I go here for the coffee, it's definitely solid and you can tell they use freshly roasted beans. In terms of the service, I just wish the counter guy was a little more on point, he tends into do a lot of unnecessary stuff which inevitably leads to a line growing. The menu board lists alternative milks like oat, almond, and soy, though when I visited, they were out of soy milk. They use Kirkland as their milk brand. What we ordered: two New Orleans Cold Brews and a Chocolate Latte. The Cold Brews were just okay as the brew was sitting toward the bottom of the bottle. They also host several coffee classes where you can learn how to make your ideal cup using different methods like Chemex, Aeropress, Nanopresso, and French Press. Stopped in this weekend to sit and have a quick coffee and Muse ended up being the perfect place. It's a small and welcoming place to sit for a while and enjoy some coffees. we tried the seasonal lattes: Pistachio hot latte & Iced Vanilla Cinnamon Latte and both were really good. They used a double espresso shot in each and both were perfectly flavored without being too sweet. I definitely want to go back and try their cold brew and their Kyoto coffee. read more

I went to Muse Coffee on a Sunday morning with my cute baby daughter. It's a cool hipster looking cafe. There were some people working on laptops and a few people chatting on the bench outside. The menu is pretty short, mostly coffee and a few pastries. I got a cold brew and a chocolate pistachio croissant. Cold brew was average, I liked my croissant, it was very flaky and chocolatey. While sipping my drink, I noticed they also had a Kyoto single origin cold brew which supposedly had fruity notes. I ordered it and it was very good and was noticeably fruity. Similar to the fruity notes you might find in some wine or beer. It was so fruity I was almost convinced that they added something to it, not just coffee. But the guy at the counter assured me it's just the way the beans grow. I would totally come back for the Kyoto Single Origin. read more

Located on a quiet street in Lyndhurst, Muse Coffee is open a bit later than other dedicated coffee shops in the area. We arrived on a Sunday at 330pm and they were still open. We got the hot vanilla cinnamon latte with oatmilk, an iced vanilla cinnamon latte with oatmilk and an iced americano. Drinks were bold and perfectly roasted beans were used. There's an additional chard for oat milk like any other place. Our vanilla cinnamon latte was lacking in cinnamon, maybe the barista forgot to add it but we still drank it since we got it to go and still enjoyed our drinks. I was a bit surprised that they do not do half- decaf for anything especially for a dedicated coffee shop. I asked for my drink to be decaf instead. The little caffeine in decaf beans still gave me a push for the afternoon- not a deal breaker but I wish they were able to do this for customers who cannot handle a fully caffeinated drink for heart reasons. The interior is peaceful and well decorated. Our lone barista was friendly. Beans were freshly grounded. There are pastries in the counter and a few branded items to purchase on shelves. parking is metered street parking. Would recommend! read more

I love stopping in for a quick break from the madness of the daily grind. Muse coffee has a nice chill local spot vibe to it! People definitely work from the cafe and they have books for people to read. I actually learned so much about coffee from the articles on their website on types of coffee and brewing techniques. They definitely know their stuff and the coffee is rich and decadent as they use high quality coffee. I believe they have single origin coffee. I honestly decided to try it out as I always saw people go in and it was no mistake. They have seasonal flavors that change. So far i have tried the lavender, mint mocha, sweet potato, maple cinnamon, vanilla and vanilla cinnamon latte. My favorite ones are lavender, mint mocha, and maple cinnamon thus far. I wish they had more bakery items but they recently started selling bread. They also have barista skills classes you can sign up for which I hope to attend one day. The staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions or questions you may have. read more

I came here to do some work and relax with a cup of coffee. I got a lavender latte. There coffee is a step by roast which is not my preference but for those who like it strong, I think it's pretty good quality. I also got a buttery croissant which was good. I saw on Yelp that they had some other cool baked goods that I didn't see there when I went so that was a bummer. It's very relaxing inside and with what looks like a bunch of different Knick knacks from around the world or antiques. This is a perfect place to get some work done, or come read a book . They also have some outside seating if you wanna enjoy the weather. One of the owners was the barista that day. He was nice, very social with customers, and makes a good cup of coffee. read more

I loved the vibe in this place, from the moment you walk in the decor is beautiful and there's reggae music playing on the speakers. A fun thing I noticed was that there's various musical instruments that can be played around the store too. I only stopped by for a quick coffee stop before I had to go elsewhere, but this would definitely be a great place to work or study. The service itself was slower, but I didn't mind that since the cafe interior had so many places to explore. There was also only one guy who was the barista and took orders. The one thing I will say is that the matcha drink I got felt super diluted and left much to be desired. It was still good though and I finished it. My fiancés lavender drink was amazing though, it really had the taste of fresh lavender in it. My croissant was also great, but I wish it could have been warmed. Overall, I'd probably stick with a coffee drink here and I would definitely come back if I'm in the area for a quick coffee date. A little confusing of a menu, but at the same time straightforward. Instead of labeling drinks as cortado, flat white, latte, etc, they refer to them as espresso plus __ oz of milk. We ordered a 10 oz of milk with espresso, which was way more milk than we thought, and a sweet potato latte, which was much smaller and sweeter than I liked. But we mixed the two drinks and they were perfect after that. The ambiance is very chill, and I found the lofi music perfect for editing. read more

I found this cafe a few years ago when they had just opened. I love how it is set up so nicely, with areas to relax and play a game. Their single bathroom is nice as well, though not really handicapped accessible (it is a bit small). I am not a picky coffee fan, if it tastes good after I put non-dairy milk and sweetener in it, then I am happy. I am vegan so I was pleased when they offered non-dairy milk choices. They have a few vegan packaged snacks as well. I was there last Saturday and I had a vanilla iced latte. My friend and I got our drinks and walked around the neighborhood. I had asked for more milk than coffee and the vanilla flavor needed to be increased. So, I did go back and ask for more and the guy at the counter was nice and gave me more. It's such a nice place and I hear they have events and such but I am only in the area on Saturdays. read more

Wanted to try out more local coffee shops instead of spending all my money at the big chains, and stumbled across this one on yelp. Parking is pretty bad, as there is only street parking available in a high traffic street, but we got lucky and found a spot nearby. The cafe itself is super cute and cozy with lots of warm homey vibes (books, spacious seating, drums, a guitar). As for the menu and coffee, I thought it was pretty limited, with few coffee choices/options (particularly lattes, which are my favorite); and other than a few baked goods I didnt see anything else to try. I tried the chocolate latte which was pretty tasty, but so expensive for such a small cup. Our barista was nice and made good suggestions, and we got our coffees in a timely manner (though to note, we were the only ones in line). Overall, the poorer review is for the location and parking and for an overpriced drink. I probably would not be back because I dont think the coffee was THAT good to justify the price and inconvenience of getting there. Though, to each their own! I've been searching for a good coffee spot, and each week we've been trying a new cafe. Today, it was Muse, and gotta say, we weren't disappointed! This block got a much-needed face lift a while back and Muse is exactly the kind of cool small biz you want to see open to show our little town is capable of having those small pockets of 'cool' that Montclair and Jersey City and Maplewood think they have a monopoly on. I walked in and was immediately digging the aesthetics. On the coffee table are coffee table books (!) ranging from yoga to UFC to hip-hop to Bruce Lee and it feels like they had an inkling I was coming in and knew what I like. Gentleman behind the counter was awesome (anyone who owns a Sleestak baseball cap is a-okay in my book) and the coffee he's brewing is phenomenal. (Their 'balanced espresso' is my current fave.) Good java is going to cost a pretty penny and the intersection here is usually bonkers making driving/parking a headache - but if those issues aren't able to mess with your prāṇāyāma - you really should swing by here and give them a shot. read more

This is a great little study/work cafe. It has an arrangement of seating, free wifi, and a chill atmosphere. I appreciate how the music playing was soft instrumental, which added to the sit-and-work vibe. The aesthetic is also so pleasing and calming, you can tell the owners/workers put effort into cultivating the feel. I am not a coffee person, so I can't review that aspect, but they did have very impressive-looking coffee setups. They do NOT have decaf, which is all I can drink, so I ordered a chai latte and it was pretty tasty, with a good portion for $5. They don't have much in the way of food, with a few pastries and some packaged snacks from what looks like local businesses, so don't expect to be able to order breakfast or lunch while you sit and work. The best cup of coffee I've ever had. My husband and I popped in this morning after finding Muse through a google search. The latte art in the photos sold me bc that's usually a sign that the baristas are familiar with what a quality cup of coffee consists of. We read the menu options and were intrigued by the sweet potato latte. I've never heard of sweet potato as a flavor for coffee and was very apprehensive to try it but my husband suggested getting something a little more out of the box from my usual vanilla latte. Being that they didn't have the gimmicky 101 Torrini flavors I assumed that the sweet potato flavor was a quality, in house syrup- so I decided to give it a shot and wow- it did not disappoint to say the least. I've never had a coffee more silky and smooth- absolutely no bitterness. The sweet potato syrup tasted quality, and was not overly sweet. The sweetness level was on point. Somewhat pulled fruity pebbles vibes . $6.40, which is about what you can expect to spend for a medium latte pumped out of a machine at Dunkin' Donuts or a grande espresso drink w alternative milk at Starbucks , only this is WILDLY better. Drink was a little sweet (for my tastebuds) but that's on me as I didn't specify fewer pumps of syrup. I came here to work from my computer 3-4 times and the staff was always extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. Their coffee tastes great! They have different milk/non-milk options and you can get your coffee in a glass (rather than a plastic cup) which I thought was nice! They have two couches in the front and back, regular tables with seating for 2-4 people and a bar table facing the window. The place has no central AC which I loved (!!!) because I wasn't freezing to death for a change (like at Starbucks or other places where they could keep penguins alive). The wall art is unique and very pretty! The ambience is overall very cozy and inviting! The only thing missing were food options!! I did get a croissant once and it was good but they only ever had one kind of pastry available when I was there. It would be even better if they had cookies or a variety of pastries to choose from! Loved this place! Went here for the first time today with my boyfriend and his sister, we all got different lattes and all loved our drinks. Cassidy (I think that's her name, sorry if I misspelled!) had great energy and was so patient in answering all questions we had about their coffee, their products, made recommendations for us, and just made us feel very welcome. Unlike a lot of coffee shops in Jersey, Muse makes many of their own syrups which helps differentiate the flavor and quality of their lattes. Will definitely be coming back again! read more
