I always get a cortado every new place I go. It gives me a chance to see how well they make a shot of espresso.... They under extracted the shot a little. It was on the bitter side, but not horrible. I believe they are serving a Brazil bean and it should have a pronounced nutty/chocolate flavor at this level of roast. If the clicked those grinders down 2 notches it would probably be a much better cup. It's an industrial sort of setting, the staff was neither friendly nor rude. Just very average. We were in town for work and stopped by for an afternoon pick me up. When we ordered we had to wait a little bit, think the baristas were wrapping a few things up, but they did at least acknowledge us. We ordered our coffee after explaining how we wanted more coffee with a hint of flavor and an iced americano. The guy who made our coffee nailed it. Came in during my lunch break to get an iced matcha latte and it was great! The barista said they had gotten a new matcha kit and the matcha tasted super smooth which was great. We walked over but they have plenty of free parking out front, and our drinks were made quickly. Only complaint is that they charge for light ice and mine came with a lot of ice still which made my drink watered down later at work. Seems like a good spot to study as well and it's pretty quiet and calm inside. read more

I'm always looking for new coffee shops to check out. This coffee shop is located in a strip mall behind Cub. The parking lot was bit busy but they do have a lot of parking available around. The coffee shop was also busy inside, lol. They have a pretty decent size menu/lots of options and some food items. The waffles seemed very fancy and tempting but we did not get food this time. We ended up getting 3 blended drinks; mocha, miel & Birthday drink (April special). I've never had a miel but it was good & sweet, I enjoyed it. The birthday drink was good as well! This is such a lovely coffee shop. As soon as you walk in you'll immediately notice how spacious this spot is. Lots of seating and decent accessibility to outlets. I will this spot definitely gets busy. After visiting a couple of times, at different times of day, almost all of the spots were taken but I still managed to find a spot. As for parking, it was relatively easy, they do have a lot in the front. They offer a variety of pastries, sandwiches and beverages. They offer the classic coffee drinks and a few speciality drinks. I wasn't a big fan of the chai tea latte as it was a little bland but I enjoyed the iced gingerbread latte (limited time beverage). The gingerbread wasn't too overpowering and not too sweet. The prices here are very reasonable! Make sure to sign up for the loyalty program as you get a free 16oz drink for your bday :). Overall, this is a great coffee shop. read more

My sister and I came here to get some work done, and we were excited since we had grown up driving by this place. Upon walking in, we were not welcomed at all. We placed our order eventually, and the same coffee I ordered was called at the counter, so I went up to grab it. The employee working unkindly stated that I had accidentally grabbed the wrong drink by saying with an attitude, "That's not even the size you ordered." Unprofessional! We walked in on a Sunday around noon, no one in line. Two of the baristas spent several minutes flirting, saw us at the counter and continued to flirt. Finally the male barista took our order one of the items was a pastry. The barista pulled the pastry with his bare hands and served it to us. Stopped by as I was in the area and am a sucker for a good coffee shop! This place was great and had so much room for finding a spot to sit. Grabbed both a caramel almond latte and an apple pastry. I think I should have tried a breakfast sandwich instead, but that's my bad on realizing just how sweet the apple pastry was. The latte was spot on with what I was hoping for! Found another cafe gem! The cold brew coffee is smooth and isn't bitter as some other larger names I won't mention. I typically drink my cold brew black, but this time decided to add a shot of caramel syrup. It was too sweet for my taste, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The pastries we tried are top notch. The glazed croissant was light and chewy. The apple flip had more filling than expected. Paired well with our cold brews. The area itself is pretty large. There is additional seating in an adjacent room near the two individual restrooms. The sunlight was shining on a cold winter morning and filled the cafe - such a pleasant experience. It appears that their windows open in the summertime (like a giant garage door). We will definitely be back to enjoy the atmosphere later this year when it warms up. read more

Front room is lovely, although it lacks adequate seating, made worse by the staff commandeering the back side of the counter with their backpacks & personal water bottles, prohibiting patrons from accessing those seats. - the big room is LOUD- please grab some more acoustic tiles and hang from ceiling to dampen the noise; it's really bad (enough to make you leave) and I think about it before coming again. It is also as if the team might be purposely attempt to distinguish themselves from the chain shops by crafting their beverages s l o w l y & so just be aware. I have been dating my boyfriend for 7 1/2 months, on his Ideal Woman list was "must like coffee," we do our work at coffee shops, we meet our real estate clients at coffee shops: needless to say we drink a lot of coffee; but never have they ever heard him say "this is good coffee" until Mugshots. We are not sure what makes a coffee there so special, he thinks it must be stronger espresso beans. We're not really knowledgeable about coffee, we just know when we taste it. I like decaf and I like sugar-free syrups and they had four sugar-free syrups for me to choose from, I went for raspberry which was not my favorite, but was not a chemical toasting nightmare. Our barista was super sweet, our coffee came out fast, I love that this place has space for community events, they have a box for donating to the local food shelf, they have their own coffee roaster, there were a great mix of people sitting on tables and chairs by fireplaces. I had to put on my sound canceling earphone for a load lady but otherwise I don't even remember there being music. The parking lot is almost non existent LOL but it's a little mini strip mall and the coffee shop is at the end, but you better believe that every car parked out there is for Mugshots (except the two with the signs for the hair place, nobody was parked there!). I always love to support local coffee shops over chains. So I tried this one that's not too far from my house. But I was so bummed! I just got a vanilla iced late w/ oat. It was so watered down :( maybe just the way they make their iced drinks? I really loved the vanilla syrup they used tho! Would be worth to try a hot drink instead. They have one cup (at least that is what the counter person said to us) -- yes you read that correctly. Be prepared to receive your warm beverage in a paper cup. Staff doesn't always seem to listen to you when you order -- be prepared to reorder, and possibly reorder again... They don't have a clue as to how to make a real cappuccino. It's more like a latte with more foam. -- they even make it look pretty -- which you can't do if it's a real cappuccino -- the froth is okay shall we say. The coffee is a bit bitter -- but that might also be because they don't know how to make a cappuccino and they mess up the timing of adding hot milk to the espresso. I suggest sticking to tea. Pastries are uneventful... okay, but not fabulous... Paper napkins / sugar etc is next to the door -- it's almost like they don't want you to stay. Square pay (I'm quite skeptical after being linked to a friends email who I don't share any accounts with -- they received my receipt when i made a purchase) -- Mugshots also accepts cash. The side room in the summer is SUPER cold -- like that's where all the ac goes. Bring a sweater/jacket or the like of. -- winter too when I think about it. Basically mugshots is an okay place to meet and chat with a friend -- avoid others as you might not be able to shake yourself free of them. They have a prayer box if thats your thing. People sometimes bring their kids which is great! -- but said people don't always keep an eye on their kids (especially in the side room) and just let them wander / be rude etc. So this isn't a Mugshot issue -- just to people with kids a request to watch and teach manners to your kids. read more

I went to Mugshots Coffee Company with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. It is tucked away in a strip mall and I would not have noticed it had my friend not pointed it out to me. Upon entering Mugshots we were greeted with an industrial coffee shop, surrounded by tile floors, seating ranging from comfy couches to metal chairs, and a fireplace. We waited a few minutes to order at the counter where we both got coffee, mine was a brown sugar latte & hers was a honey lavender latte, and I also ordered a half sandwich - apple, cheddar, and turkey with a side salad. They warned us ahead of time that the food would take some time, but this was fine with us. There is a lot of seating room in this coffee shop which is great! We chose to sit in their second room at a table by the fireplace. We both received our coffees within 8 minutes. The coffees were really nice & I later learnt they make their own syrups! It did take some time for me to receive my food but it was excellent. My sandwich was tasty and the side salad was very fresh. What I really loved about Mugshots was the price! I got my latte for $4... in this economy that is AMAZING. Next time I am in this area of MN I will be coming back to Mugshots for my cup of joe. read more

What a great spot! This coffee shop is off the beaten path and a bit tucked away from some other bigger strip malls but worth navigating through the funky parking lots.
