I was in the area and thought it would be a good idea to try a New spot. The place is really cute inside. You walk up to the bar to order before you sit down. I ordered an Horchata for my drink and Pozole for my dinner. I love pozole and thought they did a really great job with this soup. The flavor was really good and the size of the bowl was very fair. I was able to have leftovers for the next day. My husband ordered some type of burrito that honestly looked very dry and he didn't really care for it. In the middle of the restaurant is a station to grab limes, different sauces, jalapeños, etc. For our appetizer, we ordered queso and chips. It was the most bland and watered down queso. If we ever come back, it would probably be just to grab pozole to go. Nice staff!

I came the very next day for more charro beans, tamales, tacos and tortillas to stock up for the week. I bought enough food to take home extra. They have an awesome salsa bar with mild to hot options. I love the different flavors from pico to mango and red and green salsas. The signs are on the glass above so you know what your getting. I ate too many beans after 5 days but I'm obsessed and will be back for more as soon as I recover. It was totally worth it!

This place was awesome to sit and have tacos or a burrito. When you enter you need to go to the counter to order your food. They do not have waitstaff coming to your table. There are menus available at the counter and once you place your order, they will bring to your table. Our order took about 20 minutes to come out but it was well worth the wait. I had one of each, fish taco, pollo, and carne asada and let me tell you!! They were all amazing!!! Normally street tacos I have gotten are kinda skimpy and can be eaten in 3 bites. Not these! All of them were hearty and stuffed. I was very impressed and satisfied with my food. My daughter had a carne asada burrito that she totally devoured and was happy with her choice. They have a sauce and salsa bar for your choice from mild to flaming hot sauces . Their sauces were good as I had salsa and a tomatillo sauce as my choices. The restaurant vibe gives hints to Mexican heritage along with Frida Cahallo pictures. There were a couple of TVs with games on and nice variety of Hispanic music playing that was not too loud. They offer beer and other drinks as well. When visiting this area again I will love to return here to eat and be full and happy.

Road down to Trussville to try this wonderful restaurant. The owner is very welcoming and absolutely amazing. The food is definitely a 10/10. The service was absolutely amazing . I didn't even make it out the parking lot without devouring my food. They have handmade ice cream pops a beautiful bar and can't forget the salsa bar as well. Thank you so much for such an amazing experience. I hope your business continues to grow. God bless you guys

Absolutel favorite place to eat at in Trussville. The tacos are delicious and the birria is the best in Birmingham. The servers are always super friendly and the inside of the restaurant is very nicely decorated! 10/10 recommend for good Méxican food!

When I'm craving street tacos this is my go to place. Although there is another highly rated taqueria closer, I prefer La Calle. The seasoned grilled onions they add to the tacos is what sets them apart. The usual white onion and cilantro also come on the side. Taco specials are available on Tuesdays. They also have a variety of homemade ice creams and popsicles. I haven't had a chance to try any yet but they look delicious. I like the decor and the owner & staff are always friendly. I will continue to come here.

I like that they offer Mexican snacks and homemade popsicles but the food was average. Charged extra to refill chips.

So I had the shrimp quesadillas, corn on the cob, birria tacos, pork tamale, and locochon I was really excited to try something out of my Comfort zone. So I wasn't trying to pick something that I would normally eat so that's why I have a bunch of different food. Anyways everything was good and everything had it's own flavor nothing was over seasoned or under season. Everything tasted perfectly together I was very happy with the food and I will definitely be going back again. The shrimp quesadilla was my personal favorite.

Best tacos this side of Saturn; and probably the other side too, just never been there. Two pastor, one chorizo, one steak.

This place kept popping up as a hot new business, so once I got back in town, we decided to stop by since it's around a lot of the places we shop. Located right next to Cici'a pizza, you'll miss this place unless you're looking for it. The day we were there, the "open" sign was off, but several people were inside. Thanks to Yelp, I knew I wanted to try the Eloche. Basically it's the elote off the cob in a bowl with cheese and cream and other deliciousness. The bowl is piled high and overflowing onto corn tortilla chips. You can have these with jalapeños, but we chose not to. So good, but def. rich! I was glad we split this entree. We also ordered four street tacos to share: chicken, steak, chorizo, and pork. All tacos come with onions, cilantro, and a side of grilled onions, but since my husband doesn't like onions, we only get them with cilantro. Two bottles of sauce were brought out (green and red), but we didn't put any on the taco. The chicken and steak were probably my least favorite because they didn't have a ton of flavor. But the chorizo and pork def. made up for it. While we were there, several people came in to order (including takeout), so this place is def. in a good spot! I can't wait to return to try some of the other tacos and snacks!

One of the newer restaurants in Trussville - it caught our eye and we wanted to try it as a change of pace. We found it without too much trouble, but the Open sign wasn't on, so we weren't sure, at first, if they were open that day. We checked and went in. The tacos were good. The chorizo and pork were my favorites, as they had more flavor. The chicken and steak were good quality, just a little bland. The Eloche was better than the tacos. It was a giant bowl of cheese and corn and spices, with which you could dip your corn chips into. I'd like to come back sometime soon and try some of their other menu items. They have several TVs in the place as well, but they were not working. Hopefully they get them up and running soon.

Guacamole & Chips- my FAV guacamole!! It's the best!!
    Katherine W.

We love La Calle!! Best tacos in Trussville and some of the best in Birmingham! Their guacamole is the BEST, it is so fresh every time and I have yet to find anywhere that has guac as good as theirs! The staff is always so friendly and we've never been disappointed here! Also get some ice cream- the lime is my favorite!

Came here since it was National taco day. These are probably the best/most expensive Birria tacos I've had; $4.25 per taco (they charge 50¢ extra for cheese) and you either have to purchase the consume separately or they forgot it ‍ Not a bad spot altogether

In fact, I'm getting warm feelings right now just thinking about my time here. Their vegan option is a nopal taco (tender, marinated cactus). It's excellent, but what makes it next level is that SALSA BAR with the best salsas I've ever had. It reminds me of taquerias in California. I drowned my taco in all of the sauces. In fact, I could probably be happy eating tortillas and salsa here. Because, yes, the tortillas are that delicious. As is that guac. Again, some of the best I've ever had, gimmicky tableside guac included (never felt that was such a great thing anyway). Here, you get a generous portion of the creamiest quality guac you can imagine. I can't report on the margaritas other than to say they look gorgeous. The wine pours are also generous and the prosecco is damn good.

Also the guacamole, the cheese dip and the tacos. They do have a full bar and can do frozen drinks. I loved that you can add your own toppings to your tacos. The tacos come with just meat. You can add onions, limes, cilantro and pickled onions and pickled jalapeños as well as sauce. They had a Verde sauce as well as regular salsa, and a Salsa Borachja sauce with onion, garlic and Mexican beer. It was spicy and delicious. They have plenty of counter seating, a few tables inside and several tables outside. This is a tapas bar more than a testaurant.

When we got seated outside by the friendly staff, we were given menus and free chips and salsa. As I nibbled on the chips and salsa which were just okay I browsed the drink menu. There's a full bar here and plenty of options. Over the course of the afternoon I tried the Frida's Rita and the wonderful rabbit. Both drinks weren't in your face with the tequila mezcal, they were mixed nicely and had a well rounded flavor. I much preferred the Woderful rabbit though as it tasted less watered down and the ginger beer paired with the mezcal was almost quenching. Overall if you're looking for a relaxing spot to enjoy Mexican cocktails this is a good spot! We did feel rushed to get out of there, and maybe it was because we weren't ordering food. Overall good experience however.

What we ordered: -Taco Salad (added steak) -Shrimp Tacos -Rumba Bowl (added shredded chicken and substituted white rice for Mexican rice) I can only attest to how the Rumba bowl tasted, but everyone's food came out incredibly fast. The bowl was a decent portion. It wasn't a ton of food, but it was the *right* amount of food- a fair serving that I would've made for myself at home. The bowl was good and my friends liked their dishes too. My overall consensus: Frida's is your typical Mexican restaurant. If I lived in this area I may eat here more often, but it's not necessarily something I'm likely to drive too from the outskirts of Hoover. I can probably get slightly cheaper and similar Mexican food closer to home. I'm happy to have tried it!
