I can no longer trust a vet office with no emergency backup procedure to take care of my animal. Of course things happen beyond our control, but that is the whole point of an EMERGENCY backup plan. For an animal "hospital" (or any place of business) to not have one in place is irresponsible. We almost missed our trip that day as we were dropping off our dog for boarding. With ZERO notice and no way to contact them, we were limited in options. When I called a few days later to talk to someone about my upcoming boarding reservations, this lady gave me no indication that they learned anything from this exercise. She wasn't overly apologetic about the circumstances we were put in, either. Instead she told me they sent a message in facebook (which I don't have) and an email to everyone the day before (which I didn't receive - of course I checked my JUNK folder when I finally reached the airport because I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt before I berated them for being so unprofessional). Then I asked her what happened to the currently boarded animals, and she confidently told me they were well taken care of, which I can only assume they were running either fans or coolers on generators. I am confused here because if this was true, then no one thought to plug in one of the computers to get the schedule for the day? Either way, I'm abhorred by all her answers (made up or not) and how they mishandled this situation overall. If they couldn't log in, fine; but there was no one at the office to greet their appointments for the day to offer alternative care - mine was only a monetarily devastating situation but what if my sick baby was scheduled that day? If the boarded animals were truly taken care of (temperature-wise), then surely a human could stand to be in the same conditions. While none of this adds up, my main concern was really to understand how we move on from here and to get a good feeling on future situations. She failed in all aspects, but at least I found out now and can go to another vet. read more

I feel like the teeth cleaning they sell is a bit of a scam, not necessarily the need for it, but the pricing. We were quoted $550 + an amount if they had to do some extractions. When we went to pick up our dog, the price had jumped to over $1300. The itemized receipt showed that they charged $70 per extraction on top of the $550 that they had quoted. So they extracted 8 teeth. We recently moved back to North Texas from Colorado and we had teeth cleanings done every year in CO, which ran about $300-$500 including any extractions. So, I feel $1300 was above and beyond what we could have expected. And, I feel that the pricing model of paying additional per extraction encourages the vet to be liberal with their judgment on extractions vs. just quoting a lump sum price. And, even if conservatively each extraction took an additional 15 minutes, at $70 a pop that would be an hourly rate of $280/hour. Seems a bit high to me. Ultimately they did come down to a negotiated price of around $1100, but the process could have been much smoother with a LS price. Also, this will discourage us from getting this done annually which would actually provide the vet more income over the long run vs us now being hesitant and think we are getting scammed a little. read more

We took in our 1 year Cavapoo puppy today for shots and an exam. This was our first time at Murphy Road since moving to the area, and decided to try it because we knew one of their vet technicians from our church. The experience was pleasant and it made me wish I had brought a couple of our younger kids because they would have really enjoyed it. The facility looked well-kept and Dr. Mathes, who simply introduced herself as "Kit", was friendly and seemed very experienced. I felt immediatety at ease. She offered several ideas on dealing with our dogs's separation anxiety after doing the physical exam, gave our puppy her vaccines, and wrote us a prescription to fill at Costco. We were in and out in about 30 minutes and felt like our dog got expert care. read more

Thorough, but very expensive. I took two of my dogs in for their rabies shot, and the bill was $245. I was charged $66 per dog for an "annual exam" that took less than 30 seconds and consisted of the doctor listening to their hearts, and shining a light in their eyes. At my old vet, I have never been charged for an exam when we came in for just shots. They also tried to upsell several other things. I am sure they provide excellent care, but since we have multiple dogs, just cannot afford to go back here. We will just continue to drive them to Allen from now on. read more

I took my most loved dog to the vet today as he hasn't been eating his food and has been throwing up just small amounts of clear stuff for the last two days. I can tell he doesn't feel good. So...the vet said after smashing on his stomach and he yelps in pain that he either has a blockage or pancreatitis. After doing an X-ray and lab work,turns out that he has neither. He is just dehydrated. She ends up putting some fluids under his skin and gives him a shot for nausea. $558 later, we are walking out the door. They are pretty expensive. The lady at the front desk was very rude. I've been going there for several years now, but I think I need to change. read more

Dr. Mobius is an amazing vet. It's really hard to find a vet that cares and doesn't just want to take your money. I tried 2 other vets in the area and was very disappointed so I kept driving 45 min to my old vet. I have 4 animals and I started with 1 at a time. I just recently had to put my dog down (one that he has never seen) and I was so impressed with how genuine and gentle he was. As hard as it was, dr mobius made the situation way better if that's possible. I then received a beautiful card in the mail from the staff. Wow. Thank you. Most of the staff is very sweet and makes us feel like family. There are a few of the girls that make u feel like you are a burden but I have overlooked that because the vet is great and so are the techs that help out. Thank you for all that you do. read more

One star for the front staff - don't go to Dr. Moebius! He has caused slow painful deaths of two (2) of my pets! The latest was 5-6-23 when I took my dog to him for refill of meds provided by previous doctor for her leg. The ONLY reason I made the appt with him was because THE PROTOCOL FOR TREATMENT WAS ALREADY IN HER FILE! What did he do? NOTHING! Instead he said she was diabetic and did a urinalysis and that was ok, BUT - he insisted on doing a full blood panel which I told him no because I did not have the funds so he wanted me to use Care Credit. I told him I don't live above my means and the blood testing could wait until next month! He did it anyway and charged me $505.90 which completely used up my credit card and $405 of it went out of my checking account which left me with nothing FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH! The point is that the $191.00 for the blood test WAS NOT NECESSARY AND COULD HAVE WAITED UNTIL NEXT MONTH! And guess what? The test showed she was hypothyroid which is what I originally took her for when I first started going to him and instead of doing the normal testing HE DID X-RAYS!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! read more

Pharmacy prices are astronomical. I asked for a written prescription so I could shop around. When the online pharmacy called to verify the prescription the Vet refused to validate it stating they were not familiar with the pharmacy. I appreciate that the staff and doctors care for my pets, however, they do not get to choose who I spend my money with. MY doctor cannot tell me where to shop for my meds but apparently this veterinarian practice feels they have that right. I will spend my hard earned money anywhere but here. read more

I'm not going into the details of my dogs death but after a post death examination I requested a private cremation. I went to pick up my little guy's ashes and they were in the cedar box however, the cedar box was inside a doggie paw print gift bag with tissue stuffed in the top. Very sad to say because of them my cat had to be put down. Be careful using them. My cat had gotten fungal pneumonia. Once we got him over that the veterinarian NEVER told us that he would have to be on fungal medicine for the rest of his life. Took him in several times and not at an any time did they ever read is chart. None of the staff ever said anything. Once he started getting sick and not eating we took him in several times to see what was wrong. Not until they took x-rays and showed them to me.....I AM THE ONE THAT SAID could it have anything to do with the fungal pneumonia he had. At that point they said yes, it all makes since now. Just before we had to put him down, I called and spoke with the vet one more time. At that point she said that she currently has a cat with fungal pneumonia and that cat will be on medicine the rest of her life. At that time it did not click with me until some time after he was gone. THEY ARE THE MAIN REASON HE IS GONE. You are his doctor. You should have looked at his chart every time that I brought him in. I would have had him on medication had a known. Because he was not on medication, the fungus spread through his body causing all kinds of other issues. I have just recently gotten my daughter a new kitten. We are currently looking for a good vet. I do believe I am going to be very paranode when I do see another vet.
