Dr. Pilkey operated on my Westie last week because of rectal bleeding. My dog does not have cancer, he told me. I am so happy.

Worst possible business ever. Vets are slow and always run late. The office staff is just plain mean to the animals as well as the owners

I can no longer trust a vet office with no emergency backup procedure to take care of my animal. Of…read morecourse things happen beyond our control, but that is the whole point of an EMERGENCY backup plan. For an animal "hospital" (or any place of business) to not have one in place is irresponsible. We almost missed our trip that day as we were dropping off our dog for boarding. With ZERO notice and no way to contact them, we were limited in options. When I called a few days later to talk to someone about my upcoming boarding reservations, this lady gave me no indication that they learned anything from this exercise. She wasn't overly apologetic about the circumstances we were put in, either. Instead she told me they sent a message in facebook (which I don't have) and an email to everyone the day before (which I didn't receive - of course I checked my JUNK folder when I finally reached the airport because I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt before I berated them for being so unprofessional). Then I asked her what happened to the currently boarded animals, and she confidently told me they were well taken care of, which I can only assume they were running either fans or coolers on generators. I am confused here because if this was true, then no one thought to plug in one of the computers to get the schedule for the day? Either way, I'm abhorred by all her answers (made up or not) and how they mishandled this situation overall. If they couldn't log in, fine; but there was no one at the office to greet their appointments for the day to offer alternative care - mine was only a monetarily devastating situation but what if my sick baby was scheduled that day? If the boarded animals were truly taken care of (temperature-wise), then surely a human could stand to be in the same conditions. While none of this adds up, my main concern was really to understand how we move on from here and to get a good feeling on future situations. She failed in all aspects, but at least I found out now and can go to another vet.

I stand by my belief that Liberty Grove Animal hospital is the best vet in the area…read more Unfortunately, our dog did have cancer. We removed the first tumor, but after three years it came back. We again made the unfortunate decision to let our sweet girl go. Dr. Hoag was honest and sincere in letting us know our options, answering call after call from me with new questions in the days leading up to her appointment. Yesterday, we found our lab not wagging her tail, which is highly unusual for a dog diagnosed with happy tail. Dr. Hoag's office got us seen in a moments notice. Even when our lab started becoming aggressive due to the pain, Dr. Hoag kept her composure, ensuring our lab felt safe. While the X-ray found nothing, Dr. Hoag took her time to explain what could be the issue, our treatment plan, and next steps if we don't see improvements in the next week. My best friend is out of town and we are dog sitting. Before she left, she told me that if anything happened to her older dog, to please take him to Liberty Grove, as she knew from our experiences that Dr. Hoag and the vets at Liberty Grove , that we would be given the best treatment and information to help them make an informed decision. The compassion at Liberty Grove is unmatched.

Called to see if I could walk in with 5 kittens who needed subcutaneous fluids after recent neuter…read more(kittens not eating much or drinking) and was told they did not do that but would charge $140 litter fee plus app $325.00 (for the fluids)... so I tried calling other places then called their sister company Rowlett Veterinary Clinic who also checked and stated they could do the $140 litter fee. I ended up making appointment at Liberty Grove but noticed that they charged me a consultation fee of $77.85 for each kitten which totaled way more than the $140 so I called a total of three times and was finally told that if I was keeping all kittens I had to pay higher fee... and then after was also told that they charged more since they were sick (although the dr said they were all fine but I wanted fluids just to be safe and also paid to have three injected with anti nausea meds).... Even though my initial phone call had all the details and was given the quote of $140.00. I am upset that I was lied to. Update: The practice manager, Cody Boyd, reached out to me this morning after my review. He apologized for the miscommunication and issued a refund of $233.55. I appreciate that he took the time to look into the situation and make things right. My concerns about the original quote versus the charges still stand, but I do want to acknowledge that they followed up and corrected part of the bill.

***PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT GOOD CARE WITH A FRIENDLY BUDGET***…read moreAfter our appointment today we will not be going back. We have been clients for a few years now and I have been on the fence about continuing care at this location, and today sealed the deal. Two weeks ago we had an appointment for an ear infection for our dog. We were told to come back within two weeks for a free check up- which we clarified with the Vet tech and the Vet herself that this would be completely free for the visit and the swab. Today my husband was told it was be a fee of $27. When he addressed that we were told by 2 employees and checked at the front before we left the original appointment that the follow up would be free he was told that within the 2 weeks they had "changed their policy" but would waive the fee for us this time.....they explained that only coming in to the office was free......respectfully....no shit walking into the office is free. I understand $27 isnt a lot of money, but it truly rubs me the wrong way when you can't communicate to your clients properly. So if you're planning on coming into Breckinridge Park Animal Hospital...do yourself a favor and get itemized receipts, written expectations and fees for follow-ups and record conversations since their policy changes happen so frequently that they can not make their clients aware. After reading other reviews it seems like they have transparency issues and are after any dollar amount they can get. All of their responses to these negative have been "we're sorry for your experience and we want to be transparent with all clients"......Interesting there's no follow ups about these issues being resolved.

Ok I can't say enough about my first experience with this vet office. I noticed my cat was bleeding…read moreand had a wound under her neck. I was so worried and didn't know what to do. I called a vets office. They were really nice. I show up in the place was no longer there so I called again hey let me know that that office had closed down and that they were another 25 minutes away from me and couldn't get me in soon. So I just did another Google search and found another vet office right off of 75 and 15th St. this place was dark and dingy. It smelled bad. I went ahead and stayed because my cat was in distress. The lady comes in doesn't introduce herself. I thought she was a doctor come to find out she was a nurse and during our conversation asked me to fill out a drop off form. It freaked me out. I haven't even met the doctor yet. There's been no treatment plan and they're already talking about wanting to keep my cat overnight. I did another Google search I found Breckenridge park Hospital and called them from the other doctors office. The lady was so nice professional. She even asked for my pets records from her vet, which I had faxed over to her immediately they were able to get me in an hour from the time that I called I grabbed my cat and got out of that office. When I got to the Breckenridge pet hospital, it was nice and clean and airy and people were nice but professional. I was able to go to the back after only five minutes of waiting. They asked lots of questions which is great!!! I waited maybe 10 minutes before the doctor got back there, which is nothing, especially in a walk-in visit like that the doctor Elias was fantastic. She was knowledgeable and i could tell if she cared. They cleaned the wound and bandaged and educated me on how to take care of her and when I get the bill, it was reasonably priced and I believe I paid exactly what I should have been charged. I can tell just by one visit that this place is loving and kind professional, and gives quality care to pets. I'm bringing her back in this morning for a check up, but I may be changing her veterinarian office. They've made such a good impression on me. I definitely recommend you taking your pet here.
