The food was really good. We tried the cinnamon roll French toast and the pot roast melt with fries. The cinnamon roll French toast was delicious and definitely recommended. The pot roast melt was a solid diner style sandwich. The bread on the sandwich was perfectly toasted, not soggy or greasy. This is a popular place on Route 66 and we were seated immediately. They were about half full and you could tell from surrounding conversations mostly locals. Our server was very friendly and very attentive. Our food arrived hot and did not disappoint. The portion sizes were ample and very filling. My chorizo was made to perfection and even the tortillas were homemade. My friend said his skillet with the pot roast was amazing but the biscuit and gravy tasted out of a can. Stopped here while charging my Tesla. They've got a few chargers right in the parking lot, which makes it super convenient. It was lunchtime, so I headed inside, and I'm glad I did! The place is a cute little spot decorated with an old-timey western theme that fits the vibe perfectly. The staff was friendly and quick to greet me. I ordered the jalapeño burger with onion rings (small upcharge, but totally worth it). The burger was delicious and the onion rings were perfectly crispy. Service was fast too -- I'm guessing they're used to people popping in for a quick bite while their car charges. Whenever we're on a road trip from Cali to Arizona, Wagon Wheel is a great spot for some honest grub. The latest visit was satisfying, as usual. Service friendly, food came fast and tasted great. Prices are fair, too. I had the chicken fried steak with green beans and baked potato. The green beans were cooked perfectly, not mushy which can happen in diner type restaurants. We were passing through Needles, stomachs growling, and looking for a local spot. We initially drove right past this spot not even thinking of stopping here, but the statue of a screaming gorilla on their roof caught my attention. I'm so glad it did. When you first walk in, you're greeted by a quirky little shop before finding the restaurant. We were quickly seated and attended to -- our server was really friendly and super efficient. Our food came out really fast as well. We tried: - Pot Roast Sandwich: SO GOOD and very hearty. The meat was tender, salted, and really juicy, the horseradish was perfect. There was nothing remotely healthy about this sandwich and that was perfectly fine. - Chicken Fried Steak: Super generous portions! The gravy was definitely flour-heavy, but was very tasty. It was a little too salty for my taste but my husband and teenager both ordered this and absolutely devoured their meals. - Kid's Spaghetti: Super basic but it is a kid's menu item. My child got the meatballs with it, which brought the price up like $4 but they definitely tasted homemade and it was his favorite part, so hey. Needles, Ca. Well this was sure a surprise. Stoped in for lunch while the car was charging. We thought that the place looked old and a bit run down from the outside, so I was forming some projected opinions based on the looked of the exterior. Upon entry and noting the old and divey decor I was ready to skip lunch and just have cheese and crackers out in the car. Stephanie encouraged me to at least see if there might be something on the menu I would like, so we sat. The whole place is full of knick knacks, typically they would be covered in a blanket of dust, but here they are clean. Someone's job is to dust all those things. Our server arrived with waters and menus quickly. We both ordered the brisket omelet. It arrived and just looked gorgeous. The first bite told the story of the delicious creation of the cook (Chef?) that was to be enjoyed. Wonderful tender brisket with smoked chilies accompaniment. A single seared Sorrento lay atop the dish, so I took a little bite and felt the fire, this was the real deal. I could not eat the whole thing. The coffee was good and packed a buzz. Traveling through Needles California on a long road trip on April 26, 2025. Decided to break up my road time by visiting a local restaurant. This was an excellent choice. It's a very fun place. Staff is accommodating, lots of interesting decor. I had a Lunch special, which was a half sandwich with fries, and soup. The soup with cheddar with jalapeño and it was absolutely terrific! The jalapeño was just the right amount, a little bit of zing but not overwhelming. Grilled cheese sandwich and fries, is a nice way to get off the road for a while but not go back out there bloated and tired. It may seem a little bit high to give this five star rating, but it's unique, fun, and a long way from anything else. Hubby had a chicken fried steak with eggs and home fries and I had a single biscuit with gravy and home fries. Food was good, but could use a little up tick in flavor, specifically the steak and the gravy could use a bit of salt. Both came out a little bland in our opinion. We prefer our home fries a bit more crispy, but these had great flavor and you can add peppers and onions if you like. They have some of the fluffiest biscuits and eggs were perfectly cooked. Actually, 4.5 stars. The Wagon Wheel is a delightful, fun filled stop in a tiny, hot desert town whose main attraction is being near the California-Arizona border alongside the Colorado River. The servers are delightful, the food was great, the prices were quite reasonable. The locals love it, and so do the tourists who are lucky enough to discover this gem, for its quirky, humorous Old West ambiance, much as if it had been kidnapped from Knotts' Berry Farm. A quaint gift shop and an old Prospector sitting on a wooden bench (apparantly fondly known as Pappy) are the first things to catch your eye as you walk in. The decor is adorable. The kids' burger was actually the star of the show. It had everyone at our table drooling and begging for a taste. It came with a freshly baked, beautiful bun and a "superb" (to quote the 12 year old grandson) 1/3 lb patty with beautiful grill marks and excellent flavor. This came with a large plateful of fries. The burger was such a hit that we ordered a second one to go. In reality, it never made it out the door. Three merciless adults shamefully vacuumed that baby down before it got a chance to cool. MUST HAVE THIS AGAIN! Fresh cheddar biscuits, hot out of the oven. Haven't had such light, beautiful biscuits in decades. We had to wait an extra 15 minutes for them to come out of the oven, but it was worth the wait. Clam chowder. After all, it WAS Friday. The chowder was OK, not great. Creamy and plenty of clams. Chicken Fried Steak. A nice sized, pounded steak with a crisp coating and a creamy bacon flavored gravy. It came with lumpy (!) mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. Very respectable, better than most. There was enough for 2 to share. Meatloaf dinner. Did not meet Mr. B's expectations, which are pretty high, but I could not drag out of him the reason why. Bland? Apple pie. I suspect they must bake their own. The crust was excellent, very delicate, and crumbled in your mouth. The apples were tart and slightly firm. I really enjoyed the lightly sweetened filling with a hint of cinnamon. If you are looking for a solid diner that serves food mostly made from scratch, this is the place! Their very extensive menu is torturously filled with All-American, comfort-food. This was a near-perfect meal that makes us want to return to try more. read more

I've been in here twice now to eat & their food is sooo yummy! My last visit was on 07/29/2024 around noon while on my way back to Vegas with my friend after we spent 3 nights in Lake Havasu. It's on your way back to Vegas. From my past photos it looks like we both ordered the same breakfast dishes...lol I've had their breakfast sandwich on a croissant with ham, egg & cheese. It's soooo tasty! My friend got the Wagon Wheel Chili omelet that he enjoyed. This past visit he got the biscuits & gray & he didn't like it. He said the biscuit was very dry & it sure looked like it was. First visit I got toast with "fake" butter but that was tasty. I wanted a grilled bagel but they don't serve them there. I wanted a soda water but the waitress said they were out of C02 but offered me Pepsi soda products. I was a little confused on how they're out of C02 but have it for soda? We both just went with water & we both thought it tasted gross. Our food came out super fast this visit, I swear within like 5 minutes, how AMAZING! Love their cute little gift shop, has a bunch of cute stuff in there. I did buy stuff on my first visit but nothing on this visit. I love their WW T-shirts that they wear & wanted to buy one for my brother but their shirts are unorganized on the rack. You have to find the tag in the neckline to see what size it is & thats just too time consuming. The ladies bathroom could use a makeover. Old & has a weird stink to it & not from bodily fluids...lol You definitely have to stop in here if you're in the area & hungry. The Wagon Wheel is a cafe in Needles you can see it when getting off the fwy. The restaurant has been in Needles for years. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is sold. Our party had biscuit and gravy, Belgium Waffle and eggs, and a turkey melt. Belgium waffle breakfast fluffy waffle would definitely order again. Turkey melt with avocado was the bomb. Definitely order again. The biscuit and gravy was bland the waitress mentioned the person who normally makes the Harvey was out that morning. Two out of three isn't bad at all. The place has been around awhile and very down to earth and unpretentious. I especially appreciated that there were several local folks eating here, so it's not just a tourist stop off the highway. The menu is quite extensive, and I chose the pot roast melt for a late lunch. I got it with a side of potato salad. The sandwich was tasty, fresh, and well prepared. They didn't skimp on anything, and the bread, toasted, was perfect to hold it all together. The potato salad tasted homemade and was exceptional. Overall, it was an excellent meal. I had an iced with it, and it came in an oversized tumbler. The wait staff was very friendly and professional and on top of everything. I was amazed at how well organized they were with it seeming effortless. Plus, they seemed to enjoy their jobs. A fun place to stop in for breakfast, which is served all day. Omlette was was good and the special--pecan pancakes--was really good. It's an old timey place, so be prepared for that. Was busy on a Sunday, but the staff were attentive and the food came quickly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the water tasted "funny" like a filter needed to be replaced. The coffee tasted that way too. Be prepared to pay $50 for the breakfast for two, as that seems to be the way it is all over the country and this place is no exception.
