I wanted to give an update on Murrieta Optometry now that everything has settled down for me. I absolutely love Murrieta Optometry and recommend everyone to see them. Dr. Kamena was the doctor that helped me and what I like to say, saved my life! Before this appointment, I haven't been to the eye doctor for awhile so for no particular reason, I decided to make an appointment for a regular eye exam. When I was there, Dr. Kamena was extremely nice, funny and made me feel really comfortable. He had me take a couple different test, and by the end of my appointment he found that I had a blind spot and was really concerned that I go see a neurologist to have it further looked at. I being myself was more concerned about losing time from work and wasn't going to do anything about it. I never noticed this blind spot and haven't had any health issues so I was going to continue on like it was nothing. He took a lot of his time to explain to me how important it was for me to have it looked at, gave me a lot of information and told me everything I needed to know. He recommended a neurologist for me and I had an appointment the very next day. Turned out I had a BRAIN TUMOR! I ended up seeing multiple doctors and had surgery at UCSF. I went through all sorts of things and during everything that I went through, Dr. Kamena helped me through it all. Any questions or concerns I had, he helped me. I have never met a doctor who cared so much about their patience. I will forever be going to Murrieta Optometry to see Dr. Kamena, he is the BEST doctor I have ever met who is extremely knowledgeable and genuinely cares about his patients. He takes health serious, he saved my life! Thank you again Dr. Kamena, for everything you have done and continue to do, you truly are amazing! read more

My husband and I go to Dr. Gee and we love him! He takes great care of us, and is very intelligent and personable. We don't have any eye problems (yet) but we go once a year for check-up's, which are fairly quick, I would recommend him and Murrieta Optometry to anyone! read more

Murrieta Optometry is great! They are all about the patient! I contacted them originally when our optometrist group couldn't fit my husband in for two weeks. I got him an appointment very easily and quickly at Murrieta Optometry and he ordered a new pair of computer glasses to replace a broken pair. I contacted them last week because my Monthly Focus soft color contacts got discontinued about six months ago. Since then I tried at least 10 different brands/types of contacts with no success with my previous optometrist. I contacted Murrieta Optometry to see if they carried any contacts in my old size 14.0 diameter and 8.6 curve. I talked to Holly who gave a number of options. I met with Dr. Kamena yesterday and I was super impressed with how attentive he was. He listened to me! I have pingueculas (small bumps on the whites of my eye) that get super swollen and irritated if the contact rubs on them. For the past 6 months all the contacts I tried rubbed and irritated my pingueculas. Felt like I had sand in my eyes! Originally I wanted color contacts as I have worn for 25 years, but if you can't find comfortable contacts the ascetic portion isn't important. Took a few attempts but Dr. Kamena found a multifocal contact that's comfortable in one fitting with him!! He also prescribed drops to help with my irritated eyes! It's nice to be heard! Absolutely loved my first visit with Dr. Moore!! Everyone there was very helpful. They took the time to listen to me and took time to answer my questions. I did not feel rushed like you do in some places. I was able to take my time ask questions and felt I had a very good experience. Can't wait to take my son for his appointment. Confidently recommend. Update I got transition lenses and had problems with them they replaced them and they still didn't seem right but I tried them for a couple weeks and just took them back the other day they are going to replace them again with a new type of lens that is supposed to help with the problem I have been having. All of this was done without complaint and with a genuine desire to get the glasses correct and to my liking. I can't say enough about this office or their staff!!! Bravo! ***UPDATE*** I received my new glasses and the problems I was having were solved however I noticed I was getting flares from lights. I asked about the anti glare coating that was supposed to be on them they said they would look into it. I came back to see my optometrist and again mentioned the coating she said she would check... no one ever got back to me. Fast forward I took my son in for his eye exam and we chose his frames. When they called to tell me they were ready but they forgot the anti glare I again mentioned that my glasses did not have the anti glare she said I should have said something sooner because within 3 months they would fix them but after 6 months they couldn't do anything. I told her I DID say something right away and was told they would look into it she said there was nothing in my file about that. She apologized. I told her she did not need to apologize it was a learning experience I will in the future not leave until I have my answer and will be sure things are noted in my file. I have never been to an optometrist and so was not sure what to expect. (I admit...having anyone look at my eyes kind of freaked me out a bit...But things were beginning to get a bit blurry.) When I received a Groupon, I thought I would give it a shot. And I couldn't be happier! I saw Dr. Kamena, and he immediately caught onto my hesitation. I think we talked about everything but my eyes at first until I felt comfortable. And then we got into the reason why I was there... In a nutshell, I am not freaked out about my degrading vision anymore, and Dr. Kamena has hooked me into being his patient for a long while. I know there is a review on here stating that he is "rude and arrogant," but from the tone of the review, it seems like he had a dispute with the billing and so the review just became a personal "picking apart" of the business. (That is too bad, as I believe that Yelp is not the proper vehicle for such a personal rant... We all have bad days...) Dr. Kamena can be sarcastic if you allow him to be, but his sense of humor was right in line with mine and made my experience extremely comfortable. read more

Worst experience ever. Dr. Kamena is fine, approachable and funny. His staff is totally incompetent. They gave me one single prescription for reading/computer/long distance. Costco could not read the long distance. Went back to Murrieta and was told that Costco should know how to read the prescription or they are incompetent. I insisted they cannot see the long distance data there. They added a line "for reading and computer". Costco made yet another pair that obviously did not work. Went third time to Murrieta with the glasses and voila... you don't have the long distance prescription. Sorry, sorry, sorry... Incompetence!!!! Update. Dr Kamena contacted me shortly after this to apologize and offered to remedy the situation. read more

It had been several years since I last went here and I'm glad to report it is still a phenomenal practice with friendly and helpful staff. Both Scott and Marshall Kamena have a smaller role at the firm now, but their associate Dr. Gee is just as good. Their staff are friendly and helpful and I never felt I was waiting more than a few minutes in between each step. Afterwards it turned out I needed glasses and I was glad to see that glasses covered in my vision plan were very stylish and comfortable. Murrieta Optometry has gone above and beyond everything I could ask for. I have had 5 eye surgeries, 4 of them on my right eye including cataracts and glaucoma, and countless procedures in between all of the surgeries. Dr. Moore was so wonderful asking questions and really trying to understand everything I'd been through. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of. Dr. Kamena came in halfway through my appointment and also consulted on everything that Dr. Moore had been talking to me about. They took the extra time to make sure that I was taken care of and that I was happy in every way. After my appointment, which ran over, Sergey was wonderful and was willing to stay a bit later to let me pick out glasses. Once again, he went out of his way to really give that amazing customer service. After my appointment, I was told that my glasses would take approximately 7-10 business days. Unfortunately, after a month of waiting, I still hadn't received my glasses. I called and said that I wanted to cancel my order. I did not blame Murrieta Optometry at all, I just figured that I would wait and get my glasses later. Once again, they went above and beyond everything I could ask for. Sergey called VSP and they ended up refunding me the extra money I'd spent on my glasses and they apologized for the wait and that my order had fallen through the cracks. I was blown away. He didn't have to do that. He didn't have to make sure that I was taken care of, but he did. Amazing customer service. Holly, the office manager, was such a sweetheart when I came in to get my glasses and the refund. She made sure that I was taken care of. No one at the office ever made me feel bad for the situation. Dr. Scott Kamena, is a life-saver!! My daughter had been horse back riding and got something stuck in her eye. As the day went on, her eye got worse. I called several pharmacies but they were all closed. I then decided to try an optometrist. Murrieta optometry was closed but the machine said that someone would call me back. Sure enough I got a call. Dr.Kamena, took the time (even though he was at a holiday function) to tell me what to do step by step to help my daughter. He then reached out to me an hour later to see how she was doing. If that wasn't enough, he reach out again in the morning to see if her eye was all better!!! I have been going to Murrieta Optometry for about 4 years. Always happy with the Doctors, not so much with the front desk staff...you do not get the "personal" attention you expect. There are too many people behind the desk and you could just stand there for a couple minutes before they even notice you. Also, the turn around time for your new glasses is always off by at least 2 weeks from the day you are told they will be ready Last time I was told my glasses will be ready in 7 to 10 days, it took almost a month to the day of my original eye appointment to get them. I waited the 10 days and a few more, at the 3rd week I called to check if they were ready, they were not, I was told, maybe next Monday..............maybe? I understand there are always delays but it would be nice if someone would contact the patient to notify of those delays. It almost felt as if someone "forgot" to order them when I went to my original eye exam and they order them the day I called to check if they were ready. When I went to pick my new glasses I expected for someone to sit with me and make sure it was the right fit, but of course no one did! I felt as they couldn't wait for me to leave the office, very rushed and basically was just handed them. I have always pay for my new glasses the day of my exams, maybe if I didn't pay right away I would have gotten them sooner? I am not sure if I will come back to Murrieta Optometry, I have been going there because their office location is very convenient for me, but I would probably look for another place. I am tremendously impressed with Dr Christopher Gee and the staff at Murrieta Optometry. Dr. Gee has been correcting my son's nearsightedness with Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) which is a process where the cornea is reshaped at night by wearing rigid gas permeable contact lenses while my son sleeps. My son very badly wanted to wear contact lenses and I was much more comfortable with him wearing them at home while he was sleeping. In addition, Ortho -K may slow the progression of nearsightedness in children and our family history is one of fairiy extreme nearsightedness. However, the challenge was to design rigid gas permeable lenses that a 10 year old was comfortable wearing, in addition to teaching him to insert, remove and disinfect the lenses. Until last week my son was not even comfortable with eye drops in his eyes and I wondered how he would be able to master a skill that some adults even struggle with . While wearing contact lenses was daunting, he was very motivated and gave mastering the lenses his best effort. Dr Gee's Ortho-K lenses have been outstanding! My son says they are very comfortable and his vision during the day was corrected to 20/20 in each eye, all most from the first day using the Ortho -K technique. Amanda who works with Dr Gee was amazingly patient, yet firm in teaching my son how to insert and remove the lenses. She was key to his success with inserting and removing the contact lenses. I've bee astounded by the results that Dr Gee has achieved using Ortho-K with my son. To someone who struggled with very thick glasses as a child, Ortho-K seems miraculous. I highly recommend Dr Gee for Ortho -K nearsightedness correction. read more

I came here before Halloween, and it was fun seeing all their staff in costume and being so light-hearted. Dr. Kamena, who examined me, was particularly in-character with his spiffy pirate costume! That aside, everyone is very professional and detail-oriented. They had me do all these exams to check the general condition of my eyes, as well as things that were in my family's eye history. Things that were missed by my last optometrist, such as why my eyes are so dry (and no, Visine doesn't really cut it), were diagnosed. He gave me an Rx, with a demo on how to use it, and my eyes feel better! Every exam result was explained in detail to me. Very important, since I want to know the health conditions of my eyes since I'm planning to do Lasik in the future. All in all, I'm pleased with my visit. High-five, Dr. Kamena! read more

Dr. Kamena was so awesome...I had a splinter in my eye lid, and it was so awful, he came in to his office early for me, which was so, so nice, and he got nothing out of it besides being the great doctor he is...he made the process of literally tweezing the splinter from my eye so easy...I would recommend him to anyone any day. read more

Dr. Kamena took time to expalin to me all the details of my daughters myopia and answered all my questions to ensure that I was comfortable. He showed me the latest in technology to examine the health of the eyes and made me feel so comfortable that my daughter was in good hands. After my husband had an eye injury, Dr. Kamena was very proactive and made us both feel comfortable that we would get through this. He made himself available after hours and allowed us to walk in just so he could check my husbands eye out to see if there was any progress in his recovery. I have to give a shout out to the folks at Murrieta Optometry. My new eye glasses were perfect, but I had a problem with my sunglasses due to the shape of the lenses I chose. They were very patient and worked me until I finally got a great pair of glasses. Dr. Gee and Sergey were particularly helpful, however, everyone in the office was very nice and professional. IF I COULD RATE THIS OFFICE A 100 STAR I WOULD!!!! HOWEVER A 5 STAR IS THE HIGHEST I CAN RATE! Dr. Kamena went over and above the call of duty to help save my husbands eye with his current diagnosis. Our family has been seen for annual eye visits and NEVER had eye issues besides glasses; however this past visit for my husband was different and in explaining his symptoms to Dr. Kamena after we had spent the week visiting Kaiser and our dentist no one could diagnose and kept telling my husband they couldn't help. Dr. Kamena not only properly diagnosed my husband with shingles but treated him like a human being and not just another patient. My husband after a Friday visit started to develop the "rash" associated with Shingles the next day and it was affecting his eye which was completely swollen shut. We were not familiar with shingles and Dr. Kamena spent hours explaining what it was, how it is cause, and how to treat it. All of which was accurate and working for my husband. Dr. Kamena has been available to Aaron and myself for any and all questions and gone out of his way to check in, visit and examine Aaron. He met me after 8 pm to give me medication which Kaiser would not give and it has been gold to Aarons recovery and Dr. Kamena is making sure his health is getting better not worse. Besides all of this his pure caring for my husbands health is like nothing I have ever witnessed. Thank you Dr. Kamena. We are lucky to have found your office and you to help with what other professionals in the medical field could not.
