady. Dr. arrived a short time later and actually asked me what hurt. She even took her own notes. She listened to my ailments and proposed blood tests to see what is causing my pain. I have another appointment in 3 weeks and I look forward to it. read more

Dr. Leehealey seemed very rushed and distracted during my appointment. She told me I needed to get deep sleep in order for my body to recover and rest due to my RA. She then suggested I try anti depressants for sleep after I told her my previous rheumatologist tried it but it actually made it harder for me to sleep. She cut me off when I was explaining that to her and wrote me a prescription for Trazadone, but didn't mention that it was another anti depressant. After trying the medication for a week, I called the office and let receptionist know that the Trazadone made it more difficult for me to sleep. The Dr. then wrote me a prescription for ANOTHER anti depressant called Nortriptyline which, surprise surprise, did the same thing. It kept me wide awake all night with my heart racing. After calling once again and letting the receptionist know, the doctor told me to just self medicate with over the counter Benadryl. The whole time, she never even considered a treatment plan for my RA/Fibromyalgia. She just wanted to prescribe anti depressants. On top of that, during my first visit, after I explained my history with RA, she asked "Why are you here? For a second opinion?" like she never had the intention of treating me longterm for my condition. I felt like I was just another invoice to the insurance company for her. I have been seeing Dr. Leehealey for about 10 years to help with my RA. She is great with a needle! If you need an injection into a joint she's the one you want. I was taking a medication for years that started to not work so well. I started on LDN (low dose Naltrexone) for my symptoms (from another Dr.). When I talked to Dr. Leehealey about prescribing it for me she said that she wouldn't because it's an off label use for the medication. Never mind that it's been proven safe for decades...Instead she prescribed a biologic with all kinds of side effects. I provided her with information but that didn't seem to matter. Seems to me that the drug companies are dictating what Doctors are prescribing, and the Doctors are letting them. I haven't been back to see her because I don't have confidence that she will do he best thing for me. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. This is going to be a lengthy post but worth reading if you are considering going to her. I was recently diagnosed with an auto immune disorder and was having troubles finding a rheumatologist. My primary referred me to Dr. Leehealey and said that she was the "best of the best". Unfortunately, I had to wait 3 months to see her because she was booked up which is totally understandable if she really was the best of the best. 3 days prior to my appointment I called to confirm because I hadn't heard anything from their office. No response and no call back after leaving my voicemail. 3 days passed and I arrived to the office for my appointment with my mom. It took Dr. Leehealey 45 minutes to get to my room. I told her all of my symptoms and changes that have happened to me in the last couple of months accompanied by blood results and MRIs that I had gotten done. She said majority of it is because im anxious.. LOL and prescribed a medication that was reduce my symptoms and wanted me to get more bloodwork done. I left the office not feeling satisfied but was ready to start the medication to see if it would help. I started the medication on Tuesday 5/28/19, on Wednesday night I had a severe flare up and strange marks that appeared on my forearm. It was such a severe flare up that I considered going to the ER but I decided to ride it out and try to calm down. On Thursday morning I called Dr. Leehealeys office, no answer so I left a voicemail stating that I had an extreme flare up and the symptoms have persisted throughout the night. I called again that day and no answer, so I left another voicemail. I did not hear back from her so I went into my primary that day and she advised that I should stop taking the medication because it seemed like I had an allergic reaction from it and to call my rheumatologist again to discuss what I should do. Still no response from her office. I waited until Tuesday 6/2/19 to reach out to her office again to obtain the bloodwork and talk to her about my flare up from the previous week.. went straight to voicemail again so I left a message. 3 hours later her front office called me and stated that Dr. Leehealey would get back to me that day.. she never did. I called the following day Wednesday 6/5/19 and finally someone answered! I stated how frustrated I was that I had not heard anything from Dr. Leehealey for almost a week and was promised a call the previous day and never heard back. The front desk woman proceeded to tell me that she sees a note in my chart that the Dr did call me back and left a voicemail. No voicemail or missed call showed up on my phone or my secondary number. I asked the woman if I could get a return call from Dr. Leehealey that day, she responded by telling me she would pass the message along and that Dr. Leehealey would get back to me that day. She didn't. Today 6/6/19 I still hadn't heard from her so I called the office AGAIN and it went to voicemail. I left a message stating that at this point I would just like a copy of my blood results so I can go somewhere else. 2 hours later I received a call from Dr. Leehealey herself! She said " I understand you had a flare up last week and negative side effects from the medication" I said yes and I haven't heard from you for a week. I left 2 voicemails the day after the flare up and have called your office for the last week almost everyday and haven't heard from you. She said " well we didn't receive your 2 voicemails that day". WOW!! Well I have been calling the same number and leaving messages almost everyday on the same answering machine. She also claimed that she called me back on Tuesday and left a voicemail on my machine regarding my blood work. LIES! There was no missed call or voicemails on my machine or my home phone. When I told her I called on Wednesday 6/5/19 to follow up for the 5th time she said " well I didn't check my messages yesterday." She was extremely rude, accusatory and unapologetic over the fact that herself and her front office have neglected to contact me for an entire week!!! I have never had worse care or service in my entire life. DO NOT GO TO HER. To not return calls for a week is one thing, I understand that they get very busy, but to not even apologize to me for the wait was APPALLING!! I cannot stress enough to not go to her. Horrible experience. The doctor is very cold , rushing you and all she cares is money. For the bloodwork results she will make you to come in ( or have zoom appointment these days) and pay a copay just for her to look at the results. Last time I did come to the office just for her to spend 5 mins with me. This time I refused to set an appointment with copay. I have been a patient of Doctor Leehealey since I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and she has been one of the best. Initially my primary care physician referred me to another rheumatologist who ended up being one of my worst nightmare. I called my Primary and told her my awful experience and then she referred me to Doctor Leehealey and I couldn't be happier. Doctor Leehealey takes the time to answer all your questions. Truly heartbroken. I've been seeing Dr. Leehealey for 5 years and have been very happy with her treatment. Recently, I have had a bad work situation that has exacerbated chronic pain and anxiety conditions. After explaining my work situation, Dr. Leehealey strongly encouraged me to report my situation to my Human Resources office, and she gave me a letter writing me off work until my work location was changed. I took this letter to my Human Resources office that day, and they rejected the letter because they said it needed to contain what the problem was with my work location and what my restrictions were. I called Dr. Leehealey's office and explained the situation and told her that I typed out a letter with all the information that my HR manager requested and that I would drop it off first thing in the morning, which I did. I told the receptionist that I had an appointment with HR at 2:00 p.m. that day and they wanted me to bring the letter with me. I hadn't heard anything from Dr. Leehealey's office by 1:30, so I started trying to call the office. I tried for 45 minutes and each time, got the answering machine, so I decided to just go to the office. When I arrived, the receptionist went in the back to see if the letter was ready, but came back up and told me that Dr. Leehealey said that she would not be able to do it until Monday (this was on a Thursday). Given that Dr. Leehealey had encouraged me to go to HR, I was surprised that she was making me wait what would be 3 more work days, when she had already written me off work and knew the condition that I was in. Confused, I asked the receptionist if she would let her know that I had to go to HR that day, so the receptionist went back again and came back with the same answer. At this point, I was on the brink of an anxiety attack and asked the receptionist if she would ask the doctor if I could speak with her for a moment, so she went to the back again, and came back with the same answer. I was crushed! She wouldn't even speak with me! How could my doctor of 5 years encourage me to go to Human Resources and provide a note removing me from work, but wash her hands of me when HR rejected the note because they needed more information? I even wrote a draft letter with the information that my HR department needed. I had an appointment with her the day before and she knew that I was in significant pain and majorly depressed, but she washed her hands of me at the time that I truly needed her assistance. So heartbroken, but I would never be able to go back to a doctor who truly didn't care that I was needlessly suffering when it would have taken no more than 5 minutes of her time to resolve the issue that she encouraged me to initiate. read more

I was referred to Doctor Leehealy by my primary physician Dr. Kaleena Hwang. My experience with Dr. Leehealy has been less than satisfactory because I do not like to be late for appointments and am therefor 15 minutes early but still have to experience long waiting periods before finally seeing a doctor. With my first appointment, after finally being helped I was put in a room where after an additional fifteen minute wait, I was redirected to another room without explanation, there I waited again an additional 15 minutes before finally seeing the good doctor with No apologies or explanation given. My bad experience continued when office staff failed to return my telephone requests for lab results and scheduling for future appointments. Telephone calls made to the office are frequently answered by a recording that they are busy with other patients (There are three people behind the desk in a two doctor office) With my second visit, I was again fifteen minutes early for my ten thirty appointment. After paying my $15.00 co pay I sat down and waited ten minutes before being placed in a room where after my blood pressure was taken and a questionnaire was filled out I waited again, after an hour I still had not been seen by the doctor and since I had another appointment I had to leave. No offer of a refund for my Co Pay was given nor was I questioned about the need for another appointment. read more
