I had my first time massage therapy visit in this clinic and im very much satisfied with their service. The therapist who did my full body massage was great and so professional named Austin. I decided to check this place out since it's so close to my home and I liked what I saw on the website. The receptionist that I talked to was very difficult to understand with her strong accent and didn't sound all that professional. She kept asking me who I wanted as a massage therapist even though I told her this was my first time. The place was really clean and bright when I arrived and the staff were friendly. They didn't have a quiet waiting area tucked away, just a row of chairs in front of reception. The decor was nice, but it felt more clinical than a spa. My massage therapist was friendly and asked me lots of questions and mentioned she used to be a nurse. She talked the entire time though and made it difficult to relax. She admitted to being a smoker and took mints to help mask the smell on her breath, but I could smell it on her the entire time. I also didn't find her technique that great and I left feeling like I needed to book another massage. They only thing I liked was that I got a small bag of Epson salts when I left. I'll be staying with my regular massage therapist as I found this place rather disappointing. Perhaps some of their other therapist are better though. read more

My friend and I decided to go for a massage since we were celebrating her birthday. I found this place by searching google since we don't have a favorite place. It is a small business located on the 2nd floor of the stripmall in Hawkstone plaza. The parking lot is large and they are open late to accommodate those who work during the day. I booked our appointments one week in advance and was told they needed at least 6 business hours in case we needed to cancel or change the appointment. When we arrived, the placed smelled like mint, strong enough to clear your sinuses. Since I am a little sensitive to strong smells, I requested unscented massage oil. I had an one hour massage for $89.25 which I think is reasonable for this amount of time. My massage therapist Kristie, asked if I had any special areas to work on. I wanted a full body massage. She was excellent, asking if there was enough or too much pressure, how I was doing, etc. Once we were done our massages, they offered us a glass of cool water with an orange slice in it. They also gave us a bag of epsom salts and suggested we take a warm bath for 20 minutes before going to bed. The ladies working here were helpful and friendly. This fall, I decided I had enough of the pain and tension in my shoulders and neck and sought out a place where I could get a massage. Muscle Matters was recommended to me by a couple of friends who are also runners, and I decided to book a massage as soon as they could get me in on an evening. I would like to qualify my review by saying that I have never received a professional massage at any other business, but that I am very happy with Muscle Matters, and my therapist (Tina). Muscle Matters focusses solely on massage therapy. There is no spa, or fancy treatments like hot rock massages. I like this, as this was exactly what I was looking for. The business is located on the upper floor of a professional building in the west end, and parking and access is easy. I felt very welcomed by the receptionist and my therapist on my first and subsequent visits, and really appreciated that my therapist took the time to ask me a lot of questions and make me comfortable at my first appointment. The quality of the massages has been excellent, and given me an enormous amount of relief with the pain I had been experiencing. They do direct billing to insurance, and I found the prices to be reasonable ($89 for one hour). You are sent home with a bag of Epsom salts, and I have always left feeling great. A number of other reviewers have commented on their cancellation policy. Their policy is similar to that of a dentist's office, and to hair salons I have been to, or more flexible even (6 hours cancellation). Given how busy they are at certain times of the year, and that evening spots fill up weeks ahead of time, I don't think their cancellation policy is unreasonable. The receptionist also made sure I was aware of the policy before booking with them, and I had to confirm that I agreed to it. read more

I regularly get massages here from Jessica. Muscle Matters direct bills and have evening and weekend appointments, which is always appreciated. Jessica was great at not only helping my sports-related sore muscles, but I've also come in for a car crash related back injury and back pain from a hunched over desk job. One star deducted for the noise. The lobby is quite close to treatment rooms and so you can hear every conversation and footsteps, which can negate some of the peaceful ambiance of a massage. read more

I took my 14 year old daughter here for a massage. She had just celebrated her year recovery from having spinal surgery and was excited for a massage. The therapist was very rude to her, kept sternly telling her to quit resisting the massage and to relax!! My daughter told her the pressure was too much and the therapist wouldn't let up. So disappointed, my daughter was crying afterwards. We'll never be back! read more

I have been going to Muscle Matters over the last several years for your regular aches and pains. I have been happy with all of the therapists. In the last several months, I developed a few injuries that required both physical therapy and massage therapy and started seeing Andrew at Muscle Matters. Andrew is extremely knowledgeable on body and muscles and accurately predicted where the problems were even before results of MRI. Andrew then treated those areas and educated me. My sessions with Andrew produced more positive results than sessions with physio therapists. Andrew is an excellent massage therapist, he is both compassionate and knowledgeable, and is now the only therapist that I book with. read more

Very poor customer service! I called to get a last minute hour appt. and booked one for 3 hours later. I realized the time wouldn't work and called back about an a half hr after my first call to ask if I could switch to a half hour appt because I didn't think I could make it there on time. They said ok and switched the appt. When I got there they said they had left a message to say I would have to pay for the full hour. Of course I never got the message because I was driving there. Obviously I will never go back which is unfortunate because the masseuse and location were good. If you are a walk in maybe it would be a good business but beware of their harsh cancelation 'policy'. read more

I'm a girl who needs the deep tissue massage rather frequently due to back problems... I am happy to say I love this place! I've been going here for a few years - and its just great! Friendly staff.. and nice and quiet.. I've only ever had one issue.. however it was small and addressed quickly by a manager. I stopped in to check out prices and to book an appointment as I hadn't had a massage in a couple years and they were close to home. I booked for later that day and when I arrived I had to fill out paperwork, which I asked the receptionist why i wasn't offered to do that when standing there earlier to book the appointment. then once in the room the consultation took another 35 mins and the therapist left the room to go and get a big book to look to get info from. So by the time i actually had my $92 hour massage, it was only for maybe 20 mins. before i left the receptionist gave me my invoice and i told her some of my concerns and she said i would have to contact the manager via email. so i paid as it wasn't her fault and i left, went home and emailed right away. when I got a response back the manager/owner said I should've showed up 15 mins prior to my appointment to complete the paperwork and I got what I paid for as the consult is part of the time. i tried to go through my credit card company but Muscle Matters told them i stood there and paid so i agreed to the service and that i should've know their policies to show up 15 minutes earlier and that i was late because i didn't show up prior to, to complete the paperwork. Nice customer service, your staff don't tell me i have to show up 15 min prior to and i could've just done the paperwork when i booked, and that's not even the reason for the 20 min massage. AWEFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL, OVERPIRCED service. too expensive and i didn't even get the full 1 hour i paid for. I was so sore the next couple of days because the massage brought out all the problems but were not worked out due to the short time. I would not recommend them to anyone. Beware, this company has a cancellation policy that has no flexibility. I booked an appt on sat for Monday at 8:30 am. My 7 year old had the flu and was up all night sick. I left a message on the machine at muscle matters for when they open. They told me I would be charged the cancellation fee an I let her know I did not feel it was fair as I had booked last minute. I did not see any charges but when I went back they told me I had to pay. I let her know again I did not feel this was right, she would not look at me anymore, I had told her I wanted to book for my mother and was going to prepay as it was her Birthday. I cancelled that appt and let her know I was not going to return. I do not believe she was the manager but the customer service is terrible. I had been going here for years and have referred at least 5 people. I think everyone should be aware I would not recommend this place due to the poor service. read more

Worst massage I've ever received. My friend and I were sore in our necks & backs and knew a massage would make us feel better for a little while. We booked an appointment together for a 45-minute massage each. When I got in the room, the massage therapist was very friendly and the bed was heated which was nice. Once she started, it felt good, but only for a few minutes. She barely put any pressure on my back at all & it seem like she didn't know any massage techniques like I've received at other Spas. When I got out of the room, I didn't feel any better and was very disappointed. I went to pay and noticed my friend was not out of the room yet, so I checked the time and my massage therapist had only done a half hour on me! Thank god the receptionist realized that and only charged me for 30 minutes. After my friend finished and we left the building, she said her massage was horrible as well! Very disappointed.
