The campus tends to seem overcrowded, chaotic, and full of unnecessary drama, which can make an already stressful school day even more tiring. A rather annoying issue is the number of boys who try to look like gangsters by beginning senseless arguments, talking disrespectfully, and treating ordinary school disagreements as if they were serious confrontations. Their over the-top behavior is more embarrassing than dangerous, though it does result in an uncomfortable environment for students who just want to go to class without having to put up with constant noise. Although I have come across a few teachers who are helpful, amusing, and truly interested in their students, the level of support offered is not always reliable. Shivela does still provide a fair education, a number of worthwhile opportunities, and some enjoyable classes, but these good features are often counteracted by immature conduct and a great deal of social drama. Even though the school has helped me to become more independent, a large part of that independence was gained through having to sort out problems on my own. In general, I should award Shivela Middle School three stars out of five since it has a number of positive aspects, but the chaotic atmosphere and the ridiculous attempts at gangster behavior stop it from being an outstanding school. I have continuously reported staff for abuse against my child. The principal Mrs. Walker will not allow me to speak with the staff members who have physically harmed my child as I would definitely cause them harm. New story, my son was assaulted at the school on their last day before winter break, it was reported, and somehow got around to me. I called the school and requested information as I was at work and my husband out of town. I received a call back from the assistant principal, who said that my son and I were lying. When I asked why he had a long scratch on his face, the assistant principal said she had didn't know what I was talking about and asked how I knew this information. I told her my son had a big red cut along the side of his face and was bleeding, which is why he was sent to the nurses office. She said she didn't see anything, then said it could've happened elsewhere. All in all, I got no answers. I will continue to push this forward and hopefully the district finally listens. She is now raising her own kids, and I have the pleasure in assisting her. From the day my first Grandson, was in Transitional Kindergarten, to present, has been a positive experience. He is now 3rd grade. He has had the fortune to have had Mrs. Faye, Mrs. Hansen, Mrs. Rain, (sp) Mrs Esquival, and now Mrs. Skeens. I have only positive things to say about this Murrieta school. Last but not least, I haven't met him in person, but, I have watched this man from the drive up lanes, from the parking lot, walking through the halls, at award ceremonies, flag days, jogathons, picking up and dropping off day to day, and he just stuns the life out of me. The first one was when I was in kindergarten, literally everyone was going behind the building, so I followed as a 5 year old child. The aide at the time yelled at only certain people and told us to put our clips down to red. In kindergarten, this is a big deal. Another incident I can recall was in 3rd grade at the library. I didn't know books at the time had built in bookmarks and I politely asked for the librarian to cut it off because I thought someone placed it there. She says to me rudely, "No!" and gave me a nasty look as she walked away. My brother also got bullied here for a while and they barely did anything. Other than those incidents and some more minor ones, school here was pretty fun and nice. Though, I heard one of the teachers here was a pedophile.
