I'm a really active person, so this was extra tough. My gym, where I swam laps regularly was also shut down as a result of social-distancing. Having owned my home since 2003, I had a good deal of equity and was a few years away from paying off my house. Watching the market, I saw rates getting lower and lower, so I started imagining, then researching what it would cost to have an in-ground pool installed. After a month of serious research, the rates dropped and were hovering at what I understand to be an all-time low, 2.5%.. That rate flipped the switch in my brain that said, "yea.. I think i can actually afford to install a pool". So I called my younger brother, David Meek (aka #DMeekMortgagePro). The process could not have been more simple. Of course, I shopped around. I called my current lender and researched other lenders and brokers, but ultimately found that David was able to offer me the best rate and the most personal service. He was available to answer questions, talk through options, and was transparent and straightforward about fees, deadlines, and everything in-between. Plus, in this quarantined world, everything but the final signing was remote. Yes, David is my little brother, but he worked HARD for my business. Two weeks after my re-finance, I was all set up with a new, 20-year mortgage at a really affordable rate, cash in hand, pool ordered, and eager for the install. In May, I didn't think my dream of having an in-ground pool was obtainable and now I'm looking forward to my second year as a pool owner! David made that dream become a reality for me. I could not be more thrilled. During our time working together, I learned that David volunteers with Junior Achievement because he has a passion for helping folx with their finances and making homeownership a reality for some that never thought it was possible. David is all about empowering people in their own financial success. He's a straight-shooter who literally works 20-40 extra hours a week for his clients.
