Came in because I crossed, threaded the receptacle for the spark plug. I didn't trust myself to repair it. Understand that going to a dealership is always going to be more expensive than mom and Pop shops, but they do everything right. The technicians have better training. They're also more likely to pick up trends on your vehicle if the brand matches the dealerships (i drive a ford). They'll also have a higher likelihood of discovering recalls and warranty replacements. Tim was my service guy. He was always in good communication with me, super easy to talk to, and honest. He not only ensured that the thread was repaired, but the other two spark plugs were replaced. He also gave me advice for an ongoing issue that I had going on with my car. He seems like he genuinely cares, and is knowledgeable. I grew up working in car dealerships (mom was a parts manager and I worked every day over summers from age 8-17), and developed a good radar for good service guys. Being my closest dealer I gave Murphy the opportunity to meet/beat the offers I got and they were able to do so. . While no car buying experience is fun when you are relieving yourself of tens of thousands of dollars, Mike Ezekiah and their manager were able to put together the deal and in the end I left very happy. Had the vehicle in for recalls and simple oil changes only to have other issues come up a day after I get the car back. Simple things that should have been noticed. Or questionable coincidences that don't make sense after the car was just in for service. My warranty is ending and I will not be going back. I sent them all the documentation from the DMV, to include my pay stubs for address and state tax verification but they simply refused to work with me for a sale of a vehicle. Their pride took over when I suggested them to call a D.C. area Ford for guidance on processing paperwork and benefits members fir military members alike. Murphy Ford is probably a top seller which can afford letting go of my business and other military members. Can't even hear the conversation you are trying to have with the half wit salesperson sitting across from you. Someone talking so loud you can hear this person in the entire showroom. DO NOT GO HERE. I financed a car mid January, and by early march the transmission died. It has been in the shop ever since. The car stalled out on a major roadway nearly killing me and my family. The staff and customer service are terrible. They have had my car for almost 2 months now, and when I inquire on a new car or my money back, I was told my only option of ditching the thing would be to let it get repossessed. The loaner car they gave me, isn't even a comparable vehicle to the one I am paying for. I have a large family and being in a sedan long term is not an option for us, yet they have also refused to give me a bigger loaner car, claiming they do not have one. They posted a truck on Facebook and I saw it immediately. I contacted the salesman right away and said that I wanted to purchase it. We began doing the paperwork over the phone and I put down a deposit. He even discussed the sale with his sales manager as I had some questions. I was even sent a pic of the truck with a sold sign in it to assure me that it was mine. The next morning I was sent a few texts about them preparing the truck in their shop. An hour later, the salesman contacted me to tel me that the truck was sold to someone else that was coming in the next few days. Apparently someone dropped the ball in letting everyone know there was a deposit on it, even the sales manager. From the beginning I was assured that if I bought a new vehicle from them, that the service department would make good on anything and everything wrong with the vehicle if something should come up. I bought a 2019 F-350 Platinum from them (yes, these are DAMN expensive) and I bought a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty as well. On my way home, I noticed a significant vibration in the steering wheel around 70mph and went away around 85mph. I took the truck back to them several times and to no avail, they could never figure it out. First, they told me the could not feel the problem, that these model year trucks don't have the same issue the previous generation did. They rebalanced the tires and sent me on my way. I asked for more, but they would not budge. On my way home, I again told them it was still there. When I took it back, I went for a ride with a tech and he saw the vibration I was talking about and informed me that these trucks have so many front end issues, that he is not surprised right off the lot that it was showing problems. When I brought this to the service manager, he back tracked his story of "no issues" and suddenly told me that there was indeed some 'minor' issues with this generation. They did a force balance and sent me on my way. When I later called and said the issue was still there, the service guy did tell me after he looked more into it, they have a faulty part in the front end and that is my issue. They can order the part, however it is on a 2 month backorder... Fast forward 2 months, I have to call them to find out if my part is in and when it finally is in, I go to get it replaced. When I get there, the service guy (who clearly forgets what he has told me in the past) tells me that they have seen so many of these trucks come in with this faulty part and every time they replace them, it fixes there issue. I can tell by this, that he is trying to assure me my issue will be fixed, without actually knowing if it will or not. Well, needless to say, it did not fix my issue. At this point, I had given up on them. Clearly they can't figure out what is happening and the 45 minute drive each way is getting annoying to not fix the issue. To top it all off, when I got home, I realized that the tech must have gotten into the truck with a wrench in his hand, because he put a 8" scratch right by the door handle. I called the dealer back in fury and I was 'again' reassured someone from management would call me back to address my issues. To this date (nearly 2 weeks later) I have gotten no such phone call. Clearly the team at Murphy Ford either doesn't care, is incompetent or is incapable of making good on anything with their customers. I can tell from here, since they don't make any further money off me (they already got my money), they don't want to put in the effort. I would not recommend buying a vehicle from Murphy Ford in Chester PA. I recently (oct 2021) purchased a $80,000 Platinum F150. First off they had a $3000 extortion markup on the truck. I bought it anyway. The truck had some body damage that was not disclosed to me I found it the next day. I will say when I went back up they did offer to fix it. After being told all my parts had arrived and to make an appointment, I drop the truck off. Everything was fixed except a keyless entry keypad that was allegedly on backorder. For the next 3 months I have gotten nothing but the run around from the sales manager about my parts. I stopped by every month to ask about the part for him to send me to someone else. The last time I stopped by instead of checking himself he called the salesman I worked with over the intercom. Well guess what the salesman was sitting with a potential sale and had to leave his customer to walk back to parts with me for about 15 minutes to get nowhere. This was on a Friday afternoon. We walk back out to see Keith and he tells me someone will call Monday. Monday comes I get a call from my salesman who is off but calls to inform me Hes off and will call Tuesday. Monday, I go back to see Keith again he tells me someone will call me tomorrow. Tuesday, I get a call Hey good news your part just came in right now. Yeah, I call bullshit but whatever. I schedule appointment for Friday and drop the truck off. Pick up the truck at the end of the day. The next morning while the sun hits my windows, I see that my window tint is scratched. That will be $150 for me to fix. I have ceramic tint. Then I notice a scratch in the leather on the top of my door panel. I can't believe it. I'm actually sick right now. MURPHY ford is the worst dealer ever. There salesman is great. But their managers and service are the worst. Dropped off my 2016 Ford Edge to see if it needed a new flex plate per a customer service program notice I received. I was told that it did need a new flex plate and they would order the parts. About two months later I was told that the parts arrived. I made an appointment and dropped my car off, they told me the repair would take about a week. I called a week later only to find out they hadn't touched my car but they're looking at it now. I then received a call that my car was done. When I went to pick it up I was told that they scoped my car and it never needed the flex plate. I left the dealership and immediately noticed that my car was loud and had no acceleration. I went back and they said the air cleaner wasn't put back on correctly but it was ok now. Again I left and the noise and acceleration was still terrible. I went back to Murphy and they told me that they thought I had turbocharger and/or transmission problems and that it was just coincidence that it happened while they had my car. They said to make another appointment when their transmission tech was there. I stopped in my local auto mechanic on my way home, in ten minutes he found that they had disconnected the turbocharger air intake and failed to reconnect it, he put it back on and the noise is gone and acceleration is back. I hope this was just an example of laziness, stupidity or incompetence and not dishonesty. There should be a zero star for this place. read more

I went to have an oil change and alignment right before new year's 2023. I went and told the service manager that we can skip the alignment because it's still good from the last time I was here and I went on to give praises of how their alignment was so good that I was going to bring my foreign car in to get it done. Fast forward- they did the oil change and they said they did an alignment and brought me a after paperwork showing the green highlights- but no before and I have to say it was f'd up and wish they never touched it! I took it back and they made it worst and said that if it's still wrong we'll have to do diagnostic's- now they mentioned at the first one that I have nothing wrong with any frontal parts - so why would it matter? They messed it up and now I'm on a hunt to get it fixed as it was - but one thing certain I won't go back there - they don't listen to the customer! Over the past 40 years, I have bought countless autos from Murphy Ford, but will NEVER do so again! In Nov 2019, I purchased a 2019 Escape for which Murphy's Title Department submitted the wrong VIN to PA. It took me two months - and a complaint to the PA Attorney General's office - to receive the corrected Title and registration. If left to the indifference demonstrated by Murphy Ford, I would probably still be waiting for my paperwork. Then, when I finally received the Title and registration, the documents were thrown into an overnight envelope. No letter of apology for the inconvenience ... not even a small post-it! This dealership may be in a new facility, but its front office needs lessons in courtesy!! read more

Went to Murphy Ford Parts Dept. and had them order a part for my truck. When the part came in I picked it up and tried to install it. I realized it was the wrong part and had to reassemble my truck with the old part. I returned the part and they charged me 20% restocking fee for a part they verified and ordered. They could not find the proper part so I could not exchange. So I got punished for their screw up. My wife drives a Ford and I have a flleet of Fords that will never see Murphy Ford again. read more

UPDATE: When my sister went to pick up the car it wasn't ready for her. There was some kind of hold-up because Murphy hadn't been able to speak directly with her insurance provider, even though they had faxed over proof of insurance. They told her she couldn't take the car and made her come back several days later to pick it up. When she FINALLY got the car, it was given to her with no floor mats, no gas, no temporary registration and no license plate!! She had to go back in and find someone to put her tags on. She left without the registration because she didn't know she needed it. When she asked why there was no gas in it the guy told her "well i put twenty bucks in." this is far from the customer service I would expect when spending $17,000 on something. Horrible. No one should be treated that way. I wouldn't recommend Murphy to my worst enemy. read more

Hello. I bought new 2017 Ford Transit 250 vin 1FTYR1CM4HKA29546 from Murphy Ford in Chester, Pennsylva. Last year, my Transit stalled on the road. I took my truck to Murphy Ford service. It took them four day to take a look at my truck. Four days wait time is not acceptable, my business lost money because truck was out of commission. Right now my truck has 22000 miles and needs rear brake job. I took my truck to my mechanic for faster service. Last Friday, my mechanic told me that rear caliper dampers are missing on the rear calipers. This morning, I spoke with Murphy Ford service advisor Brian Hulsey for installing missing rear caliper dampers. He accused me, my mechanic in taking off dampers. Im hard working, honest person, I don't make things up for $25 part. Nobody worked on my rear brakes since factory. Rear brakes are still original on my truck. I'm loosing my trust in the Ford company. read more

Bought an Certified F150 a few months back. Recognized a few safety issues right away and brought it in from South Jersey to get it looked at. I was told it was the parking break and that they adjusted it and it would be fine. I also brought up the condition of the tires and they shrugged it off and said "they pass inspection". 1 week later I had to get the parking break completely changed out in South Jersey and was told that the truck more than likely was used in water and I should bring it back to the dealer. Just left there and they made me feel like safety is not their concern and offered me 2 tires and $400 for 2 more because they were falling apart. Also having break and audio issues, and nothing was done because I was upset and the used car manager (who is new since I bought the truck 4 months ago) and the service manager stormed out. On at least three occasions they saved me money by fixing my car by using good old fashion mechanics. I was leasing my 2017 Ford Escape and kept getting bombarded with mail flyers and messages from my previous dealership to get me into a new vehicle. My lease was coming to an end soon so I needed to start looking around at different vehicles. I was just getting confused with what to do. I then realized that Costco has an auto program (and I have a membership!). I talked to several personnel at my local Costco about their program. They all said it made the entire process of buying/leasing a vehicle very easy and pleasant. So I decided to try it. I was not disappointed! I was matched up with Murphy Ford in Chester which was literally right down the street from me. I never thought about looking there before. My salesman was Teddy Brown. After a sit down with him, he showed me a few different models. He could tell I wasn't living any of them. Then he told me about an SUV that would eventually be mine. I test drove it and after contemplating my decision, I told Teddy I would take it! I met with the finance manager and ended up leaving very satisfied with my new Escape. The entire process from my call to the Costco Auto Program to my signing all the paperwork was about 8hrs! I would have given 5 stars for this review but I had to wait several hours to finalize everything. Apparently there was only one finance worker on that day (Black Friday) and their computer system went down for awhile. She was working as fast as she could but there could have been someone else working to make things go quicker for all their customers. I bought a F-150 truck last Saturday afternoon and was very happy to find the truck I was looking for. I told the salesperson at 4:45pm that I wanted the truck at the price we agreed on. After sitting in their backroom waiting on paperwork, I was brought back to the sales floor to sign everything and talk to the insurance co. I finished all this around 6:30pm and when I went to get the truck, I was told that because the dealership closed at 6pm the salesperson didn't have my owner's manual or spare key. The salesperson and everyone else there was obviously in a hurry to get home so I let it go and he told me to come back on Labor Day (Monday) at 10am. I thought that was a little bit of a hassle, and poor planning on the sales guys part, but figured I would get over it. I was wondering why the salesperson hadn't thought ahead a little bit and had the manual and keys ready to go. If the paperwork had fallen through, he just wouldn't have given them to me, right? Not that difficult..... As I was getting ready to drive the 40 minutes to Chester and pick everything up, I thought I better give them a call just to make sure everything was OK. I didn't get a sense that these guys had their act together when I was there, so better call first. When I called, the salesperson told me although the dealership was open Labor Day, the people who had my manuals and key weren't there and he didn't have them. Glad I called.....I told him I was out of town the next couple days, let him know I should have had everything if he had planned a little better, and I wasn't pleased. OK, he said he would overnight them to me so I would have them on Wednesday morning. Wednesday morning came and went, no package. I called him back and he apologized....said one of the ladies must have messed up sending them out. I would definitely get them Thursday morning. Thursday came and went. No package. At this point, I wasn't real pleased. I had purchased a brand new truck with lots of cool gadgets on it, and had no idea how to use them because I didn't get a walk through of all the capabilities of the truck, was not given any warranty information, and now had been waiting days for the manuals and key he told me I would have day after day. On Friday, I called the General Manager of the entire dealership. No call back. My stuff showed up in the mail Friday, thank goodness. No call from the dealership checking to make sure I got everything. No call from the manager of the place.....unbelievable. Very poor customer service and no follow through. I honestly feel like they didn't care about me at all once I signed the papers. I understand making the mistake, but how you handle it is key and tells you something about a place. This was not good. Took my 2016 Tarus back to the Service area for problems with 2 tires that had slow leaks. Made an appointment and waited for the car to be checked. The service area was crowded and I still managed to be finished in two hours and had two new tires installed for a great price !!!! update: after many calls to ford corporate and murphy ford, i went to the store and signed a hand-written one-sentence statement written byt the salesman, stating that i wished to cancel the extended warranty. that seemed kind of strange to me, that there ws no official form or anything. i signed it, and called the ford warranty division who assured me this was common. after a few weeks i called back and they had indeed received and processed the cancellation. i then called the for finance division and they told me they had processed the refund. overall, it bothers me that the dealer slipped this in under my nose. i hate to feel like i have to examine every line of every page of ten or so documents. never had to do tht at the other three ford dealers (2 in richmond, one in PHL) where we bought our previous three new fords ('92, '99 and 2010) read more
