The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. This location has more room for books as well :) In addition much of the furniture use repurposed and salvaged material. The building is incredibly sustainable and IIRC is LEED certified (yes I had a chat w/ a librarian about this).

Neighborhood library as the library is across from some apartments and right by the library is a small park called Scotts Park,where you can walk your dogs and relax. One level library with high ceilings. You come in to the foyer, there are set of comfy chairs where you can sit and relax. Enjoy the area and be at peace with yourself. There is a seed library with everything from flowers, herbs, ornamental, fruits and misc drawers. You just pick the seed that you will want to bring back home. It's a very open library where everything is labelled. Many meeting rooms are available to reserve. There is a teen room where they can sit and relax and study. There are many tables with lamps where you can bring your computer and do work. If you go through another door there is a "Children's Room." There are many children books there and tables to sit and read. Even am area where they can play quietly. This neighborhood library is fun to walk in and just check it out while you are in the area. Catch the bus and walk around downtown Milwaukie and see the shops around.

Multnomah County Library is one of the city's best institutions - I have found some of my favorite…read moreauthors from librarian recommendations, and being our neighborhood ballot drop spot makes them even more of a benefit to the community. That being said, I'm disappointed with both the process and the results for the recent Belmont Branch renovation. The old branch didn't have much in the way of parking, and they intentionally made it worse. Much worse. The public was allowed 'input' on the design of the new space, and the response to my questions about their survey claimed that a 'majority' of the public preferred the new design (the actual results were 317 votes out of 812 cast for this illusion of choice). The voting was for one of three designs, where one of them would involve the unthinkable destruction of the historic wing, and both of the other options had vastly reduced parking. Clearly, all decision making had been done before asking the public. According to PSU, over 156,000 people live in the 12.5 square miles of the two mile radius service area for this branch. A claim that this many people prefer walking, biking, or public transit for their library visits is absurd. The results of the recent construction are underwhelming - if you stand in the doorway between the new lobby and the old building (now the children's library), you see a bright, open space in the old wing, and massive beams supporting the ceiling of the new lobby, visually reducing the height of the space, making it dark and unwelcoming. For some reason, the lobby floor is higher at the south end of the lobby, requiring stairs and a ramp to take up prime space inside the entrance. All in all, the ground floor of the expansion seems to only contain a book return, a holds pickup area, a two person librarian's counter, and self service checkout kiosks. I assume there are workspaces for staff, but a claimed doubling of space offers very little for library patrons. I wish we received more for our money - the barn that they slapped onto the end of the old building seems lazy and drab.

There's a sensory room you ring the bell for if you want access to it. Outside there's a drop off ballot box.

I also make use of their online databases, and the workers are more than willing to help with any questions or concerns you may have. The learning center has been a life-saver. Basement: quiet floor, DVD players available First floor: Peet's Coffee, printing/scanning services, rentals of mice, laptops, laptops that play DVDs, etc. Second floor: awesome help desk to help you out with research Third floor: perfect for group meetings. I figured it was about time for me to write up a review for the PSU library as I have been spending…read moremost of my time there lately. This library has many different spaces available in order to get your school work done; whether it be solo or with a group. There are six floors in the library, half of them are quiet study and the other half allow talking in order for group work to happen. There are quite a few private group study rooms that are available for rent to students (be sure to reserve these way in advance during mid-term and finals weeks). The library has a whole slew of computers as well as several print stations. The print stations are hooked up to web print so you can conveniently print from your own laptop. There is a reference desk located on the second floor. If you don't know where to get started in this large library. you should stop by the reference desk first. I've also had a bit of luck having them help me with my research. These librarians went to school to learn how to research things, go take advantage of their expertise! I also enjoy the various views I can get depending on which side of the library I decide to it on. If you sit on the east side of the building (the front) you have a nice view of the Park Blocks and a beautiful tree that grows right in front of the library. If you head to the west side you get a view of the football field. I have had much entertainment from watching everything from soccer and football practice to martial arts practice and cricket games.

The kids area was amazing with books at his level, interactive play structures with a beautiful and fun nature theme. The reading nook was adorable and there were even a few toys out. We visited in the evening so it wasn't crowded but a mom and her son came to the area and told me on Tuesday's they had story time! We will be coming back for that next! The staff were very helpful and sweet as well. So grateful this is so close to us and we will be back so many times!

It's been about 10 years since I last visited the Midland Library, and wow--what a difference. I…read moreknew they remodeled a few years back, but I finally had the chance to come in today, and it honestly feels like a brand-new space. The library feels so much more spacious than before. I really love the natural light coming through the windows, and the paintings and decorations throughout the building make the whole place feel calming and welcoming. It's the kind of environment that makes you want to slow down and stay awhile. They also have several conference rooms, ranging from larger rooms to smaller ones, which is great for meetings or quiet study time. On top of that, there's a dedicated kids' area where children can read, play, and just enjoy being in a space designed for them. Overall, this is an easy 5/5. An excellent place to bring your kids, read some books, or just enjoy a peaceful, well-designed library. I'm really glad I came back.

After visiting a number of the other branches, I feel lucky to have such a large branch close to my home. My toddler really enjoys the kids play area. This branch also offers a lot of different programs through the week for children and older adults. I haven't been to any of these, I cannot comment on the quality.
