I have been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and drop foot syndrome recently. My New Balance shoes are too gripping and since I live within walking distance of this store, I decided to ask for their recommendations and try on a variety of different shoes. Amy greeted me with a beautiful smile and asked if she could help. She listened and then suggested a few shoes. She patiently helped me try on several pairs. Of course, the pair I found the most comfortable are the most expensive and considering that I am engaged in a physical therapy regimen I decided to ask my therapist for his advice. What an amazing place. My doctor sent me here to get shoes that woujd support my foot after my surgery. I was fortunate enough to be assisted by the owner, Jim. This man is an encyclopedia of information as it pertains to fitting shoes to surgically repaired feet. He knew exactly what I needed and the shoes he fitted me in enable me to walk without a cane or a boot. Incredible. I highly recommend this shoe store if you have special post op footwear needs. Tried to return shoes (Aertrex) that were promised to ease plantar fasciitis. The girl behind the counter told me to buy a different shoe brand insert for $40. I declined and wanted to exchange the shoes (Aertrex) for a pair of vionics that do ease plantar fasciitis pain. The girl got huffy and informed me they do NOT doreturns on shoes that have been worn. I said I am sorry you don't stand behind your products and I would not shop there again. She told me with my ATTITUDE they didn't want me there. There was not another customer in the store. I bought a pair of arch support soles from here, and Jim and Alicia were very helpful and patient, and knowledgeable. Jim fit the soles to fit the shape of my feet, and I have noticed a big difference in my gait and the support in my ankles. In the past I bought OTC heel supports at various retailers, which made only a slight difference. But, coming here with my brother was a blessing, since I discovered I could get good foot support, without needing to go through a lengthy process to get it. Great experience overall! read more

I walked in to look at sandals. When I walked in, the store was busy with customers. I was not acknowledged by a staff member during my half hour visit, though I tried desperately to get someone to answer a question. The other customers in the store were very kind. I realize that I was not there to buy a $300 pair of shoes or a more expensive pair of custom orthotics during this visit- but after my experience, I wouldn't spend a dime there. I would like to talk a little about Murray's Shoes. A pair of shoes I purchased here came apart at one of the seams (maybe a 3" length), and I dealt with Alicia for a painless warranty issue. I traded out for the exact same shoes because they were so comfortable. The experience was so great, I felt compelled to come on here and write them a review. This is an old-fashioned, family-owned shoe store. It has been around since 1875. That alone should tell you how great they are. They measure the width and length of your foot exactly. Nobody here says "he's 10 1/2-ish or-so..." They put the shoes on you, then you stand up. They feel the width and length of your foot, to make sure it's a proper fit. Like shoe stores used to do. Now, shoes here are about three times more expensive then at a department store or at the mall. But there's a catch-in my experience they last three times longer. That makes them the SAME PRICE in the long run. And that isn't all the shoes-there are some very low priced shoes around the shop as well. I am also doing this for selfish reasons, I will admit. I want to spread the word about Murray's Shoes so that the next time I buy shoes-and it will be from them, there is no question-they're still in business. High standards of customer service and personalized fittings. The staff is excellent at shoe fitting and will not promote a product they do not feel is right for the individual. . The store can be busy but keep in mind the attention is so individualized that you will want to plan to wait a little longer than traditional store. As a medical person, the high quality product lines and careful attention to detail was impressive. Strongly recommend for persons with special needs including orthotics. My mom flies in special to purchase shoes from them. Even medical supply stores struggle despite specialized training to accomplish what these folks have mastered. I love Murray's! They have a good selection of comfortable shoes without looking old-ladyish. Their shoes are expensive, but you get what you pay for. One of the last true full service shoe stores around. They take the time to talk with you, understand your needs and what you are looking for. They actually slide the shoes on for you, and check the fit. It's not like Macy's where they throw a box at you and walk away. I'm giving 5 stars because I can't give 6. I've been coming to see Mr Jim for tears now. I have let length issues and when I move back here from Phoenix I could find a person to make a pair if shoes for me and was referred here after a ton if looking. Now I've had others shoes made by other people by I can say I have never been taken care of by anyone other than Jim. I'm sure the guy is there to sell some shoes but Jim has something you don't find elsewhere, he cares. I don't think I've ever been in and out of in under an hour just because of the my level of fit you get. Now yea from time to time I've been known to wait a bit, however I have never walked out feeling anything than time well spent. I live almost an hour away from the store and sure I could order shoes with custom lift in the internet but then that's what is get. From Mr. Jim I feel like I get a whole lot more and if there is ever a problem he's quick to fix it. If you have problems with foot pain or you got custom feet this us the custom show guy! read more

This place is great if you need a really high quality shoes, and are tired of shoes that fall apart after a year. I'm a heath care worker, and I'm on my feet literally all day, sometimes working double shifts. The athletic shoes I bought for many years just weren't cutting it, and I was having a lot of back and foot pain. I finally went to a podiatrist, and he recommended a few brands that are hard to find in a lot of stores. A lot of my colleagues like Danskos, but I prefer Merrell (even if they are a little manly) and Birkenstock (for my days off!). My mom loves the Aetrex sandals I got for her here too. Those Dansko shoes smash my giant toes, but I guess they offer a lot of support if so many other nurses wear them, and you can find them here. Sometimes it's a bit of a wait to get fitted in this store, but I love the selection, and how in depth the fitting is. Last time I visited (I've been there 3 times now, and left with something each time!), Stacy helped my mother find some summer sandals for her gnarly feet. When your feet aren't of the cookie cutter variety, it is so frustrating to pick up a box from the shelf yourself and find a shoe that fits. I really appreciate getting a proper fitting, and recommendations on which brands will work best for me. Once you get used to the prices (about twice what I'm used to paying!), it's pretty darn nice to have a quality shoe that fits properly, and lasts a long time. read more
