Disgusting. Didn't feel safe. Rooms were dirty. They won't refund us our money because we checked in. How were we to know our rooms would look this way? Sad! Needs to be shut down!

The bed skirt is cracking me up in this one. Why even try?

Not much to look at from the outside, even less from the inside. The main lobby is so fresh and clean, but walking down the corridor of the back building looks like a place a person would be held hostage, because who would stay there willingly? We only got through one night. There are pee stains on the floor, the kind that nobody has even attempted to clean. Smells like grannies and cigarettes in that place. Stains and sticky substance (old soda?) on the walls, on the floors, in the corners and crevices. Our beds weren't even made upon arrival and they left us ONE bath towel in the room. The carpet is so dirty it has that waxy feeling on it, definitely wear socks, maybe sleep with your shoes on. I'd give this place no stars if I could.

This hotel met my expectations and then went beyond! The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a continental breakfast, game room, fitness center, and theater room. You can rent movies at the front desk. The rooms are spacious with wonderful heating units and very clean. They have a mini fridge, a microwave, an ironing board, and on site laundry. After two other hotels I've stayed in on my trip with my husband from fort jackson to fort Eustis this one is astounding and affordable. There isn't food in direct sight, but a short drive down the road and you'll find fast food and 7-11. It's very close to fort Eustis.

Disgusting !!! You walk in and immediately get smacked in the face with the smell of mothballs, went down the hall to our room and all you smell is weed I could frankly careless if it was a smoking hotel but being put into a room next to someone who's burning when you have 3 small children is a no go for me. Stayed in the room for 10 mins and walked out, garbage wasn't changed, carpets weren't vacuumed, the vent for the AC looks like it hasn't been clean since the place opened, hole punched into the wall I didn't even tear apart the beds like I normally do whenever I go into a hotel bc of the fear of what I would find. If I was having a motel party when I was younger this would've been a good place but for a family of 5 staying one night to visit there loved one on base is a disgrace. It's shameful that they even try to appeal to military families. There wasn't enough cans of lysol in this world to make me wanna stay here with my littles

The staff so far has been very friendly. When I arrived I noticed some items in the room where dated. Also the shower floor squeaked, not a big deal it was clean. The over all room was neat and clean. No weird smells. Considering it a cheap hotel room, I would rate it at the high end. I've stayed in much worse

We had a mishap when we first entered our room. The sheets were not clean and the bed was just made up without ever cleaning the sheets. We went back to the front desk to notify them and we were quickly moved to a much nicer room. No worries. The parking deck is very close to the entrance of the hotel. The charge to park in the deck is $6/day. There are several amenities and although there are lots of stores/shops nearby, there's a restaurant that has a bar and they offer room service so you can always get a bite to eat at any time. I'd stay here again for sure.

I do want to give credit where it's due: the day-shift front desk staff, doormen, and kitchen staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. Unfortunately, the room cleanliness and housekeeping were a completely different experience. When I first checked in, I gave the room a quick once-over and immediately noticed stains on the bedsheets and pillows, including a large yellow stain that appeared to have pooled into the bedding. I had to request that someone come change the sheets, which unfortunately set the tone and my expectations for the rest of the stay. After housekeeping came through on subsequent days, coffee and coffee cups were repeatedly not replaced. The strangest issue was that the entire bottle of body wash kept disappearing from the shower after the room was cleaned. Eventually, I just bought my own toiletries because I was tired of having to ask for basic items and honestly became concerned that continuing to report problems would somehow make the stay even more frustrating. The location is very convenient, and several members of the staff were genuinely great, but the condition of the rooms and poor housekeeping overshadowed those positives. Overall, until the renovations are completed and the housekeeping issues are addressed, I would stay somewhere else if given the choice.

The hotel has been my regular go-to whenever I visit Yorktown, going on for about 10 years now. The amenities and the reasonable price make a difference. There's an indoor pool, a hot buffet breakfast included in the price of the room, there's wi-fi, a decent fitness center, and a functioning business center. Under Hilton's reservation system I was able to select my room the day before I arrived and was able to use Hilton's app to download the key to my room a couple of hours before the posted check-in time. The same thing was true when I checked out - tapped the app and my receipt was emailed to me within the hour. Nearby, there's a Burger King, and there's a Subway across the parking lot; there are also moderately priced restaurants and bars and a full-service grocery store and Virginia ABC store within a minute or two walking distance. I usually ride on Amtrak to get to Newport News from D.C., and the recently opened station is gorgeous. Lyft and Uber are well-supported, and I was able to schedule an early Sunday morning Lyft for about $25 for the 20-minute ride from the hotel to Amtrak (it costs less than that if you don't need to schedule in advance). Upon arriving at the hotel, I was recognized as a Diamond-tiered Hilton Honors member and offered snacks based on that status. The front desk staff members have consistently been welcoming, courteous, and helpful. I sampled the breakfast offerings, which included both oatmeal and grits, biscuits and gravy, and waffles, in addition to bagels, muffins, cereals, eggs, sausage, fruit, and yogurt. The breakfast staff members were friendly, kept the place clean and filled with all the fixings. My wife and kids have made the Hampton Inn Newport News-Yorktown our destination of choice; now our kids are bringing their young families there as well. Five stars for a job well done.

We had gone through something traumatic the night before, and the other two people in my party were not in a place where they could come downstairs and order off the menu. The restaurant employee told me that if I wanted to take food out, I would have to order individual items from the menu instead of the buffet. I went to the front desk for help and was met with indifference. The front desk manager, Tamika, seemed more focused on folding silverware, or whatever she was folding, than addressing a guest's concern or even trying to explain the policy with a little understanding. Upon arriving back at the hotel I began to do my normal process of checking the bed etc. I found that there was what appeared to be either blood or someone had something cheesy in the inside comforter layer. Then the lady said she would send maintenance but we would have to wait. He told her that was unacceptable and when he asked for a manager, she then said it would be 20 mins.
