Cooper Stadium was a minor league baseball stadium that was packed full of people and one of the heartbeats of the smaller Columbus Sports Scene that is in the shadow of OSU. I enjoyed coming here twice. It was a great place to watch game and I did so twice, but sadly it's been torn down now, recently in fact. It will be missed.

In 2009, a new stadium will supposedly be ready in the Arena District for the Clippers. Still, the history of Cooper will be missed. Though any of the AAA team's games here are a blast, the time to come is Dime a Dog night. Every Monday when the team plays at home, hot dogs are available for $.10. It's not uncommon to see folks with boxes of them. And there's is Leinenkugel's on tap too! Columbus gets a lot of grief for not hosting pro teams from any of the "big three" sports. The Clippers are an asset, though, and a game is a great way to spend a summer evening.

This is a small-ish festival in the heart of Grove city. I went on a rainy Saturday, and luckily,…read morethanks to the way it is set up, with many local businesses like Plank's being right in the middle of it, was able to stay dry when it poured, enjoy the festival when the rain let up. Tickets were $25 for 8 samples and a wine glass (10 samples if purchased ahead of time), 3 additional tickets for $10. This seemed pretty steep for two people, especially one who isn't that into wine, so we decided to share the one glass. I foind most vendors were very generous in their "samples", and very welcoming, knowledgeable about their wines. I was a little disappointed in the fact that most "dry" whites were Chardonnays, which to me are not dry wines at all, but did find a couple of Pinot Grigios, and some wonderful dry reds. There were artists, jewelers and other non-wine related booths as well. I was hoping to find a unique handmade anklet, and while I did not find what I was looking for, I did enjoy the jewelry booths. If you like wine and have never been, it is worth a visit, and even if you don't, it may still be worth a visit for the food trucks and other exhibits.

Went to Skate America in Grove City and don't ever plan on going back. Their parking lot is small,…read moregravel, and has many holes. This is a very small facility; I've never seen a smaller roller rink. There should have been a cap of how many people allowed in, because it made skating and just moving around inside so difficult. Everything looks at least 30-40 years old here, our booth was wobbly and unstable. The carpet was old and stained. It was very challenging to move around on the carpeted areas, but also the rink, due to the extreme number of people in the building. I felt like I was in a packed bar or club. I can't overstate that there were way too many people and children. The rink itself is painted concrete, which I've never seen before. It is somewhat uneven, you can feel the small rises and falls in the concrete, but it's not too severe. There were A LOT of children with the little PVC skate-aid things, but skating as an adult was made extremely challenging & nearly impossible because of this. The music they played was fun, and there was some interactions from the DJ, like a backwards skate only, and "all girls only skate," and then "all boys only skate," for a song each. I did like that there are ceiling fans over the rink, to cool you down. The ceiling felt really low, which I think made the whole place feel even smaller. The bathrooms were pretty clean and well stocked, but I didn't like that there were no hooks on the bathroom stall doors. They did let me bring my water bottle in, which I appreciated. There were lockers, but we didn't rent one. Overall, this place is probably fine if you're a kid, but terrible if your an adult skater looking to skate. Go to United Skates or America on Refugee instead!!
