The place is small and a hidden gem. The staff was very courteous and greeted us right away. Even though the place was full, they made arrangements to seat us well. The chef was knowledgeable on what ingredients each food item had. This helped us choose and customize to fit with our strict vegetarian preferences. We ordered Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai, yellow curry and stir fry vegetables. Each one of them had amazing flavors. Stir fry could have been even better with less cabbage. Chilli oil is a must try! Originally stopped by for hibachi and was disappointed to find that they haven't had it in a while. So glad we ended up staying! This ended up being one of if not the best meal we had all week in Kauai and it's right around the corner from where we are staying at the Sheraton Kauai Resort! We only managed to get a photo of one of our four meals because we hounded the food so quickly, but you can imagine how good the rest of our food was when the pineapple combination rice looked like this. If I could give it 3.75 I would. It's on the second floor so it's a little difficult for those that have mobility issues. The windows were open, so a breeze did come through although it was quite warm in there. They have several tables on the skinny balconies that wrap around the restaurant. Our main server was devoid of any emotion whatsoever - rather strangely robotic. There was another gentleman that was wearing an apron who was either a cook/manager or the owner and he was running around filling in the gaps. Of course, as is the cost of all food in Kauai, the prices were really high for the quantity given. They charge $14 for four potstickers so we did not get those. We opted for the Larb chicken and the Thai basil chicken which we requested spicy, actually very spicy and it came out totally mild. They brought us some garlic chili oil which was nearly rancid. The flavor of the Thai basil chicken was really good though with lots of wok hay. The quantity of the larb chicken was at least twice as much as the Thai basil chicken. It was milder, but it was still tasty. They also serve sushi rolls however I'm not quite at the point of feeling comfortable paying $25 for one roll of sushi. Visited on a Wednesday night - it was moderately busy with a singer playing ukulele, recorder, flute, electric cello and many genres of music. We tried their crispy mahi, pad Thai, pad ka prao, and pineapple curry and were very impressed with the ingredients, flavor, and presentation. The food was really good good, average portion sizes. Beautiful plating including fresh flower on the plate. The interior is beautiful in this second floor restaurant, so be aware that there are stairs to entrance if an issue. I do not know if there is an elevator option. We got there about an hour before closing and were seated right away. The service was adequate for sure, but was not welcoming and it appeared that maybe a conflict was happening with the workers present. That is my only negative, the vibe of the server. We walked in and noticed it was quite hot with the afternoon sun beating down on the building and no air-conditioning. We sat outside and it was cool enough. The tables were kind of strange our party of two each had a small round table that overlapped the others adjacent table. We shared a green curry and a drunken noodle. Both dishes were flavorful. We had the best time in Kauai, and this little Thai spot was one of the highlights of our trip! We were just exploring one afternoon, craving some Thai food, and stumbled across this place completely by accident and wow, what a lucky find! From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly. Our waiter was super attentive, and Lisa, the bartender, was just the sweetest. we told her to surprise us with some drinks that would "make us happy," and she totally delivered. (Let's just say, she knows her stuff!) We started with the gyoza. It was perfectly crispy and flavorful and then I had the drunken noodles with tofu. My husband went with their recommended spicy beef dish, and both were so good. Like, "don't talk to me, I'm eating" kind of good. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and full of flavor. It just has the right amount of spice. What I really loved was how local and relaxed it felt. No pretense, just good people, good food, and good vibes. Found this place last minute and was pleasantly surprised! It's located on the second floor of the Koloa Village and offers a great mix of hibachi, sushi, and Thai cuisine. The food was amazing. The portions are a little on the smaller side, but everything we tried was really good. Hands down, they have the best Pad Thai I've ever had in my life, seriously, it was that good! We stumbled upon this restaurant in Kōloa by chance and were SO glad we tried it. The service was perfect - each person who helped us went out of their way to be kind and helpful. This is a cute little locally owned Thai spot we found on a whim in Koloa town plaza. Husband and I got the Green Curry with Crispy Chicken (aka Katsu) and it was very authentic, good spice level & surprisingly good portion with tons of veggies inside to fill you up. The flavor was great, we ate all of it! I also got my usual favorite Thai dish, Tom Kha Gai. I usually get it to gauge my liking towards a Thai restaurant. Yummy Thai I didn't realize the options were rather limited for Sunday dinner, but this place provided a delish meal. Their combination pineapple fried rice was probably my favorite. Loaded with meats and veggies and served with fresh pineapple pieces. Their pad Thai was also excellent (although the portion was on the smaller side). Look upstairs! Second floor location so easy to miss if you're looking at all the restaurants on the first level. This is truly a find for a restaurant, beautiful, clean and very casual. Although casual it has an upscale look. It looks fresh and new as it is relatively new opened just months ago. The menu is typical for Thai but yet there's enough choice to satisfy most tastes. What amazed me was the presentation of the dishes, very different and much more beautiful than Thai dishes back home in California. I chose the Old Town noodles that comes with tofu and pork. It was excellent, all of the ingredients fresh and well prepared. I very much enjoyed the fresh bok choi. The tofu was excellent and firm, yet delicate to the bite. The sauce was flavorful and it was a hit. The portions are very good and the price point quite reasonable. Service was friendly and professional. I hope this place does well. The food is absolutely phenomenal! The papaya salad was a great opener. I have to say that if you come here, you NEED to order at least one curry. They are the most flavorful that I have had across a number of states...no joke! Their mahi mahi in our green curry and the shrimp in the yellow pineapple curry were both cooked perfectly, along with vegetables. The portions were the perfect size and we even ordered a thaiquerina that was very enjoyable. The music was very mood-setting with low key vibes and the decor is awesome. We will definitely be back here again when we are back on the island. The price is reasonable for the island and is comparable to San Jose, CA too! We had dinner at Koloa Tai on a Friday night. We had a reservation, and since it wasn't busy when we arrived, we were seated right away near the door. Service started off fast and friendly. We ordered the gyoza appetizer, which was really flavorful and cooked perfectly. My wife got the drunken noodles with tofu and loved it. I asked our server for a recommendation and went with the spicy beef. It was excellent and had great flavor. We each had a drink, and the bartender, Lisa, did a great job. She made really good drinks and was friendly and attentive. While we were eating, the place started to fill up quickly. By the time we finished, almost every table was taken. It looked like there was just one server handling all the tables, and even though he was busy, he still took good care of us. The food was outstanding, the drinks were great, and the atmosphere felt like a local spot, not a touristy place. Very authentic and delicious Thai! We got the Thai tea, crab rangoons, pina colada (served in a half pineapple!), khao soy dish, and drunken noodles with chicken. Super stoked we picked this spot for our first meal in Koloa. A word to the wise that the spices are legit and on the Thai scale. our recent visit to kōloa thai bistro was deeply disappointing, both in terms of food quality and customer service. The food was severely lacking. We ordered the Tom Yum soup for $20, and it was a very small portion that looked and tasted watered down. The rest of our dishes were just "okay," and the spice levels were incredibly inconsistent across the board. However, the biggest issue was the service. While our server was initially polite, we were largely neglected throughout the meal. We had to ask twice for basic items like napkins and never received them. Because of the subpar food and lack of attentive service, I opted to leave a small tip. When I went to pay, the server hovered over the terminal and watched closely as I entered my card details, which felt invasive and awkward. To make matters worse, he actually handed the terminal back to me (after he watched me put the tip amount in and stopped me from proceeding) and stated, "In America, you must tip 10%-15%." As someone who lives in America, I found this comment incredibly patronizing, inappropriate, and culturally insensitive. A tip is meant to reflect the quality of service provided, not demanded after a table has been ignored. Between the overpriced, disappointing food and the confrontational, unprofessional staff, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning. read more

We were looking for a place to eat on a Saturday evening that had plenty of vegetarian options. This place checked the box. It's located upstairs in the Koloa shopping district. Even without a reservation we were seated right away. Our server entered our order into a tablet right at the table. Appetizers came quickly - pot stickers and egg rolls. Both had beautiful presentation and tasted fantastic. The order our food and drinks came out was not ideal. My drink came next (note: piña colada comes in a frozen pineapple!) and then my Mahi-mahi and my hubby's Hawaiian curry. 5 minutes later the other two entrees came out with the mai tai and virgin special drink of the day. My Mahi-mahi was ok. I was hoping for something more moist and the crusted portion of it didn't have distinct flavor. However, the other three entrees were a hit - vegetarian noodles with tofu, Hawaiian curry with shrimp, and cashew chicken (served in a 1/2 pineapple). read more
