I went in to get a viola rental on 5/27. We paid and everything. They didnt have the size viola i needed so they said to come back monday and they would have it. So we called them on the next monday and tbey didnt have it. So we waited. And waited. And after three weeks there was nothing. This is just disappointing. Wouldnt recommended using this place for rentals. read more

They have major issues with repair services and admiting/taking responsibility when their repair services have done the wrong thing. I realize they outsource repairs but they need to take responsibility when it goes wrong. The first incident was an instrument I asked for only a quote because no one was even playing the instrument. The person who took the instrument wrote on the repair request "Provide quote before repairing". Nevertheless, they repaired it without my consent and tried to charge me $250. I refused to pay that and they allowed me to pay the shop minimum which was I think $150 at the time, maybe $180. Amazingly, I continuted to give them my business... But then this year we've been in to repair an instrument 3 times (not the same one as the previous incident). The first time we did a complete overhaul, replacing pads and parts, etc. But then a few months later, we took it in for a leak and it somehow needed new pads again??? Then a few months later, it had a wiggly key... They sent a quote to replace MORE PADS. So I asked to verify that they indeed fixed the wiggly key and was assured that yes, the key was being fixed also. Go to pick up the instrument and it's not fixed, but the manager says "it's in working condition and that's what you asked for". Indeed, not what I asked for, I was quite specific at the drop off as well as the follow up email that the wiggly key needed to be fixed. I understand if you're unable to fix it but don't charge me for things I didn't ask for. Since this has happened so many times now, I feel their repair service is up-charging, replacing things that are not asked for, etc, to get more money from people. read more

Three to five day shipping is a joke... It will take that long just to process the order. Don't bother calling their so called "customer service" because my experience on a bunch of calls seemed to be talking to someone they pulled off the street to take calls. On hold forever just to provide a "I don't know" answer. Trying to cancel an order is just as much a joke since your item shows shipped and can't be cancelled yet the carrier doesn't even have the item yet. I was given bogus tracking numbers just so they could get rid of me. Take your money, hold it until you can finally get a refund. Sounds like customers are just loaning their company interest free funds to operate with. It's amazing companies like this can't understand why Amazon is eating their lunch! read more

I've been renting an instrument from this store for my grand daughter for band. My grand daughters both took lessons here as well. We've been using them for several years and they always come through. I even had an old clarinet that has been handed down from my mother, to me, to my daughter and then my granddaughter repaired at a reasonable rate....the instrument came back like new....highly recommend this store.... read more

I took my instrument here for a repair. I was told I'd get the estimate the next day but got it in two days. That's not a biggy and I'm AOK with that. I didn't ask enough questions and found out they don't do the repair and sent it out to someone else to repair. They had my instrument for 21 days. In that time I found out I could just send my instrument out for repair myself and the prices vary from $70-$140. (plus shipping) They charged me $225.00 I also use reeds and they sell the Ricco Reserve Reeds for $29.00 and that is fair but I found them myself on the internet for only $17.95 including shipping. They also don't carry my Eb reeds but they can order them. I told them not to bother I just ordered them myself. I saw they have many rooms with people practicing and it was terribly noisy the rooms don't seem soundproofed and it wasn't music to my ears. A little beat here or maybe it blows? read more

This was the BEST possible experience we ever could have had for our 10yr old son! He starts band next year and was unsure what instrument he wanted to start learning. I didn't rent anything from this place but I purchased and this is based on that. The service was very good, person at register helped us, we had a paper from the school which stated that the price would be lower than what they had it for and she honored that paper. She gave me the cheaper price and also advise of their coupons they send out. I thought that was cool because who wouldn't want to save money. Great place read more

Both my kids have taken music lessons at Music & Arts for several years. Each one of their instructors have been very talented musicians that have connected and invested in my kids. As a direct result they have progressed significantly in their skill set, as well as their love for music and the learning process. This is a quote from my daughter who is currently taking clarinet lessons from Armando Salas, "Armando is a great lesson teacher and has taught me so much over the time I've taken lessons with him. He is very encouraging and honest on areas to improve upon. He gives helpful tips and understands different types of learners." Although my son no longer takes lessons, I would also highly recommend his instructor, Randy Heins, for guitar lessons. My daughter is growing so fast! Today was her first drum lesson! This place seems really busy kids pouring in and out. A very nice space the staff was very helpful. They have a really nice selection of instruments including mini Fender's that were so cute. They have amps, string's, books, and pretty much anything else you'd need. They have a lot of teacher's here they teach it all 7 days a week. I may just sign up for those vocal lessons I've been wanting to do. Too bad I'm way passed the age cut off for American Idol. Oh and for dad's they had the depressing Cardinal's game on over the radio. It was painful to listen to I'm glad that I couldn't watch it! read more

HORRIBLE. Now I'm usually pretty cool with my reviews.Giving great and happy reviews but this places honestly cheated us.And I feel sad that I'm going to be one of the only ones to actually expressed the old "Music And Arts".You see, back then,it was amazing!People where all around the store and being REAL nice with REAL customer support.Now,I see hardly anyone!ANYONE!And when I went to repair my saxophone,the owner of the store just said "Uhh,yeah....(20 minutes later) uhh...I don't see anything wrong"..Um..Okay?You mean you can't play it and see or send it in town?I mean,seriously!Also,for a lot of people it's inconvenient.Also with a 40-80 dollar just for rent add another 5-10 for warranty!In 6 months I can by my one student version!Also,There used to be like 8 private-lesson"ers".now there is like 3. Renter beware! I rented a flute for my daughter for over 2 years and paid the extra insurance cost in the event the flute was lost or damage. Unfortunately, the flute was stolen from the school band room and even with a police report, nothing was covered. I contacted the company about the payments and they were nice over the phone, but the gentlemen who makes the decision to provide assistance with the matter informed me (through the operator, you will never speak with him) that the police report had no bearing. I was told I would receive a settlement agreement in a letter and while I asked they email it to me....I received nothing. Now they have put me in collections. I will never rent an instrument or use any services from this company again. They take your money quickly enough, but for nothing in return. read more

We brought our daughters clarinet here for service. It was missing a tiny screw that we could not find anywhere. The salesperson was going to send it out for service. The manager came over and asked to see the clarinet. He was able to find the exact screw the instrument needed. He refused to charge us for the part or his time. We purchased some reeds to help support his business. He won our business. The turnaround time on the service was a week. He fixed it in 10 minutes. When we upgrade our daughters clarinet this is the place where we will buy it from. read more

I returned my son's instrament within 24 hrs of renting it. Gary (store manager) told me I would get refund. It's been 2 months and they keep telling me that corporate hasn't got back to them yet. This company's deceiving trick is to tell customer you can use the rental credits towards the new instruments purchase. But they set up so many restrictions(BTW:this part is intentional not explained to customers clearly up front) that it is impossible to apply the rental credits to a new purchase. And their price is higher than the others. Their store employees are poorly trained, or they are trained to play dumb. They don't honor what they told you on the phone at store.Their cooperate employees are rude. Overall, very bad experience at both store and cooperate level. Bad business practice! We probably would still rent from them knowing ahead of time that we may NOT able to use any of the rental credits. Now we just feel being deceived. read more

I have had the worst experience renting from this store. The customer service at the store and the corporate office is awful, slow, and not responsive. The rental contracts are confusing, frustrating and limiting in terms of what rental credit can be used for. Bad business model. read more

First guy that helped me had the excuse that he just started 2 weeks ago, 2nd guy had to get an older co-worker to clarify what I could use a store credit fir and what I couldn't and then there was a call out to the owner I assume to re-confirm that I could actually purchase the entry level trumpet on display using a store credit...owner didn't answer so the 2nd guy said 'I guess you cant use the credit' so they failed to make the sale happen due to 'store policy' no one could confirm. Turns out I would have to pay the higher msrp price to buy something using store credit vs. the sales price on display...not satisfied and not happy. I will not be back here. read more

I returned my son's instrument before a certain date so I wouldn't be charged for another month, per their instruction. But they did charge me and when I called I was told the store didn't record the return in the system in time. The lady on the phone told me I would get refund in two weeks. Three weeks later I called about the refund and was told my case has not been reviewed. The man on the phone said the review could happen any day but I insist to have a specific timetable. Finally he said maybe in 30 days!! I guess they just hoped I forgot to check so they didn't need to refund. The most unpleasant experience I have ever had with a company of this size. We were recommended by the high school band teacher. We rented a viola from here and the rosin she received with the viola was unusable. I explained my situation to Dave the Manager and he supplied us with new rosin. I did not have my receipt or old rosin as we were in the area running other errands and stopped by the store. I'm a band director so I want to recommend a music store with good quality instruments that work so kids can learn. So many stores in the area rent out old instruments that don't play well if at all. The other stores may have rentals for a bit cheaper but the instrument needs to work and be able to handle the novice player to be worth it. I wish they had a location in the west valley. I gave them four out of five stars because their repairs are expensive and take quite a while. Otherwise they do a great job for me and my students. read more

My daughter and I both take vocal lessons here. Selin our vocal coach is fantastic and really continues to impress me with her knowledge of music. The customer service I have received from the employees is great. They are helpful and very willing to help. The atmosphere is nice and fun. Music&Arts rents instruments to people. I rented drum set in 2015. I was deciding between renting and buying. Could buy decent (used) set for about $150-$220. However decided to rent one because I was told that I could own it once I pay enough installments. After paying $400 in installments I was told that I can not stop the lease and keep the instrument, I can only get "store credit" for $320.00. OK after 3 times on the phone with them, 2 visits to the associated place, that I got the instrument from, I was sent to their main place in Glendale, AZ. Guess what? At the place it turned out that I can own the instrument and stop the lease! People do me a favor, do not lease hoping that you will own it after some time. Just buy something used or new and do not even bother, it will cost you 2 times more, and lots of frustration. Definitely not worth it!! read more
