It was magical attending my first ever Ohio State game here at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, OH. For a…read more7:30pm primetime game in early October, I got to watch the defending national champion and #1 ranked Buckeyes play against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Just standing in front of Ohio Stadium was a surreal feeling. Affectionately known as "The Horseshoe", it is an iconic landmark in college football. Opened in 1922, fast forward 100 years later and the stadium is still in terrific condition. Capacity says 102,780 yet towards the end of the 3rd quarter, an announcement was made over the loudspeakers that attendance reached 105,000 for this game. Just an incredible number! It's like...the entire city of Columbus, OH comes together and celebrates Ohio State football and their rich heritage and gridiron success on Saturday gamedays. I purchased my ticket about 1 week ahead of time on TickPick and paid $150 (all included) for a seat in Section 26C and Row 40, near the top of the visiting side stands. The seat was parallel to the 30-yard line and views were unobstructed. I had no complaints about sitting too high up. My only issue was the timing of buying my ticket. When re-checking prices the day of the game, I realized had I waited and done more price discovery, similar seats in my section were going for just $40. Ouch! I paid way too much, lol. But still, for being a lifelong college football fan, no real price mattered in the end. It's about having memories that are priceless. In fact, just the week prior to this Ohio State game, I attended a "Whiteout Game" at Penn State and paid $450 for a seat. Ohio Stadium allows fans to enter through the gates 2 full hours before kickoff. During that time, I walked around the exterior of the stadium. My best photos came from the backside entrance near the tennis courts. Yeah, if you walk towards the endzone side of "the horseshoe", you'll discover tennis courts and if you keep walking behind the courts, you'll notice Ohio Stadium in the background and in my opinion, it's worthy of a picture. Off to the side of the tennis courts is a cool Ohio Statue statue that fans were taking photos in front of. It said..."The Incomparable Script Ohio, Established 1936". For this 7:30pm game, Ohio State's team entrance onto the field was electric. Fireworks shot out from behind the scoreboard like a cannon and made for an incredibly colorful display in the sky with the fading sunset. Every time Ohio State scored a touchdown, more shooting fireworks lit up the night. Also behind the stadium scoreboard were 2 residential towers lit up in red. Not sure if these red towers shine every evening or just for Ohio State games. It was cool looking nonetheless. Ohio State dominated the game from start to finish. They defeated Minnesota 42 -3, so by the time the 4th quarter started, half the stadium was empty. I stayed until the end regardless. Who knows when I'll be able to return to Columbus for another game, so I savored every moment. Finally, I must give total credit to Ohio State's band. They were fantastic. Throughout the game they played the school's signature song..."Hang On Sloopy", a tradition since 1965 made famous by The McCoys. After the game was completed, the band continued playing Hang On Sloopy as they marched out of Ohio Stadium, ending another Ohio State game in classic fashion. Overall, it was a true joy to visit Ohio Stadium and watch the Buckeyes play football in primetime. Long been a To-Do List sports goal of mine, sitting beside 105,000 fans rooting for Ohio State was an indescribable feeling that every college football fan should experience. Thanks for having me Buckeyes.

Even from the outside, it was incredibly impressive and much larger than I expected. It was really cool to see such an iconic stadium in person. Whether you're a football fan or just appreciate seeing famous landmarks, it's definitely worth a quick stop if you're in the area. We're glad we took a few minutes to check it out!

I contacted Ticketmaster who told me it was the arenas issue. When I reached out to the arena they basically said I should have gone to customer service during the concert. Honestly who even knows to do that in the middle of a show. After several emails back and forth, customer service eventually offered me tickets to another concert as compensation. I picked Justin Timberlake which again required traveling. The night before leaving, the concert was cancelled and rescheduled. Not the arenas fault, but the notice came way too late for me to cancel my hotel. When it was rescheduled, I traveled from Chicago to Columbus and my friend flew in from Houston and while we were literally on our way to the arena the concert was cancelled again. At that point I was beyond frustrated because what are the odds. I had been in communication with LaToya who said she was working with her supervisor to make this right, but after that I followed up multiple times and got completely left on read. I started a new email thread and the last message I got months ago was just sorry. This is a multi million dollar industry and they could not care less about how customers are affected, the costs, the travel, the time, the hotels. It is extremely disappointing and I never heard back again. And now it is 2026 smh. Now the Director, Brook wants to finally respond and flex her muscle. Letting me know its not their fault and basically oh well. I get it its not their lost but they could have said that months ago. Instead of avoiding and ignoring my follow up emails

They're doing great the last few years. A $200 seat at Nationwide for the Bluejackets is about $10 here, less for kids and students. Get there early and grab a seat right beside the ice. Bathrooms and food are across the way in the main building, so plan ahead (and the concessions prices are high.) Also bring a blanket or cushion; metal seats are cold. The games are fun. The arena has true character with tons and tons of black and white photographs from many Ohio State sports dynasties from the past I remember when the Ohio State Buckeyes men's basketball played here under coach Fred Taylor, Eldon Miller, Gary Williams,. The Value City Arena is the new home and is a great place, but it just lacks the character of St. John Arena. (which is understandable) I've seen many concerts at St. John Arena as well, and there really is not a bad seat in the house, based upon the seating arrangements. The most popular event still held at the arena is the Skull Session, the pep rally before football games. Two hours prior to kickoff of the football game, The Ohio State University Marching Band performs Buckeye favorites, and the players, cheerleaders and coaches speak to the crowd. I really hope that the university does not replace or demolish this wonderful piece of history, in Columbus.

Since that was 10+ years ago, obviously lots of things have changed. I do love the wooden interior. It has more of a classic tavern feel than most of the newer/more cheaply-built bars in the campus area. It has high ceilings and two main rooms, the one you walk into with the bar, and another to the right with a small stage and dance floor/high top tables. The first room has 2 pool tables, which is why I have visited more recently when some of my other go-to pool spots are too busy. Drinks are on the cheap side, with most of your basic options but this is not a spot to expect a specialty cocktail or a super wide variety of spirits. It's not a bad spot for pitchers of beer or your basic shots and mixed drinks. I would definitely rate Ruby higher because I've had great experiences there, but the service lately has been hit or miss. The last time the bartenders refused to change the music to a different channel, insisting on playing country and encouraging us to buy each song we wanted via touch tunes. On this same visit, the staff seemed super unfriendly serving drinks, and another staff member was mopping the floor while customers were still ordering drinks at around 10:30 on a Friday night. I understand that this place tends to close when customers are gone toward the end of the night, but it seemed like the staff really didnt want anyone to be there. I wouldn't think ownership would want staff to be pushing paying customers out on one of the busiest nights for bars. I'm sure I'll be back at some point, but if I go in to check if there's a pool table open and notice any of those same staff members from the last time, I might just head home.

I had been to plenty of events when it was the MLS Crew's home field. I personally do not think this is prime real estate for a festival. I parked at a garage at Columbus State and took a shuttle. The drop off area was still a bit of a walk from there to check in and go in. Some of sound was not great for a few of the stages. Some video was spotty too. Only one free water refill station. Thankful for that, but only one area? On a positive note, the bathrooms in the stadium section were clean and operational. I get it, this isn't the main stadium for the soccer team anymore, but things still take place here. Keep the sound and video up to snuff. The traffic was a big problem for a lot of people, planning on the facility, city and promoter have to be more in sync for a better rating if I am to return in future years.

Very unprofessional and when I asked the security to stop antagonizing the situation and that we are trying to leave as fast as my brother could walk, the security continued to be an asshole and antagonist, trying to escalate the situation into something even more than what it needed to be. The fact that I feel my brother was being discriminated against and we were being targeted because of that is ridiculous. Have some patience and at least some empathy or offer some help to those who are disabled. Trying to flex your little power and position was not the thing to do. I understand being tired and wanting to go home... WE ALL WANTED TO GO HOME! But the unprofessionalism of this guy was ridiculous. Completely unnecessary. So to this guy, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't act like this if you were actually by yourself and didn't have police presence around. So don't try to flex your muscles or stroke your ego on someone who is disabled.
