Disappointed by Office and Billing Practices - Despite an Excellent Doctor I want to start by saying that Dr. Melissa Moore was absolutely fantastic--thorough, kind, and clearly excellent at what she does. I was genuinely planning to bring my whole family here despite the office not accepting our insurance, simply because of how impressed I was with her care. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience has been frustrating and disheartening. I made it very clear from the beginning that I understood my insurance wasn't accepted and asked the front office to just charge me whatever was necessary. Despite this, I was billed incorrectly not once, not twice, but three separate times--and I paid each time in good faith, trusting it was finally resolved. Then, months later, I received yet another bill in the mail for residual charges. At this point, it feels disorganized and frankly a bit exploitative. It's really disappointing to have such a positive clinical experience ruined by administrative mishandling. As much as I appreciated Dr. Moore's care, I won't be returning--and I won't be bringing my family either. This kind of billing confusion and delayed surprise charges is unacceptable. read more

I've been a patient at this eye clinic for several years. The doctor and staff are friendly, but I've had repeated issues with getting prescriptions. The first time, I used their prescription for new glasses, but my eyes felt tired when looking at close objects. I wanted to get another pair using the prescription from my old glasses, which I had worn for five years. Over the phone, they told me I could get the prescription without any additional fees, but when I arrived, they insisted I pay for another exam ($129), even though I didn't need a new one. Frustrated, I eventually gave up and left.... More recently, I wanted contact lenses and asked if I could use the prescription from my eye exam five months ago. They told me it was too old and that I'd need to pay for another exam $129. My insurance doesn't cover exams so frequently, so it was frustrating to be told this after such a short time. Have you ever seen that Friends episode when Rachel visits the optometrist? That was me for about 25 years. I don't know how many times I've been told during an eye exam, "Ma'am, you have to open your eyes." That air puffing machine has seriously led to some major trust issues and anxiety when it comes to eye exams. So when I was referred to Murrieta a few years ago by a good friend, I figured it was worth a shot and I have never looked back. No pun intended. I have now become somewhat of a stellar patient if I do so say myself. Nobody has to tell me to open my eyes, my fists aren't clenched in anticipation, and I don't constantly feel on edge thanks to Dr. Liou and the rest of the staff. Plus, they no longer use that air puffing machine. It's a much less invasive handheld tool that takes a few seconds per eye. Dr. Liou is super helpful and friendly. He goes out of his way to explain to me what is going on and I don't feel intimidated when asking him questions. The wait area is also still COVID conscious which I can appreciate. I can look at glasses without someone breathing over my shoulder since they limit the number of patients inside at once. Overall, this place is great and this is coming from someone who would have previously preferred getting a root canal over going to the optometrist. read more

As someone who previously didn't wear glasses, I typically only go to the optometrist every few years. This time I was noticing that my vision wasn't as great as it had been. I had an appointment with Dr Kamena who was very friendly, and was able to lock down exactly what was going on with my eyes. Visited here for my annual eye exam. Overall was impressed with the process and structure which was put in. Someone from the pre examination team received me and they performed a bunch of exams related to the eye. Asked all relevant questions which provide input to doctor. This took about 10 to 15 mins. Later I met the doctor who asked all relevant questions on my work and reviewed all the pre exam results. Later he gave me 10 different options for my lenses with different lenses power. Clarified all my questions. Very lively to talk to. Was done with the exam in 10 mins. The whole facility was clean. The facility is in the corner of the intersection and very easy to loose if not paying attention. Has limited parking. I didn't choose the frame or glasses because I felt they were a bit expensive. I've been very happy with my experience here for the most part. I always feel like they are trying to sell me new glasses whenever I go even when my eyes were corrected with cataract surgery. The only other "wish" that I had is that there was some means of communicating with the doctor other than making an appointment and going in again.
