Are the technicians incompetent or just lying to gauge customers? I visited this location #201 on May 26 for a routine oil change. During the inspection, Kait (unsure of his full name) claimed that my brake pads were dangerously thin and needed immediate replacement. I told him I had no braking issues, and my car had not shown any warning lights. He dismissed that and warned me that if I did not change them within the week, I might face brake failure. This is a serious claim. I asked for a quote but also mentioned that I wanted a second opinion since I am not a car guy. He then doubled down on the scare tactics and urged me to act fast to avoid an accident. After work, I went to a friend's place who knows cars. He checked my front and rear brake pads thoroughly, had me turn the wheel for a better view, and confirmed that I had at least 30 to 40% pad life remaining. That is a massive difference from being told I could crash within a week due to break failure. Either this technician does not know how to assess brake wear properly, or worse, he deliberately exaggerated the issue to push an unnecessary sale. SCAM!!! I went in for an oil change and they told me I was completely out of transmission fluid and it was a miracle the car was even driving. I was shocked when they told me I needed to pay $260 more dollars to flush and refill the transmission. I called my mechanic and they said, don't do it, they're probably trying to upsell you. I took my car to my mechanic and the transmission was absolutely fine, and the fluid was not even low. Thankfully I dodged a bullet and didn't pay to have my perfectly running transmission "fixed". Lesson learned, never trust Mr. Lube! read more

I've taken my car here for oil changes every once and a while and that's been fine. But I cannot recommend anyone go here for their air conditioner re-charge $175 they're advertising right now. My fit is older and the air con takes 15-20 minutes to cool, so I thought this might be a good solution. They said it would take a half an hour to add Freon to the system after they depleted what was already in there, it's a heatwave and I went for it. Nearly two hours later, they said no charge because we can't get it pressurized enough. Luckily I had my camping chair in the trunk because I had to sit two hours in 30 degree weather waiting for them to leave my car worse off than when I brought it in. Now, even after 30 mins driving the cooling never kicks in. Who knows what they broke and what it will cost to have someone who actually knows what they're doing repair the mess they made? I just hope they didn't break any parts while they wasted my time and $$ since I'll have to pay to have this repaired. These people do not know what they're doing, after so many time doing oil changes there now I will never even return for those, they're obviously incompetent. read more

3.5 stars I guess? I was given The Province and their brochure with oil change prices and told it would be a 5 minutes wait. The wait was longer than 5 minutes but as I was not in a hurry, it did not bother me. The service was good, the staff attending to me was friendly and helpful. He did not show unhappiness nor did his attitude change when I said I will think about it for items he mentioned which he recommended to replace. Thank you to other yelpers who mentioned about the higher cost of items sold here. I googled the products recommended to change the next day and it was really way cheaper to get it elsewhere and DIY for simple stuff. I go to Mr lube at 6629 kingsway Burnaby BC ,Saturday morning March 11 2023 at 8am because I have a nail on my left front tire , and the gentleman look at my tires and says that my tire its not repairable and need to buy a new tires, this is not my first experienced ,they always wanted to make more and upgrade as much as they can . The first time I tried them is when I did change oil ,they check the battery and says that I need to change my battery. I end up paying more than $300.00 that time. Not a bad place to go when that annoying 'oil change' light won't stop blinking in your car (yeah, I bet you put it off as long as I did too!). It's pretty easy because you just drive in without making an appointment. If there's no one in front of you a simple oil change is about 40-45 minutes. Be careful though because they will try to upsell by showing you how dirty your air filter is (you can clean this yourself for free). They also give you a newspaper to read while you're getting your oil change done, and offer you coffee or tea. If you don't know much about cars (like me) it might be helpful to bring a friend who has more background info. Trust me they will try and tell you stuff to rip you off! read more

Friendly people and good-service. But don't sit in your car while they work on it. Go outside and watch what they do. Even if you don't know much about cars, having a watchful eye in itself will keep them better in line. Seen some pretty shady stuff happen to other folks while I was standing outside in line. They suggested some "engine cleaners" and "high grade fluids" that were obviously scams. And pretty sure they broke my left headlight while working on my car (I made the mistake of taking a call while they were working), but refused to replace it for free. The headlight was less than 3 months old, and it didn't burn out, it was literally cracked when they showed it to me... Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION I had my tires swapped at the Kingway location and it was the absolute worst experience I have ever had. The tech was super rude and rushed and sheared off two of my lug nuts and didn't offer a solution.  He said it happens all of the time. He told me there is nothing they can do, it was the person who installed the tires' fault. I went to lordco and picked up two studs and lug nuts and went back the next business day. After waiting another 45 min and informing the dude who  came up to my car why I was there, the original tech told me they could replace it but it would cost at least $80 The next day, my rear drivers tire was flat. I went in for an oil change. During the work, the mechanic opened the passenger door and said, "I'm going to show you something." He then proceeded to reach under the dashboard and with a twist, pulled out a filter. I did not ask him to do this and he destroyed the filter in the process of removing it to show something to me. My incident happened long ago and I would hope and expect that Mr Lube is more honest now. I sat in the car during an oil change, and could see part of the engine compartment through the gap between the bottom of the raised hood and top of the dash. I saw a technician repeatedly jabbing at the PCV valve until he broke a hole in the plastic. At the end I was given a bill that included a new PCV valve. I asked for and received the vandalised PCV, but my request for no charge for the new PCV was refused. I had not objected when the damage was being done for fear they would do more if challenged. When I followed up with the office they sent a letter denying that the damage was due to any negligence on their part! The BCAA was not able to help either, even though I could show them the part that had been pierced by a screwdriver blade. read more

Ended up buying an OEM air filter from a dealership which was cheaper and better quality than Mr. Lube and voila, fixed her car problems. Why would you wanna subject your car to the clowns at this location. This place is ripe for an undercover sting operation for scams on customers. read more

There's a common theme with Mr. Lube, and that is they try to upswell you on things you do not need. Whether it's a transmission flush, engine flush, coolant flush, or add a $25 can of this to your oil change (which could be bought at Walmart for $4 if you really did nerd it) I would avoid ALL Mr. Lube chains until they smarten up and become a genuine company. read more

This Mr Lube location is a great place to have your oil changed. They are probably ok to change any of your other fluids as well with one big big exception. Do not let this location touch your transmission. After having my old cars transmission serviced here it never worked the same again. It shifted poorly every time and would lag in shifting on my automatic transmission. You can probably have them change your lights and any other easy fixes. Take their recommendation of changing your battery with a grain of salt. My battery seemed to be working fine but they told me it was almost dead and I needed to change it. After doing just that I talked to others and they told me that they just try to ever sell you every time you enter their bays. Be careful with their recommendations but they are great for an oil change. read more

From what I could see there were 4 people working on the upper bay, and judging by the wait, there was one person down in the pit working on 4 cars simultaneously. When I arrived all four bays were occupied and I waited a good 45 minutes and not one person ahead of me pulled out and away. I eventually turned around and left without having my oil changed. I don't know how long those who were ahead of me were there for, but it would be safe to say at least 15 minutes. None of the workers on the upper side really seemed to be doing anything ,other than looking busy, as well. All the vehicles, except for one, had their hoods closed. To be fair, this location of Mr. Lube may do a good job, but I am not really interested in waiting 2 hours plus for an oil change, especially from a so called "quick lube" place. I really needed an oil change...and it was Sunday so a quick service franchise was pretty much my only option. The price was about $55 for my car plus $20 to flush the old oil which was a mess. It's only about $20 more then going to a shop and a lot faster, with the added convenience of service on a Sunday I was alright with the extra money. They offer you coffee, water and a newspaper and you don't even have to leave your car! They also wash your windows and do a courtesy inspection on your car. My battery failed which is good to know now so I can replace it before it leaves me stranded somewhere! I also learned that my back tires are bald which I didn't know cause I don't know much about tires and was told when I got the car 6 months ago the tires were fairly new. This was nice of them to let me know since checking tire tread isn't even on their list of things they check in the inspection. The men in the shop were way more personable and friendly then the Jiffy Lube I previously went to which goes a long way with me in ensuring I come back! read more

I made a few calls around to get price quotes for performing a transmission flush yet I recalled seeing Mr. Lube and decided to give them a try. Most places I called were reluctant to give me a quote and they did not seem to want the business at all or were slow to try book me for the maintenance. I called Fountain tire, Bert's Automotive, Midas and Canadian Tire. A gentleman answered the phone identified exactly how long it would take, said they were not too busy at the moment and it would take 30-45 minutes to perform. I honestly feel as though these guys know how to ensure customer service is performed from first contact to leaving the shop with fluids changed. I was quoted anything from $200-315 + Tax to change the transmission fluid elsewhere however Mr. Lube put in the exact correct fluid recommended for my car (8 Quarts Mercon V) for $195 ($175 + Tax). I was given coffee while I waited for the car ahead of me, was checked up on frequently and given a reliable estimate of waiting time. I feel as though there was no up selling or sales pressure at all. Honest and professional experience. I will definitely come back in the future to this store. read more

Do not go to MR Lube they cost me to get a new re-bulid transmission that going to cost me $2700 dollors before taxs . They told me i need to get a transmissoin flash done. when i just only went in for a oil change and they also said i need to do a power steering flash as well something i did not want to do and they kept pushing me into it. all those things cost me $450. I did not want to get it done and they kept on push me and saying i need to get it done and i finally said yes to something i did not want to get done. they took advantage of someone that has a disablity. i have be dealing with the Manger and they said they are welling to give me back the $450 to help me but they sped up the transmissoin to go quicker. This is a great place to have your oil changed. It's fast and reliable and pricing is similar to the dealership, but at Mr. Lube you don't have to book an appointment which is a plus. I like the fact that they give you a free copy of the Vancouver Sun or Province to read and free coffee.
