You won't believe the start to our camping trip! So, minor disaster: my husband realized he completely forgot the camp stove. ​We scrambled to a local thrift store hoping for a miracle, but no luck on the stove front. However, we did find a total hidden gem right next door! We stumbled into this tiny little hole-in-the-wall restaurant, and honestly, it saved the day. ​The food was affordable and so good. My taco salad was perfectly crispy, and the burritos were delicious. My son even told me I had to mention that he gives his bean and cheese burrito a full 5-star rating! ​It's a super small spot, maybe enough room for 10 or 12 people to sit. So most people were just grabbing their orders to go. The only bummer was they didn't have any horchata, but the food more than made up for it. ​Silver lining found! Now, back to the woods (hopefully we can figure out dinner tonight without that stove!). read more

Ok I need to talk about Munchy's because I was NOT prepared!! We stopped here on the way back from Coachella to Vegas, exhausted, hungry, just needed food, and the carne asada burrito completely blew me away. I was shook. The tortilla alone was so soft and perfectly made that I didn't even reach for sauce once, which never happens. I inhaled the whole thing and I'm someone who almost never finishes her food. Easily the best burrito I've ever had. If you're passing through, do not sleep on this place! I will be coming here everytime I go to california LOL read more

Do not ask how my life is going that I've had to come to Needles twice inside of 3 mos. First time I brought old lady, drove around a bit and thought we'd get some lunch here. The reviews sounded delicious and it felt like a nod to the places I grew up around. Came on a Saturday in June. It was closed!!! It was a little after 1 and they're supposed to be open til 3! I wasn't impressed but decided I'd see if they were open on a Tuesday around 1:45. They were. It was much smaller inside than I'd imagined. You open the door and a lovely lady comes from the back. I asked for her recommendations. She said everyone loves their chile verde so much they had to expand it beyond breakfast. I asked if it was spicy, she said no so I ordered a quesadilla. I also wanted a taco, she said again the carne asada was loved. I did the shredded beef which she also recommended. There were a couple other people waiting. There's only a few tables inside. One guy kept opening the door and talking to another guy who also seemed to know the lady that worked there's family. Just felt homey. My food came out and though I had it packed to go I do my best to try a bite while it's hot and fresh. I got mild and green salsas and was off to the races. The taco. Lots of cheese like I like. The beef was a little lacking volume wise but the flavor wasn't lacking and the red mild salsa was a peppery delight. You'll see all the pepper in the pics. The green wasn't bad but had more of a kick with a slight fire. The chile verde I didn't appreciate until it sat for a minute. I had a few bites of it and left. On my drive back - maybe 30ish minutes, it had developed! It was this irresistible star. You could taste the flavors of the sauce, the saltiness and slightly fattiness of the meat. The homemade tortillas. So flipping yummy! It only got better the longer I left it. It was hearty and filling and flavorful. I truly don't know if I'll ever go back to Needles but if i do, I'm stopping here! read more

Great people! Great food! We stopped in on a day when they were super busy--there was a Route 66 event next door at El Garces. The ladies all worked hard to take care of everyone and put out some amazing food--all without losing their cool. Prices are reasonable for the size of the portions. Limited seating but we would have no problem taking it to go if there isn't a table available. Great experience! Can't wait to try them again. read more

Munchy's takes cash only however, there is an ATM on site. The rolled tacos bring me back all the time. The guacamole is spot on. Very creamy and flavorful. Packed with meat and the right crunchiness of the roll. My husband had a bacon breakfast burrito. Family owned and we are always greeted. The building is so old but the restaurant is clean inside. Great place, thanks to Yelpers to help us find this gem of a haystack in Needles. I had the Chorizo burrito and other family members had the Sausage burrito and Ham burrito. Bathroom available to customers and reasonably clean. Four tables inside so a bit cramped, but many folks get food to go. A great "hole in the wall" mexican restaurant that was just what we needed. Perfect place to stop on our trip from Flag to L.A. and the food was very yummy. My husband had been jonesing for a ground beef burrito (old Cali style) and they really delivered - he loved it. I had one ground beef crispy taco and one shredded - and highly recommend the shredded. The ground beef was ok - but the shredded was so full of flavor. Everyone was asking for the green salsa - so we did - but she also gave us one of the mild and one of the hot. Actually, the hot wasn't too bad and was perfect with a little of the mild mixed in. The mild was good because it added a bit of tomato to the food. Would absolutely stop by again. Gal at the register was super sweet and you could see it was a locals favorite.
