The only reason I'm giving Mudpies & Music one star and none at all is because of one teacher there, Nessa, who is by far worth more than all of the adults in that building. My children have been attending Mudpies & Music for about a year and some months and the first year was really good, even though most of the office staff is rude and unprofessional. Nessa was the only thing that kept me from yanking my children out of this place. Once they moved her to another classroom and brought in another teacher, the quality of care declined drastically. I would pick my children up and they would have food and dirt all over their faces. Rarely do any of the teachers at this daycare take the time to even wipe noses, despite the fact that Knoxville has the largest amount of allergy sufferers. If you're a working parent, don't take your children here. They will call you numerous times a day, five days a week, just to tell you that your child said "no" when he or she was asked to clean up. Their preschool programs are mediocre and lacking in any substance. I'm pretty sure none of the teachers there are certified or have any early child care certifications or experience. Upon arriving one morning to drop my children off, one of their teachers was screaming at this poor toddler at the top of her lungs to sit down. I've never seen such unprofessionalism in any children's setting. I've also seen their preschool teacher, Rose, asking for the director to call this child's parents just because the child was crying. Music? They rarely play any music. The only teacher I've ever seen play music there is Nessa. The director is the most unprofessional woman I have ever met. She dresses like a teenager and even hung up on me when I was trying to have a discussion with her about my child. Fieldtrips? Only for the children who are in Miss Rose's class, and to even get in that class, they have to have room, otherwise they make up some lame excuse for why your child isn't ready for that classroom. My son has told me numerous times that he does not like Miss Rose and that she is mean. These people at this daycare hate children and are not there for the kids. They charge a huge amount to make their daycare look nice when their curriculum stinks and their teachers are always leaving. My children went through three teachers in the 1 year they have been there. Don't let them promise you that the place is great because of the cameras they provide -- there is no sound and half the time they don't work. Also, if you ever need them to record something to verify something they have told you about your child, they refuse or make some excuse. I have moved my children from this awful daycare and one of the primary reasons is that they let two strangers into their building and let them talk to my children without my permission and notified me conveniently a month later that this happened. Talk about crappy security - don't bring your child here if you care about their safety and strangers walking into their building and being able to see your kids and then not telling you who these people's names are. I also asked if they could bring up the cameras to tell me who these two people were and they refused. Glad I pulled my kids out -- your daycare endangers children and your staff is unprofessional. Your daycare isn't worth the amount of money you charge and your curriculum for getting children ready for Kindergarten is subpar to most other preschools in the Knoxville area that are significantly cheaper. How about you take your money and spend it on the things that actually matter, such as the teachers, instead of renovating your kitchen area? read more
