UPDATE: 3 days later I received a call from Melissa who said she was another one of the office managers. She started out the conversation, "We are hoping there is something we can work out with you" Then went on to say that the office staff is upset with my review and feel like they were being bashed. Really? I have been feeling like that for months and I have talked to Dr. Thompson and Jessica about it in the past. Melissa stated the below mentioned staff denied these actions etc... She used the word "petty" several times as well. I love my dog like she is one of my kids. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for her, including driving 45 minutes every other week for laser and acupuncture, dental surgery, vaccines etc. Yes, I have spent a small fortune here. I am not being petty. I just reached my limit of this toxic environment and decided I need to go elsewhere.
She also said that Dr. Thompson is upset that my words on this review make it appear to others that she would fire the staff if she could, and this is creating tension at the clinic. I am reporting what she said to me. The way it came across to me is that if she had the power to do something she would. She said "What do you want me to do? I can't fire them, I am only an associate." And she agreed it was unprofessional behavior. Melissa agreed that the clinic notes were harsh and that when they get calls like this, they use it as a teaching tool to do better. (So there have been other complaints.) However, the tone quickly changed when she said Dr. Thompson said if I do not remove the review, she will "not" continue to prescribe the pain medications for my dog. I asked Melissa why Dr. Thompson did not call me and she said she is very upset and very sad by this and cannot talk to you. I also asked her if this was her decision or the decision of the owner(s). She said it was Dr. Thompsons decision.
I may have been premature in my praises, and this sounds a bit blackmail-ish to me. This threat of not prescribing meds for my dog unless I remove the review is shocking, but I will not remove this review. I will find another veterinarian who can rx the meds. I never expected her to anyway. This just adds to the mindset at this clinic. And truly, I am sickened by it all.
(First Review)
I hesitate to write negative reviews, but this time it is more than warranted. First, Dr Thompson is an exceptional Vet, and I wish I could continue to take my dog to see her, however after experiencing such abrasive interactions with Heidi ( *falsified clinic notes about me) and Kim and Kari who follow the lead of Jessica B. (manager) in rudeness. There is this strange high school clique atmosphere where whispers, rolling eyes and snide comments are a part of the normal interaction for these women. Karla and Laura are the only front desk staff that are professional and courteous and seem to keep to themselves.
There have been many mistakes and I understand this will happen, what is not right is to gaslight the pet owner, blaming them and then teaming up together to make false accusations. I had to endure this for months and it has been exhausting. I dreaded walking into the clinic but I did it for my dog. The constant corrections on my pets health and records, trying to sort out mistakes that need to be made on the charts for billing and scheduling mishaps is of great concern. The only reason I would come back is because Dr. Thompson is wonderful and I was seeing improvement with my senior dog.
Jessica seems to be more concerned with her popularity with the staff under her rather than caring about animal welfare and/or the clients that keep the practice afloat. She repeatedly said that her staff never makes mistakes, accused me of lying, and refused to look at the invoices to see already paid services. She is cruel and unprofessional. I would never feel comfortable having her around my pets. If I was the owner or an associate of this clinic she would be terminated immediately. When I first started bringing my dog to Dr. Thompson, she had mentioned there was a high turnover of staff. There is a reason for this, and someone at a higher level should take notice. I believe bad leadership definitely sets the tone for bad staff.
I won't be going back, it's just too toxic and even though Dr. Thompson listened to my concerns and she agreed with me that this is unacceptable behavior, she has no power to terminate these employees. What is really sad is that these women don't realize they are hurting the pets as well as the owners. There is a complete lack of compassion here. I hope anyone that has negative experiences at this clinic will call and speak directly to your Veterinarian, do not leave a message with the staff, it will be buried. I also hope Dr. Thompson leaves this practice, she is too good to be in this environment. read more
