My favourite part was the rooftop; the famous chimney sculptures and panoramic views over Barcelona were beautiful and there were plenty of photo opportunities. The audio guide was helpful and explained the history and design very carefully and clearly. If you're planning to visit, booking your tickets in advance is a good idea since it gets quite busy, especially during the summer.

Since my hotel was down the block from the house, I thought it would be a great idea to check it out during my time here. That being said, I booked tickets and made plans to visit. La Pedrera - Casa Milà is one of several structures in the city that were designed by Antoni Gaudí. This is arguably one of his more famous ones - it's a large structure that wraps around the block with a striking facade. Like the other houses, tours are provided which prompted me to see what types where were. We decided to go with a night tour which presents the house in a different light (literally) and is paired with a show on the roof at its conclusion. The tour was guided, and took us from the main atrium on the ground floor up to one of the apartments in the building. Throughout, we learned about the history of the space as well as some of the unique architectural aspects of the space. At the conclusion of the tour, we were led to the roof to see a light show that was projected on the different structures up there; there were also great night views of the city. Overall the tour was pretty good. I thought the light show was the weakest part to be honest, and went on for too long. Outside of that, I thought this was a great look into Gaudí's work. I would return to check out their daytime experience.

I stopped in here based on a recommendation from a colleague. My whole family is made up of history teachers so I love getting to visit sites like this. The upper floors of the museum have some artifacts and do a nice job providing a high level overview of the history of Barcelona. It starts with Barcelona as a Roman Colony and goes through the modern era. The main attraction though is ruins underground. You can see artifacts from the Roman Era and Medieval Era. It was really neat. Mostly it is just foundations, but there are some tiled areas that take you back in time. The cost is modest, and your ticket is good for several days. It was a great way to spend ~1.5 hours learning about Barcelona.

The building has a Persian/Moroccan flavor with the constant use of decorative tiles, illustrated ceilings, and Moorish arches. It's up in the quieter Gracia neighborhood away from the crowds at the other Gaudi landmarks, but it's worth the trek. The grounds are unique in integrating the interior and exterior elements into a seamless picture of nature. There's a heavy dose of exotic Asian flair (...hey, I didn't say Oriental) in the ridged framing, the shape of the eaves, and the rampant idiosyncratic decorative touches. The rooftop is relatively modest for Gaudi, but this is where he started after all. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. There is a self tour--honestly the voice recording was a little grating, so we had one person in the group read from the text from theirs. The information is a must because there are otherwise very few placards identifying the rooms or highlighting details. The gift shop had lots of tempting stuff, much of it made in Barcelona.

This private museum is on the smaller side but has a respectable collection of art pieces comprising furniture, paintings, sculptures, stained glass and more. Available literature tells the story of the modernist movement in Catalonia and how the museum came to be. The labels for each art piece are helpfully translated into Catalan, Spanish, English and French. While the museum opened only in 2010, the building itself was designed in the modernist style and built between 1902 to 1904. The building was originally purposed as a warehouse for a textile company. How times have changed. The museum today serves an important role in preserving some of humanity's treasures of the past. General admission is currently 12€, but this place was included in our Barcelona Pass. This was a decent use of an hour on a day that we used the pass to hit up multiple museums!

The exterior is so beautiful and resembles a sea creature. He was known to get his inspiration from nature and it shows throughout Casa Batllo. The tour took about an hour. We went early in the day to avoid a long wait time. There are some gift shops in different sections throughout the tour and they also had an option to take a photo on the balcony which was available for purchase. Overall it was a nice experience!

The museum was not too busy, there were children of different ages on field trips and then some folks like me just exploring. The museum exhibitions were so interactive, I learned so much about the universe, physics, chemistry, and biology, way more than school could have taught me tbh!
