The school's front lawn, planters and school garden are nicely manicured. It's a good inviting place for students and their family. My daughter was in TK (transitional kindergarten) with Mrs. Foley and TA Mrs. Kaelin. These wonderful women have gotten my daughter off to the right start. The TK class is gated off since it's the first building closest to the office and is split with a kinder class. It's near the school garden and front entrance and it's really convenient, trust me. The curriculum is awesome too! They learn lots with choice time, fundamentals, numbers/letters and cooking Friday just to name a few. The school community is inviting and welcoming. What better thing to have than moms and dads working together for their family's education. My daughter will be starting kindergarten soon and I'm confident and secure that Lydiksen Elementary has prepared her and will continue to help her grow as a student and person. Mr. Berg is the principal and good with the kids. There isn't a day my daughter doesn't say hi to him and he always returns the hello with a smile! Just sharing some more information for those looking at my review:…read more1. In terms of race and gender, they are quite diverse. But they are very faith-focused at many points. Please note that on their website they do endorse items like marriage being only between one woman and one man and even their class examining different religions has a Christian bias. That does not mean that non-Christians or people who may go against these values will 100% be treated bad(although I can't speak for any new changes or LGB people), but it is something to note if you are looking at this school. 2. Adding onto the diversity part, I had teachers that were more conservative, others that were a bit more nuanced, some I have no idea about, teachers who care about social justice. But all the teachers I had were very much nice to me in some way, even as a non-Christian. In other words, the teachers very much care about their job and ensuring your child will be well-rounded enough and good at thinking. I found that I was much better at thinking about the world as a whole, though that may be more about me than the school. But just note that there might be a diversity of views, some you might find uncomfortable, but none that I would call concerning or enough to tell you to not enroll. 3. They seem to really be investing more in sports again, and it's clearly working. Can't speak more about that, but if sports is a priority for you, that might be something to look at. 4. Please note that this review speaks about experiences for this school under its original title as Valley Christian. I can't speak for any new changes under Brave Christian, and they may result in a very different experience than my review has given. Personally, I didn't like what I heard about where the school was heading near the end of my experience there, but that is my opinion and I can be a bit pessimistic. Please do your research before making the decision about whether you would like your child to attend this school! In summary: Unless you just really do not like Christianity, it's worth having a look at this school. But be sure to have a deep look at the school before you make your choice.

We are experiencing an education environment we have been hoping to provide to our kid with an asynchronous learning style. At Acton, students learn at their own individual paces, together. Learning at their own paces, most of the time, but not always means accelerated. Sometimes, it takes a squat to leap higher. There are no teachers to lecture students on the same materials at the same time but guides to provide a guardrail to ensure students focusing on their goals each school year and milestones each session. We think Acton as a project-based progressive school. For example, in one session the elementary studio is learning oceanology. Students studied anatomy of gut and cleaned sardine, blew a tank of blue water to observe waves, created dioramas of coral reefs, and made dumbo octopuses by shredded papers. All of these are backed by students' own researches which were presented to their parents at the exhibition by end of the session. This review feels like overdue. We are very grateful to have an opportunity to learn and engage with Acton Academy. Kids need to feel safe, not judged, when they need more time to master a topic or make mistakes. They hold each other accountable to be kind, supportive, and inspiring. They bound with each other through music (taught by a musician), PE, and filed trips in addition to the science and art projects. Teamwork comes naturally because the students host seven exhibitions a year. In such a small community with ages from K to Middle School, everyone has something to contribute. I have to say the transition from a traditional school to Acton's learner-driven education model took our family sometime to embrace the differences. Now looking back, it was totally worth it. Part of me want to keep this micro-school a secret but I think it would be selfish if I do not share knowing other families may benefit from our experience.

For my review, I just want to say that St Michael School has been such a blessing to our family. We just started last year and have been so pleased with the teachers, the students and the administration. Perfect blend of professionalism, warmth and kindness. It feels like a nice family atmosphere and it is clear that both the students and teachers are there because they really love it. Our daughter is learning a lot, both about our faith and academically. There is also such a maturity, confidence, and leadership in the students, which speaks to the excellent teachers and staff. If you are considering this school for your child, you have found a treasure.
