DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!! I bought an accordion and paid for two day shipping since my fathers birthday was in 3 days and I wanted to surprise him. The instrument was delivered 5 days later and BROKEN. I returned it to the store and they did not refund the 2 day shipping. The manager and her staff at this location are amazing. They are attentive and very knowledgeable about lessons and instruments. We have used a few of the instructors for lessons and have never been disappointed. We did leave briefly to try out (1yr) another well known studio with a location in Weddington and were greatly disappointed. Their instructor constantly was looking at his watch and acted as if he didn't really wish to be there. We have never experienced this at M&A. David is amazing. Not only is he patient , David gives constructive criticism that makes the student actually love playing and encourages each student to reach new heights within their craft. I'm seeing some bad reviews on here, and I honestly can't speak for anyone else. But, every time I have walked into this store I was always greeted and felt welcomed in. I brought my uncles acoustic guitar he bought me before he passed in because one of the strings were missing. The young lady in there not only smiled and gladly fixed my one missing string, but did it free of charge. Of course I did buy a new box of strings. I tipped her a little something because I was so grateful . I hope the store takes peoples reviews and makes it a better experience for the ones who didn't have such a great experience here. After all, we all could work on improvement here and there. Overall, I like going to this location over the others . read more

Went to this store to get an instrument serviced. Wish that I had good things to say about this establishment but I don't have anything nice to say at all. There is a serious lack thereof in this place, the people that work there seem to really dislike working there and it shows in every aspect of their demeanor. The instrument sat in their store for a month before it was sent out to be serviced and the only reason they remembered to send it out was because I called to see if it was ready and they realized it had never been sent out, (no apologies) when I finally picked it up the instrument was not in working condition, had to bring back for another 2 weeks and when you speak to these people they seem to be in another zone the atmosphere there is one of doom and gloom, never seen anything like it! I gave it 2 stars because I'm so happy I never have to do business here ever again!! read more

I have been in what can only be described as an ordeal to get my 7th grade daughter a trumpet with Music and Arts as a corporation. My beef is not necessarily with this location but with the corporation as a whole. I had to drive over 80 miles to pick up my daughter's trumpet after I was informed via an outsourced customer service call that it could be 6 weeks + before she received her instrument. Then, when I drove the vast distance to the nearest physical store, I had to re-do all the paperwork and agreements only to receive 2 separate agreements in the mail after the fact. I then spent over 45 minutes on hold with the customer support folks in India only to be disconnected and then rudely dismissed when I called back. Then, when I tried to purchase the instrument from them instead of buying via a rental agreement, I was given a vastly different amount than what was stated on the one correct documentation I was sent through the mail from Music and Arts! I was rudely told by the Indian customer service representative whom I could barely understand that a manager would contact me within 48-72 hours! If I had it to do over, I'd simply have bought the same trumpet on Amazon Prime, gotten it within 2 days, and paid way less for it!!!!!!!! Music and Arts can suck me! read more

This is the worst company possible to rent your instruments from. They have no support if there is an issue. They do not respond to customer needs or complaints. Very slimy business practices. I have paid off my instrument over 2 months ago and still have not received the certificate of ownership after multiple attempts with calls and emails to their company. My 14 year old daughter is taking trumpet lessons from a fine and professional Charlotte trumpet player and teacher. He noticed that one of her valves was rubbing slightly, making it a little difficult to play. He suggested we take it to Music & Arts, which is where he gets his service and repairs done. So we drove to the Providence Rd. location, where a young woman pushed the keys for all of 5 seconds and told us that 'There's nothing wrong with it', and 'We don't sell this brand, so I know for a fact they won't work on it'. I came in to get an instrument repaired and to rent one while the other was out. It took an hour before I was able to speak with anyone and get this process going. Once I in front of a sales person it took another 35mins to just rent a alto sax and process that other for repair. What was most frustrating was the level of disregard for the other customers in the store. Each associate spent an enormous amount of time in general conversation with the person in front of them. I am all about customer relations however, this went to far. Especially when so many people were waiting for service. Fast forward two days... I went back to swap out cases and called a head to make the process would be quick. I arrived and saw a very long line at the service counter. I simply needed to switch out cases. No paper work or cash exchange and I called ahead. I asked if I could get the case and was told to get in line. The case was behind the counter and still they made me wait in line for and hour for a 30sec exchange. I am very disappointed with this level customer service and although the drive is longer I suggested going to Guitar Center in Pineville or Sam Ash on Tyvola. At least they will get you in and out while still maintaining an appropriate customer relationship. read more

I was misinformed by staff regarding the cost of a repair and still held responsible for the full repair amount after the fact. I needed one trumpet valve inlay replaced. This is what I authorized when I dropped the instrument off. They sent the trumpet off for this repair and a full-service ultrasonic cleaning along with other maintenance was additionally provided- without my authorization. When I called to inquire, I was told they are fully trained technicians so they provide this full service to return the instrument to working condition. It was in appropriate working condition when I dropped it off!! It was only missing 1 inlay on 1 valve. A disappointing and unethical way to get my money Music and Arts! read more

All of your music needs can be satisfied right here. We've used them for everything from instrument rentals to reeds to sheet music. I absolutely love the staff. They are always upbeat, lively and most importantly helpful. Came in today to return a rental and I was in and out in five minutes and they made me laugh! Only downside is that they have no competition in the area and prices are a tad high in my opinion. read more

We were excited for our child to receive lessons but the teacher would constantly cancel on the DAY OF. As a business owner myself, this is NOT how you grow your business nor keep great customers that WANT to give you their references and money. The girls at the front of the house have great customer service but they need to be trained how to apologize for losing a customer due to THEIR hired teacher who is not consistent. My child walked in ready for a lesson and was told the teacher canceled. It is simply inconvenient to drive 20 mins to the lesson only to find out another class has been canceled THREE times in a row. I hope they will interview/hire their teachers with more detail and sense of urgency- it's all in how you handle things and "I'm sorry" without any explanation is laziness and ultimately asking to go out of business. read more

I teach guitar and have always purchased books for my students from Music and Arts at The Arboretum. I live across town (about a 20-25 minute drive) and the past five times I have gone in to buy a specific book, they were out of stock. I have used the same lesson plan book for years and asked if they could possibly keep a few in stock at all times. Every time they tell me "we can order it for you", I can do that from home...that doesn't help me. I don't like leaving negative reviews but there are only so many times you can be let down by the same business. I will be using somebody else in the future for my purchases and referring my students elsewhere. Disappointing.. read more

Not bad moderate selection of guitars, but seems to be hiding that they are owned by Guitar Center. The music instruction seems to be extremely varied in style, but all seem to be dedicated instructors. I would recommend speaking to the staff about how you learn and trying to find a good fit. read more

Fantastic little shop with outstanding customer service. I recently obtained a used violin and took it to Music & Arts Center. The staff was super helpful. They checked out my violin for free, showed me how to apply rosin to the bow, and recommended an inexpensive book to get me started. I'll definitely go back there for my musical needs. read more

I would put negative stars if I could!! I went into find yarn marimba mallets for my daughter who is required to have them for school. They didn't have the ones we wanted in the store so the gentleman working said they were in stock and could order them and have them sent to the store free. We ordered these June 2nd and was told they would be in, in 3-5 business days. The following Monday I hadn't heard anything so I called to check. Order wasn't in and was told that they would check the status and call me back. Hours go by and nobody called, so I called again and was told they would be in, in a couple of days. Here we are...2 weeks later and no call. So, I call again and was put on hold...for over 30 minutes!!! My husband calls on his line and reminded the gentleman that I was still on hold! Was told they would look up to see where order was and would receive a call back. 3 hours later, I called customer service to learn those mallets are on backorder!!!! Gentleman calls me back from store to say he would send me tracking info when he got it and that it was still in process, I cut him off and told him I already called customer service. I will be ordering my children's instrument accessories elsewhere once I finally get my Mallets. read more

This is the most disorganized store I've ever been to. They lose orders. They lose phone numbers. They forget the details of your rental. etc. etc. Unless you're buying something off the shelf, beware - it will probably take 2 or 3 trips to sort out all the messes. read more
