When they find out that you are a cat lover, they might introduce you to the store cats, which are amazing. This is definitely a specialty store which has an entire room for raw food for cats and dogs. The ambiance of the store is fun and fanciful, which adds to the fun of shopping here. Instead of it being one big space, there are 3 rooms, and the cashier's in the center of the main room, surrounded by cat and dog toys. The prices are much better than in Portland. If you feel like getting out of town, and coming down to Sherwood, stop by Nature's Pet, for a fun explore.

Needing cat food, I wandered over to the dry food section and was thrilled to see they had Nulu, which not all pet stores carry. My cat loves the food, and I like the hairball management variety because it truly works. In addition to a large variety of healthy food choices for cats, dogs and other pets, they have all the supplies - beds, leashes, crates, carrying cases, scratch pads - and lots of toys and treats. We got there about 20 mins before opening and were first in line. The one main suggestion I have is that there be a space/room where you can interact with the potential pet you want to adopt. It was hard trying to hold the kitten and not let her on the ground to play/interact with her. The staff were great with answering questions. Second suggestion would be to give out numbers when people walk in so there is some order. It was a little chaotic since we were there for a kitten and there were other potential cat owners that were being a little aggressive about trying to push past us when we were walking upstairs to see the kittens and trying to claim the kitten they wanted that they saw online. Luckily for us it wasn't the same kitten my daughter was there to meet. Once again this wasn't CAT's fault, but wish there was maybe a more structured way to avoid these types of interactions to happen. It was a little jarring to say the least. Pushing past 2 adults and 2 kids could have made any of us fall down the stairs. They weren't even second in line so that means they were pushing past several people to "be first". The staff does a great job walking you through the adoption process. We were given a complimentary first vet check-up waiver (which was honored by our vet). We were also given a bag of food to take home that our kitten was used to eating. We didn't have a carrier and we were able to purchase a carrier box for $8.00. Also they some times have more pets for potential adoption than what is showing online. If they come in later in the day or early morning these cats may not be on their website yet. Overall our experience was wonderful (minus the overly aggressive woman who was screaming and trying to race us upstairs). You can tell the staff love their jobs, made the adoption process easy and appreciated all the information they shared throughout the adoption process.

At first, I brushed off the occasional negative encounters as a fluke.... but it's definitely a trend. Thank you to Sarah at Petco, south Tigard ... for grooming my "aggressive" dog today. I had taken…read morehim to another groomer here in town when I first arrived I'm May or June. She called me to come get Oliver after 15 minutes of her starting his grooming, because he was so bad. ‍ (I'd never heard that in 6 years of having him, and regular grooming, with various groomers!) She even said he had tried to bite her (she told me she had her arm around her head, trying to "calm him down??" ) Anyway, after being fearful (I'm sorry) of Petco's grooming salon, I saw how well Sarah had done on Alicia's dogs, so chatted with Sarah, and she felt she could "handle" Oliver. It turns out he adored her, gave her kisses right away, and didn't so much as lift a lip to warn her of anything while she groomed. She said he did great, and he even gave her kisses on the table. I believe this, as he wanted to stay after he was done!! She also had to shave out mats, and blend in, where I had hacked (lovingly) with scissors. I am beyond pleased with the outcome. I highly recommend her, I was so worried after how terrible the other grooming experience had been in town. Thank you, Petco! Thank you, Sarah!
