By far, hands down, best Mexican restaurant in town. The food, much better than any other Trussville option. The margs, amazing! I can't even drink a margarita at another restaurant, period, because Munoz has ruined me. The service, best in town. They have amazing, sweet servers. Those of you that want to head north on HWY 11 to eat at that horrific monstrosity of a Mexican restaurant, more power to you. For those who are new to the area, hit up Munoz. I am basing this review on one dish only. I will drive 45 minutes just for their chicken and rice soup. It is that delicious! I have never been to any other Mex or Tex- Mex restaurant that can come close to this soup- it is that good!! Last night I wanted to get Mexican food, and decided to go try Munoz Mexican Grill. I have not been here before but Mexican food always fills me up and tastes amazing. I went inside and go a togo order. I saw all of the workers were wearing gloves and some had masks on. They were nice and friendly in taking my order and they had my order ready in a timely manner, even though the place was really busy. I ordered a Chicken Chimichanga with beans, rice, guacamole, and salad, and it was amazing. Overall they did a great job, and I will definitely come again next time i'm feeling it again! read more

We've been here several times - mostly after church or with our small group. One thing I can say about this place is that it is always packed!! Always!! Noon, night, doesn't matter.... people in Trussville love this place! And there are several reasons why! Good service. This is becoming more and more important in my book. Servers are fast and on top of things. And there's never a lack of servers - there's plenty of staff to meet the needs of the customer. Food comes out fast. This is also important in a busy restaurant - they probably have the same number of cooks as servers to keep up with demand! Food is pretty good - nothing to write home about, but it's a good, fresh meal. The food is pretty Americanized, but sometimes you're in the mood for that. This is a decent Mexican restaurant located in the Trussville area near Highway 11 and Deerfoot. The restaurant is vibrant, and you feel welcome here. The staff are all very nice. They make sure your water never runs low and that the salsa and chip bowl stays filled as well. The queso is pretty good here, so if you crave cheese dip instead of salsa, like I do, then I recommend getting it. There are TVs throughout, but that isn't going to be a draw for the sports enthusiast. The food is your typical, Americanized Mexican food. I liked it, but it isn't anything to rave about. They have tons of selections as their menu is fairly large. The main negatives I have is that there isn't much parking, unless you go into the Publix parking lot nearby, and that you pay up front, and it can lead to a log jam/long line if everyone tries to pay all at once! read more

Pretty typical Americanized Mexican restaurant. We had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated for first available on a Friday night. Outdoor seating on a patio area enclosed by clear vinyl. By the time we were finishing up it was starting to get a bit cool. I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla and Tamale from the Ala Carte menu since none of the combinations sounded like what I wanted. I knew I wanted a Tamale since this is the only (that I know of) in Trussville that actually has them on the menu consistently. The quesadilla was heavy on chicken and light on cheese. It was cooked to the right consistency, not too crisp and not just a warmed folded tortilla. The tamale was not too dry and flavorful. We also had the basic white "cheese dip" with several baskets of warm chips and salsa. My daughter specifically chose this for her belated birthday dinner so she could have the Spinach & Mushroom Quesadilla. Presumably it met her approval since I heard no complaints from her or her Mom that also ordered it. My son ordered the Munoz version of the Beef Nachos Supreme which he quickly devoured. Munoz likely won't take over our regular choice for Mexican but mainly out of convenience not because the other is any better. read more

This is hands down the best restaurant to eat Mexican food in my opinion. The chips and salsa are always good and the chips are never stale. I usually just get a steak quesadilla dinner which comes with rice and beans. What Munoz stands out from everyone else is the quesadilla is big and the sautéed vegetables that has onions, green peppers and tomatoes gives it that flavor.. Good reviews and Mexican food = must try! A couple miles off Hwy 59, I'd say it's worth the trek if you're in the mood for some good Mexican food. Festive, bright atmosphere when you walk in. Tons of seating, can't imagine there would ever be a wait unless you specifically want a booth. Huge plus for me, they bring chips and a bowl to go along with a refillable salsa bottle. Nothing worse then running out of salsa!! Plus, their chips and salsa are really good, not too runny and not too chunky. Good size menu with all the typical Mexican selections. I went with the Flautas and subbed rice for the guacamole salad and sour cream. Flautas can be had with shredded beef or chicken. I went shredded beef. And they were really good. Four total, all were filled with a lot of meat and flavored really well. The only bad thing they were a little more greasy than I would have liked, but a small price to pay for the overall quality. Tv's located around the restaurant playing college hoops, so if you're into that, not a bad spot for that either (note: not huge Tv's). Staff was friendly and attentive. Took my order quickly and checked on me regularly. Only negative take away, it took a long time to get my food, especially with how crowded they were. But again, small price to pay for the quality. We're new to the area and heard a lot about the food here. They will not disappoint! Stopped by for a quick lunch and got enough food to make me want to take a nap. Great salsa and I'm a boisterous salsa snob. Who makes great salsa? Me. J/K But theirs was point on. My wife got the Fajita Quesadilla and I just got the 2 Crispy Beef Taco combo. Great flavors and again, huge lunch size. Prices are great also. We'll be back for sure! Staff was awesome and the environment is low key and laid back. This is mediocre Mexican at best. I have been to many Mexican restaurants and I was not at all impressed with this place. The food is not well seasoned and the cheese dip is like water. If you are familiar with the standard Mexican fair in the Birmingham metro, then you know there are authentic restaurants and those that cater to a more North-of-the-border palette. This place is the latter, and I prefer the first. I will try not to hold that against them in my review. If you are familiar with what I'm talking about, and are looking for this type of menu, then I think you will like it here. There is a big debate in my family over thicker or thinner tortilla chips. Some prefer the thin, but I love a bit more girth to my chip. If you share my preference, then you will like their chips. The salsa is ho-hum. If it weren't for the Cholula Hot Sauce on the table, I don't think I would have eaten any. It lacked a lot of flavor and certainly wasn't my favorite. I was there for lunch with a work group and I ordered off the lunch menu. I got a chicken quesadilla. It came with meat and cheese in a flour tortilla. Again, not much flavor and the chicken was very dry. I did like the rice and beans, especially since I added even more Cholula on them. The staff were incredibly friendly and observant. I enjoyed their attention to our table. Overall, this is what I expected. I'm not as disappointed as it sounds in my review as I kinda expected this type of meal. We went to Munoz Sunday for lunch as we do most Sundays after church. We ordered 3 meals and the check was $29.43. When we checked out, I handed the check and credit card to the cashier. She swiftly added to get the total, ran the credit card and handed it to me to sign. When I reviewed it she had overcharged me by almost $3. When I asked her to correct the error, she turned to a young lady who said she was the manager and we were told that once the card was run that it could not be corrected. I'm sure if we were undercharged that they would have corrected that. I asked could she just give me cash back or do a credit on the card and she said no that she could not do that. We decided to sign and leave as it was a small amount and folks were in line to check out. The manager was rude and let us know that she didn't care if we came back or not. I have left messages for the owner to call and was told that Ricardo was over the Pinson store so I was told that he would return my call. No one has called me back. It's the principle of the issue not the money. I just want others to know that you need to review your check before you give them a credit card or money. We tipped $6 as the service was good but I wish I had taken it out of his tip since I cannot get my complaint to the appropriate person. read more

I loved the shrimp fajitas the cook on the shrimp was spot on and it had flavor, I also ended up getting their steak tacos which was very good as well.
