It's a small but warm and inviting place. It's crowded though and while we were perusing around, I was afraid I'd bump into something and break it. We used to go to Glazed Art but they've closed down so this is another option for us. The people working there were nice. It's a bit expensive so we don't plan on doing this that often. A small figurine 2-3 inches tall is already $16 - yikes! They didn't have a big cup that was on display for painting which was unfortunate. We picked up our item within the time frame that they said they would have it ready. The bathroom was clean. They had lots of brushes and paints but I wished they kind of prepped us as to where everything was. I only saw the paints with the tips later on and wished I would have used that instead. Since the place is so small, the seats and chairs are pretty compact as well - just something to keep in mind. It would be nice to have a little handy tip guide for beginners posted - aka for more detailed strokes, use this brush, to make these designs- use these templates, etc. I didn't know they have these cut outs. I saw someone using them but I don't know where they got it from. Oh, don't forget to have your card stamped!! Will be back but it will be a while since they are quite pricey. read more

Cutesy, pottery painting studio. I like how it is independent and not franchise based like "Color me mine" in various parts of the country. The service was slim as we were first time patrons. However it was pretty straight forward to know what to do. You pick an item, wipe it down with a sponge, then grab paint bottles/glazes on the shelf. There are many 4 person individual tables which makes it a relaxing activity. They have a small bathroom inside the studio. Items range $6-$40 depending on size. It will be 7-10 days before the item is ready for pick up. No time limit on the table/area use. You can bring snacks or purchase at the store. Easy parking. Just went in today with my 4 year old bc I didn't want to make the trek to crossroads and I'm really glad we came here. Anna was great at helping us get set up since it was our first time painting pottery. I wasn't sure my energetic 4 yo would have the patience to paint the recommended 3 coats but he was able to do 2 - 3 coats depending on the area (completely missed some areas on the handle though). He also had a blast and asked if we could come back and paint more things soon - think we will be back to paint mugs for the grandparents next. We also needed a bit of a rush on the project and they were able to accommodate us and will have it ready in 5-6 days instead of their usual 7. Just a note - if you have a kid, have them paint a thick coat instead of a thin coat of paint so that you don't have to do 3 thorough coats and if you're wondering what happens if you don't paint the recommended 3 coats, you can just see the strokes more is all. I also learned that telling my kiddo to put more yellow over the blue mistakes on the handle and letters didn't work - the blue came through anyway. read more

It is a nice place for people who love the Art of painting ceramics, especially for children, they can really have a fun time. My advice for this business is just needs better stocking. What I like most is the area where Mudhouse Pottery Painting is located, it is very quit, country and picturesque. Practically behind, only few steps away you can see a small and beautiful river that I think but I am not pretty sure comes from the mountains of Issaquah which inspire a slight relaxation and contact with Nature. read more

Lost our pottery and did not even make effort to contact us to explain what happened, we had to reach out multiple times to see the status of our "lost" pottery. There seems to be a lack of organization and communication that seems ridiculous for the high prices and time we spent completing our pieces. Came here with 2 young kids. The place has lots of tables and chairs. Many choices to choose from plates ,bowls, cool figurines for just about anybody. And prices are not that bad either. The person that goes over the how and whys weren't too helpful. If we needed more sponges or our water bowls refilled you basically do it yourself. The person helping seemed more interested on her cell phone. There was also a propane smell in there that came and went. And it was a very hot day so it was just their slightly cooled ventilation. It was giving me a headache so we left right after. We mentioned it to the worker but she just brushed it off. read more

I was totally impressed with the selection of items to paint, color choices and painting techniques (stamps, washes, sponges, tape, even feathers). The service was also awesome, Anna was super patient, fixed some of our mistakes and cleaned up our mess...which was substantial. Wow! This place is amazing! Such a warm welcome and helpful and friendly staff. Make you feel so comfortable and take care of all the clean up. I almost felt guilty just making a mess and leaving it all there but they insist on taking care of everthing. All you have to worry about is your art peice. Very Enjoyable. As much as I enjoy painting ceramics this place was not as good as Glazed Art in Renton. This place was super cramped and felt like a small zoo. We still stayed and began painting. Had to ask for help since nobody offered. All the paint is unorganized and mixed up and I heard the employee tell someone else asking for a certain color that "someone else must be using it." So no extra paint bottles and you are out of luck on that color? The ceramics are extremely close to most of the seats so it's awkward looking for a piece because you are hovering behind other people. The worst part was we found a spot to sit and were in the middle of our focused painting when the employee asked us to move! What the hell?? She says a party is coming .... we were in a row of 16 seats all empty... she makes us move and carries our stuff to a new assigned seat right next to someone else. The party came 30 minutes later and there were 8 people.... there were 8 empty seats left including the ones we got moved from. This alone made me determined to give them a crap review. Then we were jammed next to the paints with bad lighting and all the new people were discussing paints right next to us... this place also has terrible acoustics because you can hear every single conversation taking place in here. This was not a peaceful painting experience!!!! Just people walking by would shake the floor and shake the tables besides brushing up against my chair! The employees were not helpful and actually invasive since the only time they'd come over to us to make us move or take our sponges! What the hell? Maybe you guys need more sponges and more paint!!!! And some organization strategies!!!! I'm mind blown it has a 4.5 star rating at the moment because I had high expectations coming in and wish I went to Glazed Art in Renton instead. read more

I love painting pottery and remember when there were several shops on the eastside back in the day. But they always seem to come and go, in and out of business. This place had a groupon and so I snagged it up and a couple of my best girl friends and we made a trek out to issaquah to get our paint on for some mother's day gifts. The gals working there were really helpful and friendly. They would periodically come by and check in on us, get us some fresh water for the brushes and see if we needed anything. FYI It takes a week to get them fired in the kiln. I definitely would come back here again :D We also lucked out because there were no birthday parties so it was pretty quiet in there. read more

Another great little shop in Gillman Village! It is great for children and adults alike! Mudhouse Pottery is by far the most affordable pottery painting shop in the area; it is several dollars cheaper than similar shops. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They are always willing to give painting tips and design suggestions. The shop also has a decent selection of glazes, stencils, and additional painting tools. The only downside is that the store is a little small. There are several tables, but they are very close together. With the tight spaces, it is easy to bump someone while painting - so be careful! read more

Disappointing. I went with my daughter on a non-busy morning. My daughter started her project but ran out of paint, and there was no replacement paint. They were out of stock. The clerk was rude during the process, unwilling to replace the piece, making it difficult and unpleasant. An ok place, but needs better stocking and customer care ethics. read more

Great place for kids. Brought my niece here last Sunday around 430ish and the place had quite a few open tables. They have a good selection of items to choose from (bowls, mugs, plates, tiles, figurines, ornaments,etc). Not sure whether it's a self service kind of place, but we helped ourselves to everything. The staff seemed to be glued to the cashier counter the entire hour and a half that we were there. The only thing that was at the table were the brushes. We each picked an item and brought the paint to our table. We also filled up our own bowl of water from the sink. Overall, it was a fun experience. read more

Both of my girls have been to birthday parties and it inspired me to do a surprise pottery party for my entire family -- YEP, a bunch of of us aged 21 months to 76 years-old sitting on a rainy day, listening to the Seahawks game on the radio and making Thanks Giving-themed dinner plates for our upcoming holiday get-together. It was such a joy and a lovely way way to spend time as an entire family. Great staff!! Very friendly atmosphere, very inspirational. I spend hours there on the weekends. They have a good variety of bisque to choose from. There is always New stuff so I like to take a peek if I haven't been in while to see what's new. They have a punch card too which I prefer to other places, like the one in Bellevue or Redmond. It's a small space. I didn't understand why a dog was allowed to be in the already crammed place. My allergies were going crazy. It also smelled of dog urine. I'm unsure if that was from that dog or if it's from prior dogs, since it seems allowed. The girls running the shop provided barely any help and were more into entertaining each other rather than assisting their patrons. You can hear their conversations, some of which was inappropriate for a public workplace that serves customers including children. Their stock is very poorly placed for the shop already being extremely difficult to move around in. If you knock a piece over (which seems inevitable here) you are charged for it, SO BE CAREFUL!!! I will drive the extra distance and pay the extra dollar for a much better experience, customer service and accident forgiveness in human error should something break. Will do an update after I pick up mine and my daughter's pieces. As for now, this is not a place I will be returning to nor recommending. read more

Took my daughter here during a weekday right at opening... just walked in, no appointment needed. There was only one other person. They have a huge selection of items to paint. Their paint colors are a little limited, but I guess you can make up new colors by mixing. My daughter and I painted a little princess bank. It was a nice experience. The staff seemed to disappear and weren't all that helpful. It took them about 5 minutes to notice us and come explain what we should do. It was a nice, quiet activity, but for the price ($25 for a small bank), I think I could find cheaper craft options! We got a living social deal for Mudhouse Pottery and had a very pleasant morning when we went in. The staff were super helpful and very thoughtful. They have a nice selection of stencils for those who want a picture on their piece but don't have the natural talent to freehand it. The color selection is very good! We definately plan to return! This would be a great place for a bit of special parent/child time! Mudhouse Pottery is set up to allow kids to create but it's certainly not geared directly to kids. I had a great experience with my 12 year old son, painting some bookends for my wife for Mother's Day. Unfortunately for us, while the team there was firing our piece, it got cracked and quite a bit of the paint chipped off. Of course when I went to pick it up I was pretty upset - it looked to me that it was mishandled (but I'm not a ceramics pro of course). The main reason I was upset was because, had they called me to let me know, I would have had plenty of time to come in and do another one. Unfortunately, the poor high school girl working there didn't really know how to handle the situation. I asked for my money back and received it. Then I sent a note to the owner, which is the entire reason why I'm writing this review. Her reply was so thoughtful and considered. She really understood why I was upset and wanted to do everything she could to make it right. She took the time to explain what really happened and also the changes she was going to make based on this experience. It was exactly the right thing to do, the right approach to take. Thanks to that, we will definitely come back here again. I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

What a fantastic place to create and have fun! Our moms group had a wonderful time making our masterpieces and the staff at Mudhouse was so friendly and helpful. We had a party of 10 and found that we had plenty of space to work, unlike the previous reviewer. The business was a bit tricky to find (it shares an entrance with the Tantalus Greek Restaurant's back patio) but a quick call led us in the right direction. There was a huge selection of pottery pieces to decorate with a variety of glazes and paints. The staff was great at giving us tips along the way to create a beautiful work of art. This place is so cool! The employees are very friendly. There's so many items to choose from. It took me thirty minutes just to select my piece. We did a ladies night, and we all loved it. One person made an xmas decoration, a couple others made gifts for others... there's lots of seasonal items, kitchenware, and kids projects. It's great! Highly recommend! read more
