This place was honestly not it! If I could I'd give it zero stars. the food wasn't great, and the overly priced! We got an eel bowl and the rice was cold. My gyoza was also cold on the inside. The service was honestly the worst. Waited like 20 min before we even got asked what we wanted. The server we had honestly NEVER came around. And the coke we ordered never came! The check out the processes also took forever, she said I'll be right back with the machine to check out And then went off to serve someone else. Definitely not recommending. We only stopped by because it was on the way back to our hotel, and it was opened. I went up to ask our server if she could check us out we had been waiting , she said sorry I was helping them getting their order. I told her it was fine, she apologized and followed by asking what happened. And I let her know the service wasn't the best, I let her know that she never came around to check in, we never got our drink and the food wasn't the best. She followed by saying I'm sorry you feel that way. I said okay, please check us out she checked us out, and then slammed the card down on the table and walked away. We started out meal with the pork and shrimp potstickers. The portion was large enough for 2 people, but each potsticker had very little inside. They were a bit overcooked as well. I had the butterfish. It was very tasty, but the portion was very small and the vegetables with it was a small portion and very 'al dente'. My husband had the ahi. The portion was a bit bigger in that it was accompanied by a ball of rice. We were both disappointed with the size of the portion. It is a tiny little restaurant upstairs. It was a rainy night and one set of stairs was totally out in the open while the other was partially covered but very slippery. Taking up the former Kimama Ramen space, it's a wonderful addition. My first time here, a friend and I gorged on ramen, gyoza, karaage mochiko chicken, tempura and soft crab rolls, and popcorn shrimp. The restaurant boasts of their small shareable plates, but they're not small at all! We ended up taking half of the appetizers home. If anything, come for the wonderful service and tonkatsu broth, which is savory and heavenly. I prefer my ramen al dente, and you should try it that way too. Great portions and quality ingredients! We had the tempura roll (sauce on the side) and chicken karaage & edamame. My rolls were excellent and everything delicious. We got takeout from this busy new addition to Koloa. The staff was great, they let me know it would take 30 minutes to get the food ready to make sure I still wanted to order. We got the miso butter fish, a California roll, a tempura roll, tempura shrimp and the chicken tenders. Everything was great (especially the butter fish), well packaged, and ready 10 minutes early. The only complaint is that their chicken tenders are really chicken karage in case you're ordering for that picky kid who doesn't like flavor. Looking forward to coming back! read more

We got draft beer and a strong shochu made in Wailea, ramen, tuna sashimi, gyoza, cucumber sunomono and yakitori plate. They sat us next to a Kirin neon sign and had a a view of others (ie saying its Toki Time). Everything was tasty!! Interesting the shrimp and accordion cut on the sunomono but I think classic marinated with rice wine vinegar and wakame would be better if want to add a twist maybe smash it and add garlic. Came here on a Thursday with no reservations (you have to call i think) around 6-7pm but was still seated. Small cozy family like atmosphere at least for me. I didn't realize until after I left that the owner was there cooking the whole time and saying goodnight to all the customers as they left. He totes made me laugh!! We'll keep coming back. Terrible front of house staff. I walked in as the door was unlocked, the person behind the bar smiled at me as I waited to be seated making me think they were open. There was a waitress wiping tables and she just started at me as I walked in. After standing for about 2 mins she told me "oh we open at 4.." in a way that made me feel an inconvenience. I'm not dramatic or impatient but instead of staring at your customers and being rude why not close, lock your door, and put a closed sign. Rough start at this place. If you aren't drinking cold sake or Japanese beer pre-game! Their only vodka is Popov...a plastic handle runs $10. So they need help on the liquor/drink list. We had such a wonderful evening here! This restaurant was opened by Chef Jay from the Stevenson's Library at the Grand Hyatt. From most of the tables you can see the chefs making the food. It's a very chill, yet vibrant mood inside. The place was full inside and out on a Monday night. Our server, Tony was very attentive and friendly. We really enjoyed chatting with him. I don't know how he does it because their were so many customers and he was always so calm and on top of everything. If he noticed we needed another drink or our food was ready, he was on it. Plus, he took the time to talk with us. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura roll. It was seriously the BEST roll I have ever had! The rice was beyond perfect. The tempura shrimp was hot. Mmmmmmm!!! We visited this establishment twice and both experiences were satisfactory not overwhelming. Upon our first visit the Hamachi Sashimi was very good, firm and tasty. On our second visit the same dish tasted watery and not as good as the first. The Butterfish was good firm and served hot, oddly the chef placed a salad under the fish, creating soggy lettuce. The second time around I asked for the salad separately, they compiled. The wife ordered California Roll we were informed that they ran out imitation crab, interesting. Wanted sushi amd found the Osaka thru Yelp. Restaurant is upstairs and found it after wandering around the shipping center for a few minutes. Started with the assorted pickles and they were very good. The Ahi tuna nigiri was the best tuna we've had outside of Japan. The hamachi sashimi was also very fresh and flavorful.
