Dan contacted me in the morning and they got right on it. An hour or so later he called and said the pump was bad and there were numerous transmission codes. He gave me a quote and was upfront with me that it may actually be more once they tear into the transmission. Understandably, this wasn't something that could be fixed within a day or two. I told him we would have to have it towed to Illinois and then rent a car to get back. I tried to pay them for diagnostics but they refused and said it was their policy to give free diagnostics and estimates. Dan said to have anybody that ends up working on the car to give him a call and he would let them know what they found. I felt really bad I wasn't give him my business, but told him I'd write a review. If I were to ever live in the area, this is undoubtedly be where my vehicles would be serviced. Dan and the secretary were very good people. I wish more shops consisted of people that genuinely cared about helping people like them.

I couldn't believe it, I would be better off buying another vehicle. I called around and found The Transpros who said they would do it for a fraction of the cost. They towed the vehicle in from the dealership for free and also paid the $100 diagnostics charge the dealer charged me (I paid them back later). In the end, they had my car done in two days and only charged me $1200.00, which was incredibly cheaper than the dealer. My car drives like a brand new car and the people were so friendly and helpful. I recommend them to all my family and friends!

Over the summer I was driving to Chicago to scout out places to live…read more Outside of Roselawn, Indiana, my car decided to have a seizure and stop working. Initially, I had the car towed to a dealership in Merrillville as I had no idea what was in the area. After finding out the dealership wanted to charge me $4000 for a new transmission, I decided I needed to have the car taken somewhere else. Thanks to the help of my dad (isn't that the truth though? Dads to the rescue), he called around and found the guys at Allon's. They offered to tow the car for free, and then did an estimate. Apparently when my transmission crapped out on me a few years prior (thanks, Saturn... for your stellar transmissions), the shop I took it to didn't do the work they told me. Steve at Allon's explained what was wrong with my car, how the original shop screwed up, and then fixed the car for a much MUCH more reasonable price. Since I had to fly back to where I was living at the time, then pick the car up at a later date, he was kind enough to offer to keep the car on lot without charging a storage fee. Not only that, but he had his wife drive the car around and get it up to highway speeds to make sure it was safe for me to drive. The people at Allon's are friendly and while the shop is a little small and off the highway, I would go back to them for any major repairs.
