The dog bit deeply into his face, causing severe injuries. We initially took him to an urgent care veterinarian, where his wounds were stitched, but infection quickly set in. From there, we were referred to a specialist emergency hospital in Prosper, where Kozzy stayed for several nights. He stopped eating, became increasingly miserable, and underwent multiple procedures to remove dead and infected tissue. Around June 1, after four or five days of treatment, we received devastating news. We were told that Kozzy's prognosis was poor, that skin grafts would likely be necessary, and that there was no guarantee they would succeed. By that point, he even had a feeding tube. We were heartbroken and had already spent more than $10,000 trying to save him. That evening, in a state of desperation, I searched online for soft tissue surgeons for dogs and found Humane Animal Medical & Surgical Hospital. Although it was already 7:30 PM, I called expecting to leave a voicemail. To my surprise, Kim answered. She was compassionate, caring, and genuinely concerned. She encouraged me to bring Kozzy in the very next day and told me, "Dr. Carver is amazing. If anyone can help your dog, it's him." The next morning, my husband and I picked up Kozzy and brought him to see Dr. Carver. Before even examining him, Dr. Carver sat down with Kozzy, offered him wet dog food and even part of his own hamburger patty, and simply spent time talking to him. Kozzy is usually fearful and timid around people, but he immediately responded to Dr. Carver. Watching that instant connection brought us tremendous comfort. Throughout his stay, Kozzy was kept in a full patient room, not a kennel. Kim made sure staff members checked on him multiple times each day, and we were welcomed to visit him daily. We brought homemade food and his favorite bed to keep him comfortable, and the entire staff treated him with genuine love and care. Dr. Carver then performed a complex surgery to repair Kozzy's wounds. It was a lengthy procedure that took several hours, but he successfully reconstructed the damaged areas. Afterward, I was able to spend time with Kozzy, comforting him as he recovered. Dr. Carver also placed him in an oxygen enclosure overnight to help support the healing process. Kozzy remained at the hospital for seven days. Today, he has a few scars and a slightly crooked smile, but he is alive, healing, and happy--and for that, we are beyond grateful. The difference between this clinic and our previous experience was extraordinary. Dr. Carver, Kim, and the entire staff demonstrated not only exceptional medical expertise but also genuine compassion, warmth, and constant communication. They gave Kozzy a second chance when we feared all hope was lost. I only wish we had found them from the very beginning. By the time I got him there he was having a 2nd seizure. The entire staff dropped EVERYTHING and triaged him on a table. He was stabilized, given anti seizure IV medication and was 90% back to normal in under 15 minutes. The staff went over and above to care for him and they thoroughly explained two different treatment plans including the costs. We chose a plan and even knocked off a very big ticket item because he responded so well to the meds. They were so professional and caring he fell in love with the entire staff during his visit. He even made the rounds to give all of them thank you kisses. While I hope we never have to visit again, if we do it's such a comfort to find an ER vet that doesn't take advantage and price gouge you in your most vulnerable moments...unlike others I've had the displeasure of visiting in the past.

Was there for 6+ hours to have everything blamed on how long the radiologist was taking. Personal conversations complaining about clients, vet techs using their phones while patients needed attending to, eating their food next to the triage table! At the end of my 1,500 visit I had more concerns for my kitty than I did before I even walked in the door. When it was come time to be discharged the tech that was assisting us left without letting anyone know what was going on and they just looked really dysfunctional. The doctor didn't even acknowledge us as we walk out. Not even a you're welcome to our thank you! Unprofessional, unorganized, no compassion or care about the clients or patients. I would never recommend this hospital even if it was the last place on earth! Update: Two days later. Called and spoke to Cheyenne about our experience. Felt heard, felt compassion and felt true concern about myself and my kitty. She advised she would call me back. Instead Dr. Hoge called me back and was very apologetic and showed a great deal of concern for our experience. I believe that the team we had this horrific encounter with creates a bad name for this ER and for the veterinary field as a whole. I appreciate the sincere apology I received by management and wanted to add that to my review. They both showed care and compassion and that is what it's all about. If I had walked in the door when they were there I would have had a totally different visit and my kitty would have been taken care of! They are what makes veterinary practice great!

On this particular day, my little dog woke up with a limp so I called City Vet Murphy and asked to come see my regular vet, which is Dr. Burgin ( the wife) and they said that she was not working that day, but her husband was and he would be happy to see me. I was so happy because I was so worried about my little dog, so I jumped in the car and took him out to see Dr. Burgin ( the husband). He was just as fabulous as his wife. Both vets are so kind and caring and knowledgeable and patient they make you and your pet feel extremely comfortable. In this case, their staff was also wonderful... and that makes a huge difference since they are the first people you encounter. Everybody that works here is so warm and welcoming. they helped us immediately, and the doctor came in quickly to assess what was going on with my little dog. After I left, they sent me a quick text just to let me know that I can reach out to them anytime if I had any questions or concerns. They also followed up the next day just to check on Bobo! She was 14 and we have always taken great care of our dogs but I guess sometimes it's just their time to go. The staff was very supportive even having never met my family or Ava before.
