Ok - i love muse and thy have only improved since the last time i went a year ago at a different location, but this location is SO SMALL - there is no room for food on the tables and you can barely grab your supplies.. so.. you may have room for a drink, but this is a very small location. This is a great place to meet up, let loose & get creative! I would have preferred to go to a 3:30 class, but one of our friends couldn't make it due to work. So, we attended the 7pm class. The instructions say to arrive by 6:30pm...there was a line of at least 10 people waiting to be let in after 6:30pm had already passed. We could see outside the windows that they were setting up for our class. Sucked that it was really cold out, but everyone was patient. I appreciate that they seat people by their group so everyone can be together. They have color-coded brushes to help during the process & cans of water. It's upbeat & colorful inside. At the top of the easels, there is a QR code that allows you to order drinks & food delivered to your table. There is the option to go directly to the bar. I agree with a lot of the other people regarding the menu. It's overly expensive for what is clearly frozen food that is dropped into a fryer. They charge $8 for a 5oz plastic cup of 'margaritas' -- no ice, no blending... just warm, super sweet, pre-made margarita mixes in a short plastic, clear cup. Considering the time of day for the class, it was $45/p.p. for a small-ish canvas. The class was fun & went well. I couldn't give a 5-star review just due to the overpriced & disappointing food & drink menu. It was extremely convenient to order from the QR food & it was fast service, but not enough to be 5-stars. read more

I LOVE the concept. Muse Paintbar is a place where you can create something beautiful in an easy step by step way and catch up with friends and family at the same time. I have never had an issue with the painting during this but I did recently have an issue with an instructor who was unaware of a promo being run. I reached out with my frustration at the lack of knowledge and was promptly issued a refund for that portion and a sincere apology. Other than the initial disappointment it was hassle free and well handled. Plus I had a great girl's night out with my grandmother and sister. It was much needed. read more

A friend and I had set a date for yesterday to go muse paint bar, we arrived 25 minutes prior to session in order to order food and drinks keep in mind Kitchen opens at 2:30 so we had plenty of time. We were informed that there was only one employee, and that was the instructor that would be doing the class as well, I believe her name was lindsay and she told us she was the manager, kitchen would not be open which was complete bullshit. There was another employee painting on the front window.. we asked if there were any restaurants that delivered food to the location . She gave us a couple recommendations that were not too our liking. At that point, she gave us a snotty attitude and had said we have different taste !!. at that point, we asked her if we ran to the corner store if we were running a couple minutes late if she could, please hold off on the class a couple minutes because we weren't sure if we'd get back in time , keep in mind they were only two other people that would be attending class and their kitchen was closed and we had no notification prior to the class. At that point, we went to the corner store. We were back prior to the start of class time went up to the counter to get our drinks. Music was so loud she could not hear us place our order. We asked her if she could turn down the music just a little bit so she could hear us, and oh boy, did it go south from there? She told us she didn't like our attitudes and that the music would be going up and down all night long which is fine. They can play the music as loud as they want as long as you can hear paying customers making a request, which she couldn't, she then said she did not like our attitudes and was gonna ask us to leave. We were willing to leave because at this point we had no interest and staying in there with the attitude that she gave us at we asked for a refund and she said no. If I could rate our visit far as customer service, I would give them over a 10.. Lindsey should not be in customer service at all. I would avoid this place if Lindsey is working, I can't speak on behalf of the other employees because we did not deal with them and Lindsey if you're reading this the corporation did give us our money back.! I would never recommend anyone to do a private party at Muse Paintbar. They are very disorganized. I decided to throw an adult birthday party there. They were fast to take my money but non existent when I had questions on setup and planning. Also they have a $50 minimum in their snack bar you have to purchase ahead of time. I took my girlfriend for a surprise birthday date and didn't tell her until we walked up to the door. After learning what our plans were going to be for the night she was hesitant to say the least. I heard other 'Muse rookies' around us saying things like 'I can't paint' and 'I have no artistic talent' but those ideas were soon squashed once we began the painting of our own paradise island (which couldn't have been complete without the Coronas). Our instructor Vanessa was great; explaining each step with patience and an optimistic view. I didn't see anyone without a smile on their face in the house. Visited Muse a few weeks ago with a large group funding a family member's missions trip. It was a ton of fun and unlike anything I'd ever done before! A totally unique experience. The "instructor" was great at showing everyone technique and letting us create our own masterpiece. As someone who has never painted before (drawing is more my strength), I was so pleasantly surprised that even I could make something worth hanging on the wall. The entire environment was upbeat, positive and just so fun. My only "complaint" is that the food/drinks are SUPER expensive. read more

These places seem to be popping up everywhere. I attended one of these things in Texas, but they didn't have a set location; it took place at a Johnny Rockets. But this is different - it's its own location, that has bathrooms and serves a little food and drink. They serve wine and beer. The food is definitely frozen items that have been baked up - but that's fine by me. You don't go here for the food - you go to paint and have fun, maybe have a drink. - When you go to these things, they usually make you hold your hand above the blank canvas and recite a "prayer" - to have fun, not use the words "i messed up" or "mine stinks". They didn't do that here. We just dove in painting. I heard a lot of people getting a little stressed out over it. Me, I knew this wasn't serious so I just painted. It was fun. My painting looked good here, but as soon as you get it home you're like, UGH! But - I would definitely go again. It's a good setup here plus you're in downtown Manchester so you can make a night of it. read more

I had never been before and a friend convinced me to go. The place is great decor wise. They have Moscato wine which made me really happy and it was excellent wine. My friend had bruschetta to eat which was a pretty simple dish bit still tasty. I had a dip that had chicken in it and plenty of cheese and came with some chips. That alone was good enough for dinner. The painting was a lot of fun and a little tough, but really enjoyable. I wish I hadn't been in a corner as it was tough to see and I was near a door that I was blocking a little and had to move more than once to let people by. The girls that were there that night had great personalities and made it fun and kept people engaged. I definitely am planning to go back. read more

Went to Muse with a group of friends & spouses. We all had a blast, some of us were creatively challenged where others excelled not knowing how skilled they could have been with just a little direction. For the price of admission its an ok deal, you have to keep in mind it is an art CLASS as well as the materials to then be able to bring home your beloved paining. I took a star off for the extremely over priced bar prices & their "eats" are pretty much vending machine food at twice the price or more. Eat before you go, pregame before hand as well fellas. There's a bar within walking distance if you need a beer at a reasonable price. All in all the experience is worth it, try to book it with their facebook deal coupon codes for a better price & try not to have to buy anything from the bar. read more

I'll start off by saying my sister and I came for a session as a "girl's day" activity and were absolutely blown away by the staff's enthusiasm and passion for what they do. The painting experience was excellent and the environment was very relaxed and encouraging. However, the food was ROBBERY. I do understand expectations shouldn't be that high as Muse is not boasting great eats, but the quality for price was beyond disappointing. We got an order of the $9 boneless Buffalo wings and the ~$17 charcuterie board. The "wings" didn't even qualify as mystery nuggets and the board consisted of 3 warm pieces of pita (the highlight of the snack), a 2-oz cup of what must have been the bottom of a bag of nuts (literally dust), another 2-oz cup of olives, 6 cubic-centimeter pieces of cheese, and 3 thin slices of cheap salami on toothpicks. I'd be embarrassed. Moral of the story, don't come hungry. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Muse for my birthday a few months ago. We went on a couples night, which I loved because we were able to make complimentary paintings, not end up with two of the same paintings. The set up was great, enough room to sit or stand while you pain, and plenty of seats with a full view of the artist teaching the class. I wanted to leave this review because I recently went to a Paint Nite and was disappointed in that experience compared to the one I had at Muse. I attended the "paint your pet" session, you upload a pic of your pet and it is lit on a canvas for you to trace and paint. Very well run, everything is set up and ready to go when you arrive. I am the one that can't paint, not crafty and even I came out with a decent painting. I think it is probably a bit easier when you attend the regular class, everyone painting the same scene, but the staff was really nice and helped me save my pic, I screwed up the mouth/teeth and they fixed it no prob. There is a bar and small menu, I just had guacamole and chips, was good and fresh, flatbreads looked really good. Pro tip: make sure you bring a copy of the picture you sent, helps to be able to refer to it. read more

What an awesome place!!!! I saw the Couptopia deal and got a couple of friends to purchase them too so we could check Muse Paintbar out. I went in to it expecting a fun night out with friends but that I'd be walking away with a painting that would find a home in the trash. I am not an artistic person but the way the instructor led us through the painting, doing it in stages and layering I am actually pretty proud of my final product and plan on hanging it on my wall. The atmosphere is fun and friendly and while space is a little cluttered, overall it's a wonderful experience. I was able to have a couple glasses of wine, get creative, and share some laughs and a new experience with friends. This is a night out you should definitely try; I know I plan on going back! read more

I went to Muse for the first time on June 22. It was so crowded you couldn't move. The instructor spent more time playing with her phone than instructing. I couldn't believe the number of breaks during the class - several 15 minutes +. We were told if we wanted help to ask for it but with only one person circulating the floor and that same person taking pictures and serving food and drinks not sure how that would have worked out. I used a hairdryer on my painting and got the hairy eyeball - the hairdryer was removed from our area and put in the far end of the room. If this had been my first time painting I would never do it again. IAt Muse there was no social interaction at all beyond the group you were with. The picture painted didn't even look like the one that was hanging up there. Awful time - never going back there!! read more

Muse Paintbar provides a reasonably priced, unique, and fun experience for people of any age or skill level Pros: -It felt welcoming and had a very good learning curve for any kind of participant. -None of the prices were that outlandish for what you get out of it. Cons: -Nothing major. A month ago, a coupon for Muse Paintbar popped up on one of the local discount sites promoting a $29 special. The prices usually range from $35-$45, and this sounded like the perfect opportunity to try out this cute little venue off of Hanover Street. A couple friends and I bought our coupons and were able to very easily make reservations on their website for a date about a month in the future.* We were able to reserve together and be sat next to each other with no issues. *Note: Their online reservation system has been upgraded and is even easier to navigate too. I believe they post the following month's paintings about halfway through the current month. We arrived really early (about 5:00 to a 6:00 pm session) to get a look around the place. They have samples of most of the paintings they've done hanging on the walls and a bunch of 4 and 6 person tables at the center. There is a small bar in the back that serves drinks (beer, wine, and nonalcoholic: $7 for wine, $4-4.75 for beer IIRC) and small plates (can't vouch for those). There is also a staging area for the lead artist to stand and give instructions. They make the most out of their space, with room for a lot of "artists" without feeling that cramped. Each person is given their own canvas to use and bring home, as well as a set of brushes, paint, and all the necessary supplies with the ability to get more if needed. The thing about painting is that it's one of those things that is very easy to be self-conscious about. I've never been "good" at art and I was nervous about doing this, but they never made me feel that way. The method they used for our painting was very simple and done in stages and focused on layers, which was a lot easier to comprehend than a specific instruction set or paint-by-numbers style. The instructor clearly explained the "how" of each step in terms of paint combinations, brush styles, and object placement. Plus, no one went around and checked on what you were doing, so you never felt the need to impress someone beyond yourself (for such a small room, it felt private). Each stage gave ample time to the painters to complete their projects without rushing and each stage was easy enough for most people to understand without feeling overwhelmed. They really have the environment down to where novices and experts can share a room and have fun. I don't have many cons to be honest. I needed more paint than what I started with, but there were two big paint carts so that wasn't a big deal. By the end of the painting, the work area got pretty cramped with several paint plates, paper towels, water cans, and six people/paintings. This is a necessary evil but in an ideal world there would be a bit more space. Personally, I don't know how much fun I would have if I were alone. Some people were, but I wouldn't want to do it without some friends to share the experience with and talk to throughout. This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I may be their least likely customer and I had an absolute blast. I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone should give Muse a try once. In a city that can lack a lot of interesting, unique things to do that don't involve eating and drinking, this is a gem. Update: I have been back since my original review was posted. I booked for a group and their web reservation system was absolutely perfect. The experience was just as fun the second time around and I got another fun takeaway to put on my wall. I still highly recommend Muse, it's just gotten better. read more

We went to the paintbar last Friday. It was easy to find, although parking made us arrive later than we wanted to. We were a little confused as there were two doors and both were locked. We knocked repeatedly and motioned to folks inside but it took at least 5 minutes for someone to let us in. This left us a bit rattled, admittedly, and we recommend leaving more than 30 minutes before the session (with the parking issue). It was very crowded and the music was loud. We finally found our names but they were on separate tables. We were doing a couples painting. We asked a bunch of people until we finally found someone who worked there - it would be super helpful if they wore special smocks or name tags. They managed to put us kitty corner to one another. The tables were seating 6 people with easels and art supplies - way too crowded. I understand it's a business and the goal is to make money but it was really too squished. It would be much better with 4 per table. You had to move your easel and be very cautious reaching for the paper towels and plates in the center. The woman to my fiance's left painted his painting with black paint accidentally, and the woman to my right watched me closely as I tried to paint the edge of my canvas. The instructions started late but we were able to finish on time so all is well. The instructor did a lovely job... I don't envy her trying to teach a bunch of wine-sipping non-artists in a packed room how to put out a finished product. We thought at one point she was a little rattled as in trying to describe a crooked, odd rectangle she called it 'retarded'. A hush fell over the room with that un-PC comment but all was forgiven within a moment. She was readily available, eagerly coming to anyone who needed assistance. Overall, I have always wanted to try painting and this was a great way to get out on a Friday night and learn basic techniques and a sense of accomplishment. If you get discombobulated with chaos (tight crowds and noise) this may not be for you, but I would highly recommend this as a girls' night out. read more
