Called Murphy's at 4 pm Tuesday because my cable snapped on my garage door. Needed a new opener too. They were able to come the next day and fix everything Bob came and did an excellent job!! He was so nice and made sure I understood how to use my opener and how to get the ap. He programmed my new keypad for me as well as the 2 opener buttons. Left me a brochure of garage doors, which I desperately need!! That's for next year But I was so pleased with Bob and his friendly personality. This company was great. My garage door was broken. It seemed like a simple enough repair, but I'm not handy at all. And that's an understatement. So I thought I'd get a handyman to come by and do the repair. He came and looked it over, said he could do it, and then another job ran long. Now I was getting impatient, so I decide to bite the bullet and call in a garage door professional. I was a bit apprehensive about taking a shot in the dark on a company I knew nothing about. But this company was great. I called in the morning. They said they could have someone over between noon and 4pm. A repairman came over around 2:30. He was very nice and didn't mind that young master Daniel B. wanted to watch him use tools. Not only did he fix what was broken, but he identified a problem that was hidden to me, which was the cause of the problem in the first place. The bill has yet to come, and we'll see how the repair holds up. But I trust everything will be as expected. I think he said the bill should be in the ballpark of $125. In the grand scheme of home repair, I feel like I got off easy. Whew. read more

We have used this company over the years for various garage door repairs and the service has always been great! The technicians are professional and have always fixed the problem. Lately, however, we've been getting terrible customer service on the front end - the office staff is too busy to take our phone calls and rude when we try to find out why it's taking so long for a part to come in. The person who answers the phone needs some serious customer service training! The actual service part where the guy comes out to fix the broken door is awesome, but it's tough getting past the poor attitude and unhelpful behavior of the person on the phone at the other end when I call. Sadly, we will be taking our business elsewhere from now on, since multiple complaints have failed to resolve this issue. read more

Our garage door had malfunctioned and not risen all the way. That meant the top of our vehicle hit the door while backing out. Don't know if the little wheel on the door that was now out of its track was the result of the impact, or what had caused the door to malfunction in the first place. I was able to remount the wheel back in its track after disassembling a part and reassembling that unit. But the door was now not closing properly or quietly. I called Murphy Overhead Doors the next morning, explained the problem, and the receptionist said they could have someone come to the house possibly that day between noon and 4, but definitely the next day between noon and 4. With that I assumed, if I was lucky, I'd hear from them much later that afternoon or more likely the next day. At about 12:15 on the day of my call they called me to let me know they would be able to have someone at the house today. Five minutes later their truck pulled into my driveway. The technician assessed the damage and looked for a date of manufacture on the door. Upon seeing that the door was about 12 years old he advised me that I would not want to replace the lower panel which he showed me had split on the edge from the impact. He said "IF" I could still purchase a replacement from the manufacturer, it would likely cost me half as much as replacing the entire garage door. With that, he came up with a plan to put a bolt through where the door had split, and tighten the section back together. He then lubricated all the tracks, wheels, and section edges. The door now operates normally again and the bolt is hidden from view. Excellent job! I received a bill in the mail the next day for $95 plus tax. I think this was a very reasonable price to pay for fast, friendly service, good workmanship, and useful advice. I highly recommend them for these reasons. read more

The spring on our garage door broke over the weekend, and we were planning to replace the garage door and opener anyway so we called Murphy's. I called on Monday around 11am, by 1pm we had a tech at our house who was very knowledgeable and we picked out a replacement door and opener. We scheduled the install for the following Monday but then received a call that they could install on Thursday. Within 4 days we had a new garage door and opener. There was a slight mis-communication on the window inserts we choose and when the installer was here he contacted the office and they had the right inserts brought over and installed. After browsing Murphy's overhead door website I decided to stop in early in the morning to take a look at the products they offer. Cindy took us to their product display and went over the door opener product line and features. She was very knowledgeable, completely answering my questions, with no pressure to buy. The price she quoted including installation and taxes was lower than I had anticipated. The unit had all the features I was looking for and surprisingly included wifi with app door controls! I was scheduled for the next afternoon. Bob called early in the scheduled time frame to let me know we would be arriving in about a half hour. Bob was been absolutely wonderful. He was extremely skilled, professional, knowledgeable and the work was done to perfection. The unit came with two remotes, a keyless entry pad, and one wired button. We had two wired buttons on our existing setup. Bob added the extra wired button with no extra cost! Bob was immaculate in keeping the work area clean, going so far as to putting paper towels under the end rails to prevent any lubricant from seeping to floor! The process was completely stress free. I found Murphy's on Google and called at 245 on a Friday and they were so kind and helpful - even when I was quite flustered with our situation. I was having problems with my keypad placed outside the garage. It would not save my code and open the garage door when needed. I tried re-setting the code and changing the battery but nothing worked. I stopped in their shop and they replaced the keypad under warranty. All is working well now. I broke my garage door (busted POS anyway) on the Friday we were leaving for vacation. I called Monday morning when we got back and they had the tech out same day! He was very personable and explained that my door was not worth repairing (which I knew) and went over all the options for me. My old door never had an auto opener so I was determined to get one this time and hoping not to pay a fortune for it. The tech was able to find the door I wanted AND the opener for under $1400!! (I have a small garage). AND to top it off he had me scheduled for the next day! The installer was equally nice and explained everything to me along the way. I know other reviews have said the phone staff was rude but I did not find that to be the case... I talked to a female a few times as the installer had to come back to put in a part to make my uneven garage work better w/ the door and each time she was very nice. This company has a very un-professional receptionist (the first one sits on the right side as you walk in the front door) worked from them. I definitely would not recommend anyone to get parts there. I ordered a pair of torsion springs with a specific specification. They agreed to customize ones for me. When I came to pick up my order, they gave me an off the shelve pair that was 2.5 inches shorter than the length I specified. I complainted and she tried to pull a fast track explaination. When I didn't buy into her reasoning, she turned nasty. Anyway, I returned the order and got my money back. Would never dare to come back there again. read more

My garage door wasn't working right so I called this company and was told someone would make the repair the next day. When I came home, the door still wasn't working right, there was no bill but there was a phone message from the company that wasn't clear. I returned the call and was told the opener needed to be replaced. I was given some prices and told nothing more. I called a few other places and found out that the prices were high. A week passed-no bill. I had one of the other companies intall a new opener. Several days later Murphy sent a bill for approximately $73.00 (for no repair)-with a statement that it could be applied to a new opener-much too late for that. I called and was told that even though the person who told me that the opener needed to be replaced never told me what I would be charged if I didn't purchase the opener from them and even though a bill was not provided to me either the day the opener was checked or for almost an additional two weeks, they wouldn't bend; and they didn't. I told them they not only lost my business for that opener and in the future, I would also warn others about the way they operate. read more

I would not recommend this company at all. First they charge a ransom for their work. My bill was $600 just for the labor portion for 1.5 hrs or work. Second when I wanted them to come back and check a portion of the work they did where I had a concern they refused without charging me again. Needless to say I did not have them come back. Customer service was horrible. I had my garage door opener installed and 3 hours later it stopped working. I called and no one calls back. It has been a week and still not working properly. The office staff are rude and say they are too busy. I was told they wouldn't fix my unit until they were out in my area and they wouldn't let me know when that was going to be. The service man was terrific but the ladies who answer the phone are the ones you deal with and they are in need of customer service training. This is really a shame since Murphy's has been around a long time but I cannot recommend them or use them. I am in the process of disputing my payment with the credit card company. read more
