I've been here a couple of times. I finally decided that I wanted to take music lessons. The people were extremely helpful and I was able to sign up for weekly music lessons. Needless to say I didnt get to get the full experience. I had a total of two lessons. The first lesson was okay, but the instructor was needed so he would just come around and tell me to adjust my fingers. The second lesson I attended I would have to say didnt go so well. It was a group of four of us and the others played on their phone and the instructor was easily distracted. The lessons I had kept getting rescheduled. The last lesson that I had set up was rescheduled a couple of times. I made it in to find that the instructor would be late, that was okay except that I waited about 15-20 minutes. While waiting the phone rang and the customer was requesting to change her card that was on file for automatic payments, I know this because the associates were mocking the customer. At that point I was fed up, I no longer wanted to do business with a company that would openly mock their customers, what if that was me. I'm sad because at the end of the day I enjoyed my lessons, but the mocking of customers and the rescheduling is not a good look. read more

Still charging monthly rent for a instrument I turned in months ago. Claiming I owe a past due amount and can not apply it to the purchase price of the instrument. Big box music store with a home town feel. If you're a "regular," they start greeting you by name. They will also re-string your instruments for you: at least violins and guitars, as those are the two I've had them fix for me. M&A offers all sorts of music instruments and, if you're so inclined, will teach you how to play them for a fee. Always a good experience at this M&A. read more

This place is good for Junior High & High School kids to get their music lessons and other items for playing in the school band / orchestra. Outside of that particular market, you are better of going over to Guitar Center for a much better experience. I have visited this store on several occasions, and the only time I have received any type of customer service was from a gentlemen in his late 30s to mid 40s who was working the cash register. He was very helpful, but the younger people working there, are not educated on the products, and couldn't even find the price on a stool. After using my cell phone I was able to show them the price that they wasted over 10 minutes "trying to find". read more

Bought some guitar strings here recently. Yeah, I could have gotten them cheaper online, but I don't mind spending a couple extra dollars for them here. When I went there was a few students practicing violin on the sidewalk, which was kinda cool to see. They don't have a huge selection and seem to focus more on stringed and brass/woodwind instrument rentals and lessons. I would give 5 stars, but I can't say it was a smooth transaction at the register. I had to wait about 5 minutes for the guy behind the register to stop doing some task on the computer, that was obviously more important (to him), to change his focus to ring up a customer. I wasn't being impatient and gave several polite hints that I wanted to make my purchase and leave. Maybe I shouldn't have been so subtle. read more

I had promised my 15 year-old that I would pick up new guitar strings while he was at work today, as he needed to replace some strings before tomorrow's church service. After stopping by the nearest music store in Hickory to find it closed, I drove out to Greenbrier area in desperation. As I walked up to Music and Arts, I found the lights in store to be off. The sign on the door indicated that they close at 6 pm Saturday; my phone showed 6:05. I pulled the door anyway in frantic desperation! A kind face came to the door to ask if I had a specific need; " Yes, I need guitar strings for my son to play in church tomorrow!" This sweet angel allowed me in, and quickly obtained the proper strings for me, and very kindly escorted me to the door. I called Music and Arts yesterday morning because the sound post on my violin broke loose and I was supposed to practice with a friend later in the day. I was expecting them to say that I would need to send it to a repair shop, but Kenny(I think that was his name) said "oh that's easy, bring it on in!" I was so happy with the customer service at this location. I have visited 2 other Music and Arts location, but Greenbrier is the best by far! Will definitely make the extra drive to visit this location in the future. Violin is good as new and only cost $10!! Can't beat that! read more

I don't play an instrument and really don't know a lot about music. I've been renting a saxophone from them for over a year now for my daughter's middle school band. We bring it in every couple of months to have them look at it. She recently started taking voice lessons, as well. My son started taking guitar lessons there this month and we bought a guitar for him. The sales associate made suggestions on what we needed and what we didn't need. They offer a military discount on materials purchased in the store, but not on rentals. I've been very happy with all of our visits to this location. read more

This particular store itself is not bad, however if you have to deal with their corporate customer service, they are awful. Their instrument rentals are way overpriced. They wanted to charge $30 a month for a violin rental. I found one on Amazon for less than $100 total. I called customer service to try to get a refund of the deposit for the contract that we entered into within 2 days and was told that any contract changes had to be made within 24hours, although it did not state this anywhere on the receipt or the contract. After I asked to speak with a supervisor, the rep hung up on me. I called back and got another rep who gave me the extension to a supervisor, which I called and left a message and my message was never returned. All of this was after we have taken probably over $1000 worth of guitar lessons over the years. Will not do business with this company again. read more

Well, I was gonna give one star cause customer service is terrible. I went in to buy patch cabled and decided to look at there guitars. I found one pretty close to what u have been looking for that was clearance for a pretty good deal which I was thrilled about cause I have never found a good deal at this store. Then I told the salesmen if u can bring not down to 550 I will take it right now. So he proceeded to call his manager. He gets off the phone and says he can take 10 percent off. Puts it in the computer. I am about to swipe my card and another manager comes over and tells him he can't do what he is about to do. That the other manager just called him back. 5 MORE SECS AND I WOULD HAVE SWIPED WITH 60 BUCKS OFF. And now she won't give me anything off. I still bought the guitar because it was at a good price to begin with but if I am about to swipe, at that moment, nothing should change. 60 bucks is a lot of money to be put back on once u have been told the guy can take it off. Then she said can we throw in strings or something like that, so I was like sure I use elixirs and she gets him to start going through demo used packs of crap string that aren't even full sets. So I stopped him and just walked out with my new guitar that was 60 bucks more than it should have been. I would not recommend this place to anyone for buying anything. I never would have before. And I def wouldn't now. read more

The store itself was fine- but did not have what I needed. They ordered what I needed online for me- 2 weeks ago. Got a broken violin in the mail 4 days later. Then- NOTHING. I have been contacting the company every day, my order is "processing" but no one has any clue where my violin is, or when it will be shipped or anything else. Meanwhile, my son is using an old half size (he needs a full) and they have hundreds of my dollars. Never again- when I manage to get my money back (I want nothing to do with this company at this point) I will gladly take it and pay more elsewhere. Customer service is deplorable. read more

I am new to the area and decided to look for a music store to meet my needs. My first visit to the store was normal and everything seemed good. I purchased a set of strings for my acoustic guitar and did a little more shopping. I came home to install the strings and one broke right away. I returned to the store and told Kenneth Prochazka what had happened. He handed me a new set of strings without any questions. I liked how he did business and have also been in the market to purchase a new guitar. Since he handled the string situation like he did I decided to purchase my new guitar at this store. The deal and customer service that was provided was out of this world. I came a few days later to pick up my new guitar. I came home with the instrument and checked it out. I wasn't happy with it and called Kenneth. Once again without any questions he ordered me a brand new guitar strait from the manufacturing company and had it delivered to the store. Kenneth promptly called me when it arrived and I went down to pick it up. Once I got to the store everyone was friendly and professional and I was handed the brand new guitar once again without any questions. I brought it home and the instrument was everything I dreamed of. Thank you Kenneth and all of your helpful staff. I will not take my business any where but to you and your staff. Very professional and you have a customer for life. read more
