Gladys is an artist of her craft. I have been to her twice for box braids, and she has done an excellent job each time. She is extremely knowledgeable and will work with you to give you the best style you want to fit with your lifestyle. The second time I went to her I had decided that I wanted my hair to have significantly less volume since I'm very active. Gladys worked her magic and gave me beautiful, long box braids with 1/2 to 2/3 of the hair she usually uses. My head did not feel any extra weight from the braids even in the first few nights. Finally, there was one kanekalon color that I wanted mixed into my box braids that Gladys did not have. I went last Friday to get my braids done they were done in a timely manner but they were done extremely tight. My braids came out so beautiful everyone was very professional I had two to three people working on and it wants so it didn't take that long Miss Gladys kept coming check in my braids to make sure it's how I wanted it and it was to her standard. As a resident of Herndon/Reston, it's been difficult to find a quality hair braider in the area. I decided to try this shop based on all the other wonderful Yelp reviews. Let me tell you - it lived up to the hype! Gladys and her team are polite and personalable. I got a full head of box braids. They are fast braiders as I was in and out of the shop in about 4.5 hours. I have very thick and full natural hair, Gladys wasn't intimidated at all. Also, the prices are very affordable and since it's a trading shop, the hair is available at the shop! Being a resident of the DC suburbs has made finding a great braided challenging. Considering how long a thick head of hair can take to braid, I prefer not to go into DC or MD, and quite honestly, the options are endless... How am I supposed to pick which place is best? I have had such varied experiences with braids, some so tight that whole braids have fallen OFF my head... No thank you!!! I am SO happy to find Gladys at Musa Braids in Manassas! When I called her (correct number is 703-895-8596) she was able to get me in the same evening, and made things SO easy and comfortable for me! Plenty of parking, and lots of movies to watch. I told Gladys that I can't take tight braids, I will definitely take them out the same night if they are too tight. I wear my hear natural and free, and haven't been braided in at least 10 years, and I'm a total brat when my hair is uncomfortable. I mean, hello, it's 2015, why should I have uncomfortable hair?? Well apparently Gladys is well-known for GREAT BRAIDS THAT ARE NOT TIGHT!!!!!!! Hooray!!! Her two assistants were even able to step in to help in the last hours of the process, making the whole visit take only four pleasant and comfortable hours! I remember in the past going to have my hair braided at some one's house after driving all over the place to find the right type of hair and enough of it, spending the whole day and into twilight having my head yanked around and paying a few hundred bucks on top of it. Gladys provided the hair, was easy to schedule, braided gently and humanely, was great company, miraculously got me out in a relatively short time, gave me a perfect style and only charged me a couple hundred dollars total. I am so happy to meet Gladys and will be back to Musa Braids regularly. I can't believe my luck. I've gone here a few times to get my braids done. I haven't tried any other service but they are fast. I always get a ton of compliments on my hair. The first time I went in I got waist length sengalese twists, they finished in 3 hours. The staff is really nice, sometimes they have specials posted are their Facebook page. I wanted box braids for my birthday party and they had a special for $100. Which is a steal in this area. I work overnight so I appreciate their early hours. I bring my own comfy chair and sleep while they braid lol. read more

This was my third time getting micro braids and first time at Musa. Pros: - scheduling an appointment was easy - good customer service - there is a vast selection of human and synthetic hair ranging in price to purchase inside the salon - pricing is quite reasonable; After a 20% first time customer discount, I paid $200 for the work (not including the price of the hair that I purchased there). Cons: - It took about 7 1/2 hours to finish. I've had this same style completed in 4 1/2 hours in the past, and I had much longer hair then. So I was surprised with the time it took since my hair was about 2 inches long this time. I've been told that it takes less time when the stylist starts in the middle of the scalp (instead of the sides), but didn't want to be rude by suggesting this. - Two weeks after getting the braids, my natural hair started growing out of the braid. This is quite unfortunate because I usually wear this style for about three months, but it already looked "worn" after the first couple weeks. I would recommend Musa. Although I'm unhappy that my natural hair has grown out of the braid so soon, I'll likely return given the Pros that I listed. To expand on "good customer service", I really appreciated Gladys' input on hair color. My natural hair is various shades of brown and she suggested that we mix two tones of brown that ended up looking great together. read more

Yesterday I came in to get box braids for my very first time. Gladys took me in on very short notice. I came in at 3:30 and looked through her huge shop to find hair that was just right for me. We started the braiding around 4 and we finished around 10! Gladys was very gentle on my hair and I barely felt any pulling! She would start each braid, go about 5 inches down and then her apprentices would finish the length of the braids. I am absolutely in love with my braids, thank you so much Gladys! I will recommend Gladys to everyone I meet, she was so open minded about my hair and is a very sweet lady. I learned that she lived in Germany and has much experience with Caucasian hair, like mine. I got my box braids done 3 months ago and they are still holding on strong. Making the appointment was easy and quick. She was very pleasant. The service was quick, out in less than 4 hours. At first I was a little concerned going to a new braider and due to the size of my parts not being as smaller as normal but overall satisfied. 3 months later no braids have fallen out and they still look good. My only issue was that I have long braids and they were not braided down far enough for me so the first week I was braiding the ends of my hair further down. This was the worst experience. When I arrived there was only one braider and three customers including myself. One of the customers was just sitting there with half her hair done for three hours. I then suggested that I come back and the lady was like she will start on my hair. (That meant she will start the twists and another braider will come and finish) Mean while the other customer just sat there with her hair half done waiting for the braider who started on my hair. Eventually it was my turn to wait. I spent 8 hours getting my hair done. The Senegalese twists were not what I expected. The hair was braided and then twisted. My advice is if you don't have time to sit and wait all day, I would suggest trying another braiding service. read more

I found Musa Braids by searching near my home on Yelp. It was easy to make the appointment, and the shop was easy to reach, just off I-66 in Manassas. I took my teenage daughter in for cornrows. Gladys (the stylist /owner) was professional, friendly, and fast. My daughter's hair is thick and shoulder-length, and we just wanted it half-way cornrowed, with the back falling free. It turned out beautifully, and lasted at least a month! We will definitely be back. Next time we might try crochet braids.
