one star only because 0 wasn't an option. Mary Whitfield is a dishonest, sleazy human being with no moral compass. Terrible attorney and even worse as a person. On the day I fired her, I asked her to show me one thing that she had gotten for me in the divorce proceedings that I couldn't have gotten or better had I never hired an attorney and had just shown up to court myself. She had nothing. She failed to represent me in a matter when she was still my attorney of record. When only she had been notified of the hearing because when I updated my email address and told her I no longer used the old email, she failed to do anything with it. So my notice went to the old email. She received notice however, and chose not to represent me or even let me know of the hearing. After I fired her, she refused to hand over my file as required by law. Only after I contacted another attorney at her firm to let them know what she was doing, did I finally receive my file. Even then, it wasn't my complete file. Pretty much the only thing Mary knows how to do is to bill you for hours that she spent colluding with opposing counsel in a wink wink agreement. I could not recommend anyone less than I do her. Unethical, at best. read more

Taylor Oyaas represented me in a lawsuit filed against me by my former brother-in-law. I had never been sued before - I had never even hired a lawyer before - and I was being sued for more than $500k! To make matters more complicated, my former brother-in-law was representing himself. During our first consultation Taylor put me at ease by listening, taking notes, and asking a lot of questions. She reviewed her retainer and hourly fees upfront to avoid surprises. She explained what the process would look like from start to finish which helped me stop panicking and focus on the process. Throughout the process I never had to contact Taylor asking what was going on with the case. More often than not she emailed me with updates, answering questions I did not yet know I had. When I did contact her I would receive a reply promptly. Her response to the lawsuit was incredibly well researched and written. Because he was representing himself she went the extra step to argue both sides of the case, but ultimately explaining why the law did not support his claim. In the end she won my case and (per her request) was awarded my legal fees to be paid by my former brother in law. I am very pleased with Taylor's services and would recommend her to anyone looking for a great lawyer in Memphis. read more

I was also not properly briefed or coached before my Zoom court appearance, which left me feeling unprepared during an important moment in my case. Additionally, the signing of my divorce decree took longer than expected with no clear updates or explanation provided along the way. After the divorce was finalized, I was instructed by their office to wait until June before taking action regarding my ex-husband's failure to pay court-ordered alimony. I followed their guidance, documented everything, and kept them updated. However, when June arrived, I was then told the firm no longer handles post-divorce matters and would not assist further despite previously indicating they would move forward with enforcement. This lack of follow-through and communication put me in a difficult position after relying on their advice. Overall, the experience was frustrating and left me feeling unsupported during a very important process. Mike Fearnley and Apperson Crump PLC allowed the sale of the property without properly notifying me that there was a current hazardous lien on the property, due to the fact this property was used to manufacture METH (Methamphetamine). This information was intentionally omitted. I was denied my refinance by Avalon Capital strictly on the basis, that the property was used as a meth lab, and it has a hazardous lien on the property assessed by the city. This prevented me from making the necessary improvements on my home and cause further deterioration of my property, which will require additional monies to correct. Let this be a warning. If you are an out of state investor, beware! These people are poor communicators and guaranteed to potentially cost you money due to their poor oversight and lack of due diligence.

The very next day, I canceled services after the legal issue was resolved. The attorney confirmed in writing that they would stop work and refund my retainer minus minimal fees. Despite this, they never issued a refund. Instead, they later billed me $535.25, including a $222.75 "transaction fee" that was never disclosed or agreed upon. I received only about 1.25 hours of service and did not receive $4,500 worth of legal help. I've since filed formal complaints with the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility, the CFPB, and the Attorney General's Office. This experience has been deeply disappointing--especially during such a vulnerable time. I would not recommend this firm to anyone seeking clear, honest, or compassionate representation.

I used this staffing agency a few years ago after tossing around the idea of becoming a substitute…read moreteacher, after contacting the local Kelly staffing agency in Memphis I was told I would have to go thru this particular location in order to become a substitute teacher. A bit difficult to get through to them on the phone but more on that later. After finally getting a live person on the phone I was able to get the lowdown on becoming a substitute teacher, a bachelor's degree didn't matter what in, lucky for me I just happen to have two (smile). After reading, signing and sending some documents back and forth, and completing an online prerequisite course, I found myself in a one day orientation course. The entire process was handled very professional and smooth the hardest part was getting a live person on the phone, but once I showed up for orientation I figured out why, this office is only staffed with a total of two people, answering phones in between orientation and trying to fill daily substitution assignments, so kudos to those two ladies, well done considering the workload.
