I spied a cracking Itison deal so my man was on it like a car bonnet. It was 2 meals and drinks for a £10, from a certain part of their menu including a beer or soft drink. I hadn't been to Munro's since the closure of the ol' Captain's Rest. It's such a complete difference. I did like the kinda dinginess of the Captain's Rest and the vibe of the place especially when there was a gig on. Alas I have been converted by the bright lights of Munro's. It looks so much bigger and there's lots of light coming in through the many big windows. The day we went it was the quarter finals of Wimbledon with Andy Murray playing, I was so pleased to see they had it on the teles when we arrived. I was super addicted and was glad to get my fix. My man had to book a table as required by the Itison deal, so I was pleased to get a good size table. The staff were really nice and helpful and explained, when I asked, what we could choose from the menu on the deal. We could choose from the burger, pizzas or hot dog. I opted for the burger, which also had mozzarella and bacon and came with chips. It was very delicious and extremely filling. I would defintiely go back and try more on their menu. It is a tad hipster but visiting on a week day night it was ok but I can imagine it gets pretty mental at the weekends. Good food and somewhere a wee bit different. read more

My Airbnb host recommended this gastropub, and we decided to stop in on the night before we had to catch an early train out to our next destination. On a Wednesday night at 6, it was oddly (or not?) empty except for a couple who sat in a booth by the window and had stopped in for an early dinner before the theatre. The man was noisily scraping his soup bowl, so I clearly had to get the Scottish favorite cullen skink. Creamy and smoky from the haddock, it was a great starter. From there, at the wait staff's recommendation for a stick-it-to-your-ribs option, I ordered the roast pork belly with chorizo. It could have done with more fat rendering; if that had been achieved, it would have been five stars for me. From the previous reviews, you'd guess that you could watch the football here at Munro's, so initially I was disappointed I couldn't just stay and watch the Champions League semifinal. However, true to their kind hospitality, one of their staff kindly drew me a map so I could find another pub 10 minutes' walk away he recommended. Nice one! read more

Last week I paid a visit to Munro's, partly because I was keen to try out their Secret DJ app and be able to pick my very own playlist from the comfort of my bar booth, but also because the menu promised sweet potato fries. I enjoyed being able to choose four songs to soundtrack my swally... 1. Beck - Loser 2. Belle and Sebastian - The Boy with the Arab Strap 3. Lykke Li - Little Bit 4. Howlin' Wolf - Smoke Stack Lightning ...and I wish all pubs offered this option, as it's lovely to be able to hear the music you like and makes for an eclectic experience, with all customers catered for, rather than the usual samey offerings. Then, my crispy, sweet, glorious and golden fries arrived alongside a G&T, which were the perfect partners and were promptly devoured. The place was cool and cosy, with big booths, which are my preferred pub perch. The staff were really friendly and chatted away to us, as well as the other punters, who ranged from young to old and all seemed to be at ease and enjoying this pleasant pub. A personalised playlist, sweet potato chips and a Hendrick's G&T made this the perfect pub for me and I will definitely be popping in again soon for more of the same. read more

Nice Idea - but needs the food to match... I went to Munro's on Monday, drawn in initially not by the food but the Craft Beers on offer. It was a Monday afternoon so the place was quite empty and we got our pick of the seats on offer. Firstly the place looks good, it has been done up well and really ties in with the "Scottish-Munro" theme as there is plenty of photos and artwork about. Beer wise it was great - they have loads of options on the main menu and then another menu printed on the back of an envelope (looked cool and cheap to produce I imagine) with a whole selection of guest ones. I tried three options whilst I was there. Adnams Innovation - Good beer spicy and easy to drink - not as good as the Spindrift from the same Brewers, but still nice. High Wire from Magic Rock Brewery was indeed "Magic" a fruity pale ale which I would have again. Sadly the name of the third option has slipped my mind if I am being honest - it was the poorest of the bunch anyways, so no big loss on that front. (Well unless you go for it and I could have warned you against it..) Food wise we went with our favourite of the share the meals option again, so I had 1/2 a haggis and chilli pizza and 1/2 a gourmet burger and fries. The Pizza was good - Thin based with plenty of haggis and loads of Jalapenos. (Maybe to many of the latter, but that's a matter of personal taste and I am sure local fire eaters and dragons would disagree) The Fries were standard, nothing special and nothing bad about them. Chuck a bit of Mayo on top and I was happy. The Gourmet Burger was poor in my opinion. Now it was going to be a challenge as I has been in "Burger Meats Bun" the day before and had fresh in my mind what a burger should be. This just did not match up, over cooked, bland, unseasoned, lacking sauce and a dreary roll. Not sure what aspect of it was "gourmet", this just seemed like a standard frozen burger option that you would get out a low spec pub. A burger that would be embarrassed to be called a burger. In sum - on the big Craft beer selection they have available I would go back to try some more, but I would probably stick to the "beer bite buckets" options (wasabi peas, olives, stuffed jalapenos, etc) rather than try and have a proper lunch. If they plan to try and sell themselves on the basis of good food as well as great beers - they need to throw a bit more imagination/passion into what they are offering. read more

Took the impoverished offspring to Munros for a big feed recently. Neither she nor her older sibling have recovered from the shock of losing the beloved Captain's Rest and the idea of stepping over the new threshold met with some resistance. It looked pretty spiffy and fresh from the outside, was just around the corner from where I had parked, and they had some great beers and a 2 for 1 pizza deal - so lets just say I got all assertive. There was nothing to fear. Two of us had the pizza's which were pretty darned good, with thin crispy bases just as I like them. Daughter had the freshly beer battered fish and chips, and a decent sample of my pizza and declared them excellent. I thought the desserts were on the expensive side and didn't really have room for one, but the waiter brought an extra spoon for me to pinch a taste from someone elses plate. He really knows how to impress a girl! All in all a very good visit to Munros. I would go again in a heartbeat, especially if I wanted somewhere to blether and chill out with a drink long after the food has been finished. read more

Now I never knew Munro's in it's previous guise as the Captain's rest , so my visit to this fine establishment is a completely new experience for me. What drew me here? The nice clean looking exterior and the promise of craft beer. I've been pleased to see Glasgow taking a hold of the craft beer revolution and running with it, and with the promise of some of the big boys like Magic Rock on tap you need say no more! Also interestingly, these guys are part of the same family as 3 judges which can be no bad thing in my book! Inside there is a range of seating options, intimate little sofas and nice tables by the big windows, take yer pick! Nice simple menu, we opted for the pizzas and weren't disappointed. Hand stretched pizzas with thin crispy bases, the meatball one hit the spot bang on. Attentive staff made our lunch trip pleasant, my apologise to the waitress for us being so vague with everything! Plus one for the tweed sofas (I can't help it!) and with a rotating craft beer selection I will certainly be back here. Hooray for craft beer and pubs that want to serve it in style! read more

I don't live too far from here and it's very handy for an after work drink or a Saturday pre-drinks burger/pizza. The staff has always been very friendly and they offer table service, which is very handy if you're in for the long haul. They offer a tasting bat of craft beers, which is great if you can't decide. If you're on a budget their house beer Munro's is £2.50 a pint and quite drinkable. Their food is quite tasty and their menu includes the usual array of burgers and pizzas. We were quite keen to sample their venison burger at the weekend but unfortunately they had already ran out. Average price is about £8-10 for food, which is usual for the West-end but I do admit I miss their 2 for 1 burger offer on a weekday. Overall it's a nice little pub to meet friends for food and drinks to watch the tennis/football or take part in their Thursday night pub quiz. read more

On Monday, I was trying to decide what to do for dinner. Normally in this house Monday night is Mexican Mondays where I cook a small Mexican feast and everyone digs in, but I hadn't made the effort to go get anything in to make anything for Mexican Monday, and so I was thinking of other options, and that's when Munro's posted on their twitter; "@MunrosGlasgow: Remember quote #freepizza 5-7pm tonight for FREE Pizza when you buy a drink! #MunrosMondayMadness" Buy a drink and get a free pizza? I am 100% sold. My mum and dad even wanted to come when I asked so this must've been a good deal. When we arrived I instantly liked the place; mismatched furniture, contemporary, spacious and friendly staff - what more can you ask for? We were seated by the window and drinks were ordered. Before long, after quoting #freepizza of course, we had our drinks and our pizzas - and what delicious pizzas they were. I had the meatball and herb, which was absolutely wonderful. The pizzas are freshly made, you can just tell by how good they are. The huge bar is fully stocked with at least 15 different beers, some bottled, some on tap, and the service was quick and friendly. I must say I'm not exactly overwhelmed by munros... The beer selection for somewhere styled as a "craft beer pub" isn't very exciting for a start, but at least they do have 3 cask ales, a real cider and four craft keg beers. The food... Most of my table had pizzas which were pretty tasty... Is very hit and miss. The burger looked ok but didn't taste great, the skinny chips were really good but what let everything down for me was their chilli dog. Now I was expecting something gourmet for £7.50 but what i got was one of those turkey/chicken dogs that come in a brine jar at £3 a half dozen, some half cooked onions lazily draped on top and a small pot of chilli on the side- a pot so small most restaurants would only serve condiments in it. I'm disappointed with munros and I hope it gets better, but with Inn Deep pretty close I don't think I'd venture here again without a good excuse. read more

So I have a fundamental rule about not going into a place into which I cannot see from the outside. I tend not to do it unless its some sort of hidden gem or speakeasy type place which I have researched the death out of! This was always the case with the Captains Rest on Great Western Road, despite the good reviews, there was always that...'but what if I have to walk straight back out for some reason?' That's just embarrassing for everyone..." type thought hanging over me! I was so glad to see that Munros not only stripped away the dark and misleadingly unfriendly previous exterior and replaced with a nice wooden frontage with big windows all the way around, exposing a really nicely decked out bar. The décor is really nice, there's a good mix of booths, tables and comfy slouchy seats to fit whatever mood you happen to be in that day. Its now a place you instantly feel comfortable in, and fast becoming my new 'local'. If you like Craft beers there's a good selection (as well as 'regular' drinks of course), the pizzas are delicious and the staff seem very friendly, knowledgeable and good at their jobs overall. I have been a few times now, even picked up a voucher deal for one visit and happily found absolutely no difference in the service or quality whatsoever from full price...which is also still pretty reasonable...Munros is a great addition to this end of Great Western Road and highly recommended. read more

Went along here for their 1st birthday bash and really enjoyed myself. We were sat in a window booth and despite squeezing 6 of us in, was quite comfortable. Having been invited along we received some free food and drinks to sample and everything was delicious, I even liked the jalapeno poppers and peppers scare me! They weren't too hot though and had a lovely crispy coating and creamy cheese stuffing :) The chicken wings were tasty without being too smoky (my personal taste) and I LOVED the pepperoni pizza (also not usually a fan of pepperoni), it was so cheesy! The cajun fries were delicious too! The staff were lovely, very quick and smiley and there was a great atmosphere. I also liked the toilets - plenty of space and nice and clean with an effective hand drier. read more

I remember getting flyers for this place my first and second year of Uni but I never really fancied stopping in. It's on the outside edge of Kelvinbridge so you either need to be heading in from city centre or heading out of Kelvinbridge to really hit this place. A group of us were doing a random pub crawl after an adventure day of crazy golf and drinks and stopped in here. Luckily when we arrived, we were able to grab a table (well, the girls had room to sit anyway) and the guys were able to stand nearby. We stayed in this pub the longest as the drinks were reasonable and the atmosphere was great. I eventually strayed from my usual cider drinks and wanted to see if the bartender could make me an amaretto sour. Not a difficult drink to make, but she decided to add a twist to it with some smokey whisky. This, therefore was not an amaretto sour, rather, a whisky sour. I actually didn't mind the taste, it was very lemony which I loved but it had little to no amaretto in it. No bother, I drank it anyway and was quite pleased with it. I really quite enjoyed this place and I'd be curious to come back for food. read more

DISAPPOINTING!! Him Indoors and I went for an early dinner to our fave local place...this time, nooooot such a fave though! I ventured away from my usual burger choice and went for Mac n cheese...unfortunately is was more like Mac n Greaze!! :-( The flavour was nice enough (not overly cheesy and that's not good!!) but when I got down to the bottom of the dish there was a pool of fat...not appetising AT ALL...I also found a hair in it!! Blee!! The chips were great, as always...but that's all there was going for my main...unfortunate! Him Indoors has an infamous garlic/onion intolerance, so he's very careful to ask about ingredients etc. After being assured there was nothing in the burger that would be trouble, he said there was a distinctly oniony aftertaste...not cool!! (Thankfully he's not had any reaction, so far...fingers crossed!!) The sole reason this is a two starrer (ie. should REALLY have been 1 for the mac and whole experience..!!) is THE PUDDING!! Soooooo tasty!! It saved my meal and my mood!! It came after we had sat for around 10 mins with finished plates on our table...the waitress then forgot what I had ordered and had to come back for a reminder (not a big deal, but I do think this was kinda indicative of the service today...) I realllllly do LOATHE to write a review like this for Munro's as I've had SO many great meals/evenings there, but even Him Indoors said "it's a shame this place is going downhill...) and that's really not like him!! I was a big, big fan of the previous pub on this site (the Captain's Rest), and was a bit gutted when this popular gig venue was replaced by Munro's. Like many long standing members of the west end community, I get attached to specific bars and feel a bit apprehensive when establishments with a good reputation are razed and replaced in the blink of an eye. Any hostility or apprehension was unfounded in this case. Munro's is an airy, clean and contemporary bar with bizarre décor. Its mix of old and new furniture and the deliberate shabby chic vibe is quirky enough to give it identity, but it manages to appeal to a mixed crowd without being too hipster. It's got a relaxed atmosphere but is classy enough to take the in-law's out for a Sunday lunch. All in all, it manages to walk the line between being cool and not being up its own backside. The bar has expanded from its former cabin-like existence, and now stretches languorously along the back wall. There are a lot of European ales and craft beers on offer. It's a good place to try some local breweries and limited edition ales. I've eaten in here a few times and can happily report that it's delicious. Spicy tomato soup with a twist helped brighten up that long winter we just suffered through, and the homemade chips are a popular choice amongst my pals. For somewhere skirting the periphery of the west end, the food menu is priced very reasonably, with the starters being particularly good value for money. Staff are always chipper and great to talk to, adding to the open, warm atmosphere of the place. Overall, been here often enough to offer up a reasonable summary of this place, and it gets a glowing report. Happy belly, happy times, and I've even got a favourite chair now! Saturday evening and Clare and I headed here to meet a couple of friends. Munro's is a place I drive by fairly often but is a little too out of my way to visit, although that might change in the future. I wasn't sure what to expect and it's definitely a bit of a mix. A good range of craft beers and well established quality ales, in a cosy space that's well lit (and by that I mean cleverly, not 'it's really bright"), the metal/wood mix works well, but all of that jars against the loud music, TV screens and cheap lager. This is also reflected in the clientele, there was definitely a lot more people there who were gearing up for heading to a club/out on the pull, than I expected. No bad thing, just added to my general bemusement as to what type of pub this is aiming to be. Still, a reasonable selection of beers, the menu looks good (we didn't try it having just gorged on dumplings) and it's deceptively large so we managed to get a seat in a section off to the side which was a little quieter than the main bar area. Encouragingly the offer flights of beer - three smaller glasses to allow you to taste a few of the options on tap - which could be just the ticket after a wander along Great Western Road. Will be back to try the food for sure - given the other reviews here - and it could well be that I've found a new 'other' pub as it's the 'right' distance between the city centre and my flat (almost halfway...). read more

Have eaten here a couple of times now and really can't fault the food. We arrived early evening - you know, that awkward in-between time where there's still the afternoon sport-watching crowd sitting in their rugby shirts, shouting at the telly, combined with a few folk dolled up to the nines making an early start on their Saturday evening out - and though it was pleasantly busy, we managed to get a table easily enough. Our table was located in the wee alcove to the left just as you come in and it was fab. Cosy because there's only a few tables here and it was away from the door opening every few minutes, with a view of Great Western Road for people watching opportunities. I'm not sure if they stop doing table service at a certain time or we were just unfortunate with our location so weren't in anyone's eyeline. We had to go up to the bar and order, then request they bring us cutlery when they arrived with the food. These little things aside, the food was absolutely fantastic. Burgers are delicious, juicy and filling. The chips were really tasty too. I love the fact that the burgers come with big pieces of gherkin, man-thing doesn't like them, all the more for me! The atmosphere was great, until we were getting near the end of our second pint (West's St Mungo on tap, bonus!) and the music changed from being vaguely cheesy, sometimes 80s to more electronic and thumpy, obviously in expectation of losing the rugby crowd and gaining the night time crowd. We probably wouldn't have stayed for another but that was definitely the decider. All round we had a lovely time, nice and relaxed, great food, fun with people watching and the odd bit of sport watching thrown in. Will definitely go back. read more

Burgers burgers burgeeeers! Gotta love a good burger and they do some cracking ones at Munros! Kris B., his brother Cammy and I popped in for some pre-night out munching (read: lining of the stomach :P) and were greeted with Munro's decent-sized menu containing many burger options, as well as pizzas, hot dogs, and other filling fayre. I opted for a Scottish burger, whilst Kris took the spicy option with a 'Hot Stuff' burger and Cammy chose a Hickory Smoked n' bacon burger. The burgers arrived on time; all three looked huge and amazing, great value for money clearly! Taste-wise: juicy, succulent beef, seasoned well, toppings were not skimped on and they were all delightfully messy in the way that a good burger should be! For me, my haggis had a lovely kick, tempered by the mellow creamy cheese and the delicious burger sauce. Kris was duly sweating buckets with his Hot Stuff and Cammy appeared to enjoy his hickory smoked burger also. My only slight issue was the fries; I can't explain it but to me they tasted like they'd been brought in from Maccy D's. Meh. The wide range of beers and ales made up for it though; I finally got to try some of Drygate's Outaspace Apple Ale, a taste sensation! Let's begin with a brief history lesson. Long, long ago in the midsts of time (well, last year anyway) there was a pub called the Captain's Rest. They had live music, cheap drinks, TVs that showed sports and it was "awright". I do recall having a chat with a woman there who swore she could tell the future once, but that's not a regular feature, I'd imagine. Munro's inhabits the same physical space as the Captain's Rest, but it totally changes the vibe and feeling. I admit, I'd been here before and wasn't best impressed by it. I thought the staff were slow and unfriendly, the place looked like it was trying too hard to be cool, and it just felt icky, if you know what I mean. I didn't come back for a few months. Last night, I went back to see if things had changed, ad to my delight, they had. The look of the pub had grown on me - perhaps settling in and aging? - and the staff were much more friendly, exceptionally so in fact. The whole pub felt happy, uplifting... just nice. Pretty impressed with the choice of ales on tap, and in bottles, and very fairly priced as well. Also, I had some food while I was in, an exceptional chilli dog and fries at a very reasonable £7.50. There is no graceful way to eat a chilli dog, people - don't even try! Safe to say I was wrong the first time I was here, or perhaps it was a bad day? I don't know. All I know is that I will be back in Munro's, sooner rather than later. read more

I reviewed Munro's when it first opened in place of the legendary Captain's Rest. Fast forward two and a half years and I think Munro's deserves its FOURTH star as being one of the best craft beer bars in Glasgow. Although a chain pub (Maclay Inns), Munro's has a nice feel about the place. The staff are fairly knowledgeable and will let you sample any of the 8 craft beers / ales they have on tap. The beers rotate regularly and most recently I've had some outstanding craft beers from the likes of Tiny Rebel, Harbour and Adnams. Although a tad on the expensive side (for beer), I think its fair considering some of the excellent beers on offer. Amazingly I have yet to eat here, but I've had wiffs of the burgers etc going past me before and the sniff says "Aye looks gid!" Defo one of my favourite beer haunts in Glasgow at the moment. Located at the bottom of Great Western Road, Munro's describes its self as a craft beer bar and I would say they have nailed the description. It has obviously had quite a bit of money spent on the uber cool deliberately mismatched furniture and designer tyre lighting....yes as in a car tyre! With it's exposed bricks. crumbling pillars and wooden floors it screams 'we don't do cocktails! order a beer woman!' The staff seemed pleasant enough, I did enjoy my 18 year old nephew ordering his favourite beverage a West beer and being ID'ed...yeah you guessed it he left it at home! Much to my amusement he ordered a coke and continued to seeth through lunch that he had been denied. The member of staff apologised but if you can't produce id after being challenged you can't get served... quite right too, serves him right for leaving it at home. The menu at Munro's is a really tasty looking mix of bar meals including burgers, pizzas and hot dogs, on this occasion we all opted for the dogs. I was a little bit more adventurous and chose the chilli dog which was served with fried onions and skinny fries. I only had a couple of minor grumbles with my dog - the buns were all split the whole way through so with a chilli dog it was impossible to pick it up (a hot dog does not taste the same if its eaten with a fork and knife) also the portion of chilli which arrived in a ramekin was a pretty measly portion, once it was tipped on to the dog. This was a shame because the chilli was delicious and really added something to the dish. The skinny fries had a nice bite to them - I know that sounds like a weird comment but I don't really like crispy skinny fries. We decided to keep it to one course today and for 3 it came in at a very reasonable £25. All in all a perfectly decent pub lunch in a nice bar where I would definitely go back to eat again. read more

Having arrived in here this evening, I was welcomed by a very friendly member of staff showing me the menu and explaining the beers. I ordered the sliders, fries and a Belgium beer, I have to say the sliders were fantastic. The bun they use is exquisite and I can't fault any of the food. The onion rings on top were a nice touch. While I miss the Captain's Rest, this is a fine place to go and grab some lovely beer and feel all cosy in the winter - real fire and everything! Nice, if slightly unadventurous, selection of craft beer and the food isn't bad either - staff are friendly and there is loads of seating too, including outside in the summer. It's a bit hit and miss for atmosphere and they do have loads of TVs which is fine if you want to watch sportsball or whatever but it can lead to the place being filled with rowdy wankers all shouting at the screen. In summary, nice wee pub but avoid if there is sport on and you're looking for a quiet pint! read more

This lil joint is about a 5 minute walk from my front door, so I figured I'd give it a try. I was completely underwhelmed not only with the service but the quality of food as well. We walked in an no one acknowledged us so we sat down at a booth. We watched as other tables had servers come over to them and take their orders and replenish beverages but after 10 minutes no one approached our table. My husband went to the bar to order our drinks and food. The bartender was short with him and said someone would have been over eventually. The bartender brought our two beers over after another 10 minutes and said someone else would bring our food over. Great, thanks. We ordered nachos and cheese fries. The nachos were what you might expect at the movies. Everything was clearly premade and straight from a can or bottle. The guacamole was more like avocado mash with a few onion pieces in it. The cheese fries were interesting. I'm not sure how bbq sauce fits into the equation but it did. We drank our beers, ate some of the food, paid the bill and left. We don't plan to go back. read more

wow! they really threw this place together quick! was just a couple weeks ago the Captain's Rest was being torn out, now all of a sudden.... Munro's. To be honest, i was a big fan of the Captain's Rest, i loved how dark and dingy it was, the ripped red leather seats on the booths, live music rumbling from downstairs, so it's fair to say i had already decided that Munro's was going to be ''just another pretentious samey West End pub''. Well, i was wrong. Munro's is completely different from the Captain's Rest, but is really good in a totally different way. As you walk in, the bar is now facing you against the back wall, and with the massive windows it makes the pub seem so much bigger. There are a few different areas to sit, booths by the windows, big tables in the middle, and, where i sat, in front of an open log fire to the right of the bar. There were a few quirky additions too that i liked; the lighting is made up from a big metal surrounding holding car tyres from the ceiling with chains and bare light bulbs hanging down at different lengths, and the seating is a bit odd, things don't really match but it looks good that way. It kind of reminds me of a bit of a more up market looking 'Junkyard Dogs', for anyone who remembers that pub! I went in at lunch time in the middle of my split shift so no alcohol was consumed, but both myself and my boyfriend had lunch. The menu is quite basic looking, so we both opted for soup and a sandwich at £6 a pop. I had the meatball sandwich and Alex had a BLT, we swapped halves and had the oriental flavored spicy chicken soup. The soup was amazing, so tasty! I could still taste it when i went back to work! The sandwiches were good too, the bread was really soft and fresh and both the meatballs and the BLT were tasty. I probably preferred the BLT though, as the meatballs came with rocket and i'm not a big fan of that, plus the bacon in the BLT was so tasty and had no stringy bits of fat on it, ensuring that what you hadn't bitten yet stayed in the sandwich and not on your face! We used to like this place for its great beer selection, good service and strong menu, especially the nachos. It still does good beer but the rest has declined in the last year. The menu is much reduced and the service isn't as good. The last time we were in they seemed to forget our food order despite it not being busy. read more

Great food on the £5 mid week menu! Impressed with my chickpea & spinach burger. Great value

The menu isn't exactly inspiring, but I settled on the steak pie and it was dreadful. Honestly the worst steak pie I've tasted, and the sides were rubbish. They have a really poor selection of soft drinks too, and their beer selection isn't as good as they make out. It's less "west end pub", more "crappy local". You'd be better off in wetherspoons. read more

Slightly disappointed if i'm honest. Really good service and polite staff and is stunning inside and out, however, maybe a daft wee thing for me, many of the bottled beers were served with Conique pint glasses resembling cheap Tesco tumblers. I wasn't blown away with the choice of beers either but there is some decent stuff if your prepared to pay nearly £5 a pint and £3.80 a bottle. I had a Chilli Dog (£7.50) which was a really cheap hotdog in a soggy bun with a little bowl of Chili con carne, served with McDonalds style chips that weren't particularly tasty, really resembled something you'd get from a burger van at a football stadium. The Cheeseburger (£8) was pretty decent however, though the same again with the rubbish chips. Munro's is a nice pub and has only just opened, but there are a dozen pubs in Glasgow with a bigger range of beers and better grub. read more
