We found parking a couple of blocks away for free. Security was easy to get through. They have lawn seating or actual seats. Lots of beverage stations, also some food trucks. We had great seats right in front of the stage, but honestly there's not a bad seat here as it's not a huge venue. Ticket prices are kinda steep as are the alcohol beverages served up in a plastic cup. I guess that's the norm these days though. I paid $100 for 2 beers and 2 mixed drinks. Sound was really good for the concert, it ran on time and overall was a great show. Located at The Bowl in Ballantyne where there are plenty of eating and drinking places. Great venue!

At one time, my friend came from other state and left her driver license in the car at my home. She showed that she had a copy of ID, We are all beyond 50's, the security said she had to have the real driver license. Come on give us a break? We had to drive home to get it. Last night, I went there myself, not only this guard examined my driver's license to see if that's real, check my bag and even asked me to open my jacket that was just an pullover. What authorities did he had? That's an insult to a female. Should this place hire a female guard for female as well? Someone is wrong with those guys. Been to many nightclubs in Charlotte, this is the worst I've come across so far. We revisited this place on Saturday with some friends to see this cover band, The Camera Eye, for Rush...and they were so good, I think I'm now a Rush fan (like my husband has been for years). It was good to see that this place is still hopping. The place looked about the same (a bit worn down, of course), but many more bar chairs and tables than in the distant past. Think it's been at least 4 years since I've last been here? WOW. Although I haven't been here in a while, I've always loved this place. It's spacious with several levels...and has such a cool, comfy vibe. Also, the light show and the sound system is really good! I also thought the bar service was really quick. Despite the huge crowd, I got served right away! Not sure if they still do raves, dance parties and special shows like they did in the past, but I remember some of the best times here. Parking was a challenge because I didn't really understand where we could park. I originally parked in the lot across from the nearby hospital until a staff member told me they tow very regularly. The staff recommended parking in the lot directly across the street. I appreciated that while we were waiting in line a staff member did an ID check which made things smoother when doors opened. The Visulite theatre provides water for free and had a few tables and chairs which is a luxury I really appreciated. You're allowed to bring food into the venue and I saw quite a few people with Viva Chicken from next door. Seating is first come first served seating but my wife and I were able to find two seats. The ambiance is a cool vibe and my wife and I loved the disco ball in the middle of the theatre. The concert itself was very nice and I definitely feel like I got my money's worth. The staff was great and the other perks mentioned above is definitely enough for me to want to come back and see someone else in concert.

The place is a bit grungy and retro, but had a good, clean sound system. We saw the concert from the second floor, where they had these stools. Great view, but the backless stools were about as uncomfy as they could be! There was only 1 bar downstairs...but the bartender did a great job. I never had to wait more than a minute. Overall, this is a good, little band venue...and I'd love to drop at least 4 stars, but I felt that they needed a bit of renovation. Adding decent stools on the second floor, for starters?

I visited Spotlight to see a play that a friend was in last night. He is involved with the Black…read moreand White Theatre Company and they were using Spotlight's space for the four day run of "The Mousetrap" by Agatha Christie. The space is cozy, set up with folding chairs facing a single stage, but is nicely arranged, clean and well suited for a small community theater production. "In the daytime" this is a performing arts academy for lessons and the like, but they apparently partnered with Black and White to have space to perform and I am so glad they did! The negatives are few, but important...finding the location on a pretty busy road in Mint Hill is a bit of a challenge as it is nestled in a building with 2 other businesses and the sign is quite faded. Now that I have been there, I won't forget it to pull in at the pet supply store with the horse to park around back. The restrooms require a maze of turns from the performance area and felt a little like I needed a trail of breadcrumbs to find my way back! A friend mentioned her wheelchair bound mother would like to attend a performance, but we did not see a wheelchair ramp, though access may be available away from the front steps and we did not inquire about it this trip. Overall it was a great performance and I love to support community theater when I have the chance and appreciate Spotlight Academy teaming up with Black and White Theater Company for this performance!

Angela Gordon Mills should not be teaching. While she does have her bearable moments, and some…read moretalent, the verbal and physical abuse she puts some of her students through her should not be tolerated. I have seen her throw books at students, and yell at them relentlessly. She expects her older students to act like adults even if they are legal minors, and berates them when they do not act accordingly. Her employees, her are the same way. One employee, whom I will not name, bullied one of their students into a mental breakdown. While I have had good memories here, the only reason why I stayed was the friends I had, (and to be brutally honest), to build up my repertoire. Angela and her staff her so obviously precast and typecast shows, and cast the same people repeatedly as leads. If you are not in her good graces her, the chances are you will probably not get a lead role. Also, she showed up drunk to a rehearsal. If you are looking for a "theatre" in which you have to walk on eggshells in, and employees who care not for the mental, physical and emotional well-being of their students, this is the place for you! Majority of the positive reviews posted are from students who have not seen Angela's true, wretched nature; and parents who do not understand the atrocities that occur behind Spotlight Performing Arts Academy.

I got lucky with getting a floor ticket for the Logic concert back in early June. Finding a spot in the lower right-side of the stage, I was pleased with the view of the stage and the performances which included Juicy J performing before the main act himself, Bobby Tarrantino aka Logic. The energetic crowd added to the festive evening; people mostly were well-behaved. If they weren't, security got involved quick which a lot of us were thankful for. Support your local security guards people! To arrive, I decided to walk from my hotel which is about a mile and a half and located in the downtown Charlotte area. Fortunately I was able to cut through the cemetery which took me to music factory blvd. After walking another couple of blocks, you're in the music factory section which includes several concert venues, some restaurants/bars, and a parking lot. Interesting concept in having multiple venues within the same vicinity. The amphitheater is on the eastern side and easily recognizable which made getting in and out pretty easy. I don't recommend driving here as there is traffic jams when trying to leave. Best to either leave on foot or hang out at one of the restaurants/bars until the commotion dies down. Logic put on a show and look forward to catching him again. Maybe back here again!
