My experience with Dr. Andrew Menkes was unprofessional and painful. Medical Negligence: The nurse forgot to prep the anesthesia and did not communicate with the doctor. Dr. Menkes proceeded to inject the keloid treatment without numbing, which was incredibly painful. Poor Manner: When I asked why a shot was still sitting there unused, he didn't apologize. Instead, he tried to shift the blame to me, saying I should have told him. Billing Issues: To top it off, the billing was incorrect. They used a CPT code for more than 7 lesions when I only had a single keloid treated. Please be very careful if you choose to go here. I had what looked like a severe eczema outbreak a couple of years ago. The other doctors I went to…read moresaid my only options were to suffer through it and try steroid creams or to go on the drug Dupixent. Dr. Murase instead recommended patch testing to determine if what I was experiencing was not actually eczema but an allergic reaction. Sure enough, the patch testing revealed that a number of foods, shampoos, moisturizers, etc. that I'd been using/consuming had ingredients that I was allergic to. I was able to use an app she gave me to identify alternative products, and I cut out the foods I was allergic to. This ended up completely solving my issue. The horrible rashes on my skin went away and have stayed away for over a year. I will be forever grateful for what she did for me. If it wasn't for her, I might now be paying thousands of dollars for a drug I don't need and still exposing myself daily to foods and products that I am allergic to. Too many doctors have been conditioned, for whatever reason, to automatically prescribe expensive drugs to treat any problem that people experience. Dr. Murase has the good sense to know that simpler methods, like patch testing, should be done first before putting patients on any permanent drug regimen. Thank you, Dr. Murase!!!

She recommended a biopsy, which was done. The diagnosis: malignant melanoma. It was caught in time and after a fairly routine surgical procedure it was eradicated. If Dr. Adams hadn't caught it, I might not be around to give this review. Am I biased? Yes. Should I be? I think the answer is obvious.

Furthermore, the treatment she prescribed wasn't that effective and I found a much better solution through a nurse practitioner while getting laser hair removal. I could never say that she's a bad doctor, however I do feel like she's a bit selective about her interests. I think it's fine to go to her with more complex issues, but for simpler things like acne she might not be quite as helpful.
