It's been about a year and a half since we were last here and I stopped in with my kid as they've been talking about wanting a new acoustic guitar. They looked at the selection and tried out two of them. We went back and forth a bit and they finally decided on which one they liked best. They got an Alvarez acoustic electric that has a beautiful deep sound. We also picked them up a nice hard case while we were there. We spent a bit of time talking to a couple of the employees about instruments and who played what. I really like this place as they are very friendly and knowledgeable about the products that they sell. Definitely worth checking out. read more

The store clerk is very helpful on the customer when they walk in. This store has a few lessons rooms for people who like their music lesson. The store is not big but it has all the basic thing for the music instruments. We were here to find the bass guitar string for the electrical guitar. If you bring the guitar, they can change it for you in the store. They sell the classical guitar and electrical guitar. These guitars are more to beginning to intermediate level. As a result, they are more in the affordable. I would said if you are beginner, come to here to get your introduction guitar. The apple map is correct per the routing instructions. Other than the guitar section, they also have saxophone, trumpet, clarinet, violin, viola, cello. The music score also available. read more

I preface this review by fully admitting I know nothing about music. I can't even read it yet. So please, take this into consideration when reading this review. I stopped in here today for the first time just to check it out. I usually go next door to the comic book place, but had been considering learning how to play the guitar and finally decided to stop in. a friend of mine that offered to permanently loan me a guitar, but I still wanted to stop in and see what the options were, and the price points. I was greeted right away by Chris, who took all the time I needed to talk to me about the different choices and types of guitars. he plays the bass himself, so he is familiar with guitars and can make recommendations for you based on your skill level. based on the type of music I want to play, he was able to narrow down a list of 20 guitars to about 2 or 3 and that would be right for me. He talked about the different price points and values, why one was better than another, and made sure I knew about the specials. (This week, it's a free amp with purchase of certain guitars.) Everything in here is piecemeal. Guitars, cables, amps, cases, and everything else you could need are all available, but separate. If guitar isn't your thing, they had ukuleles, violins, drums, various wind instruments, and the accessories you would need for any of them. I'm pretty sure they had some other instruments too, but I didn't catch everything At a glance. They also have a decent supply of music books available. They have several instructors for people who want lessons. according to Chris, they all either hold degrees in music, or have 20 or more years of experience instructing. Based on the instructor, the prices for lessons range from $23 to about $30 per half hour of instruction. The available hours vary, but generally speaking, lessons can be scheduled any time from 2:30 until close during the weekday, and from open to close on the weekends. Now let's talk price. For the electric guitars, the prices seem to range for about $179 up to about three or four hundred dollars. For the acoustic guitars, the starting price point was about $150, and went up from there. That sounds expensive, but I had been looking heavily at similar models on Amazon, and prices are actually quite similar. Even better, in the store you get to feel the actual size and weight of the guitar, and see what feels right for you. This is something you simply can't do when you're buying something online and hoping it is a good match. By the time you factoring sale prices and the personal touch you go to the store, it might actually be a better deal just to go in rather than ordering things online. All in all this was a great little store, and Chris was fantastic. If you're in the market for musical instruments, I highly recommend you stop in and talk to him. read more

Fantastic customer service! Everyone we dealt with were very helpful, going above and beyond to help us when our son was ready for a trumpet upgrade. Chris followed up with me after we had been in to the store and weren't quite sure what exactly we were going to do about getting a trumpet. He put in lots of time and effort to show us all the options and payment plans and was patient in helping us find what worked best for our family. When we came back in to purchase, Chris was off that day and Alayna helped us. She also did an awesome job! Very friendly and apologetic for us having to wait as they were extremely busy that day due to the new school year starting. We really only waited 10 minutes in spite of a few customers being ahead of us. We received a discount on our purchase and then not even 10 days later, my son left his brand new expensive trumpet out on the marching band field and someone accidentally trampled it!! My husband brought the instrument in and since we had purchased it so recently, they replaced it with a brand new one at no extra charge! Thank you, Manager Billy! We came here before buying the new instrument with my son's old trumpet that needed a minor repair and they fixed it up real good too and if I remember, it was little if any charge. My son is in band and has been renting a saxophone from Music & Arts for the past 2 years. Initially we were told to come here to get the instrument and pay approx $50 per month for the rental. We were told that this money would go towards the upgrade of a new instrument. Good deal right? Wrong...2 years later, approx $1200 in, I was told that we had to pay an additional 2K for a step up instrument. Is that really worth it? I would say if your child is unsure of what instrument they want to play..then yes. But if you know that you want to play a particular instrument, I would recommend buying your own. Well that is what we did. After purchasing a used instrument, we had it serviced by Music & Arts. They did a good job fixing it up, and gave us a fair price. My problem is that they tried to up sell all of their accessories, even after we told them we did not need them. They are also priced more than getting them online. The other thing I was told was that our "starter" Bundy saxophone was better than the Yamaha that we purchased....seriously? They recommended the same model that I just purchased the week before..... I would just urge people to be cautious and do your homework before shopping here. read more

I love this place Gee is a great dude he always helps me with anything I need and Bill as well I don't know what all the fuss is and ppl complaining about them seriously it's ridiculous they don't over charge you with anything if something breaks in the store that you purchased they fix it free and oh my the girl that works there she's a delight I didn't get mad at her cause something broke off my bass she said she's so sorry I said no worries it can be fixed it was an oopsydaisy it happens I'm not like any person who will fuss over it and my bass is getting fixed free of charge and wow I mean everyone there is awesome love you guys read more

We have been coming to this particular location for about a year now. The staff is always friendly, and they have a great assortment of merchandise and lessons. We come for the violin lessons which I find to be affordable. We also rent the violin from here at a surprisingly cheap rate. This is a great value for someone who wants to take some lessons, or enroll their children for lessons, they have teachers who love to work with children and it shows. They are horrible at this store. Music and Arts has gone down the drain in the past two years. I have been doing business with them for more than 5 years, bought several instruments for my children however in the past two years they have had heavy turn over at this location and their service is awful. I called two days ago and asked about a buy out for my current rental, I asked to speak with a manager because I have done this before with other rentals. The person who answered said he could help me, I don't need a manager. So I had a very long conversation with him about a buy out and about upgrading. He gave me all the information and I opted for using the credit we have and pay the difference and picked the clarinet I would pick up. He went to register to ring me up, incorporated the credit and gave me a total that would need to be paid when I brought back the current clarinet and pick up the new clarinet. He said he was putting my name on it, the sales receipt and leaving in the back for me. My husband showed up the next day to pick up the clarinet, and asked for the person by name as he instructed us to do, however he was not there as promised, we then found out he was fired earlier that day. The manager rung up the sale and tried to charge us $700 more than what was quoted, after a long time of going back and forth and close to 3 hours of time wasted he offered to give us a 20% discount the clarinet would still be more than we were quoted but we agreed to the sale and the new price with tax included. Then he could not figure out how to ring up the sale...he actually spent another hour calling, other stores and venting his frustration about the company and after more than 3 hours of my husband's time wasted we never got our clarinet and this company is still charging us. Families please do not use music and arts for your rentals or sales, they are not training their employees and once your credit card is on file they will keep charging you. I'm a guitar teacher. I ordered a bunch of guitars for my students. Things were fine until three months later... The A string on 12 guitars snapped within six months of purchase. Now, I don't mind budgeting for replacement strings, but I thought my situation a little unusual. I reached out to music and arts three or four times. Each time I explained and each time they told me this was normal... And each time I said it doesn't seem normal for the same string to snap on all those guitars. Someone was supposed to come out twice... Never happened. Called a few times, left messages, assured of a response... And none yet. The issue is still unresolved months later. I have a payment plan with this company for my son's instrument. I get paid every other Friday and have asked them nicely to deduct money from my bank account in the weeks I get paid. Money was deducted on my account on 11/12/14. As a single mom I struggle to make ends meet. They have now caused a $35.00 overdraft fee that will come out of my grocery money. I am very livid and will be contacting their horrible customer service once again. These people are very unorganized and I will report this to the Better Business Bureau if this is not resolved on 11/14/2014! read more

These people are crooks. We rented (a rent-to-own process) a violin through their school music program. They told us we were paid in full, then a few months later the debt collectors started calling. We got back in touch and again, were told we were paid in full. The calls are still coming. It has been THREE YEARS now. We even offered to give them back the instrument; they won't take it. I love my children's school but wish they could see what a bunch of jerks they are doing business with. I will never ever ever use Music and Arts again, under any circumstances. read more

I have a ukulele. I was told that any decent music store should be able to put on a strap. It's just two drill holes. I asked the guy behind the counter if he could put on a strap. He thought he was being cute and clever and said, "Me? No, I don't feel comfortable doing that, but our technician might." Then the other gentleman working said that the technician only worked on brass and woodwind instruments and wouldn't do the strap. They told me they could sent off my ukulele for repairs. I don't get it. They sell guitars there. They say that they do repairs. I just needed two holes drilled. Guess they aren't a decent music shop. Guitar Center was more than willing to do it. Oh, I also went in earlier in the month to ask about ukulele pics. The guy working there had no clue and said if they did, they'd be with the other pics. 1. The shop is not big. He should know his stock. 2. He didn't even come over to help us. We had to find where the guitar pics were and look ourselves. We have been trying to return an instrument for several months. We had left it with the school music teacher as per MUSIC & ARTS had recommended. It has been at the school since the start of the school year, the end of August. Music & Arts have yet to pick it up. I have been back and forth to make sure this instrument has been picked up and here we are in December and they have not done so. I've been calling them monthly to make sure of this. The last I talked to them was last month and they were e-mailing the school teacher about this. Now, all of a sudden I get a phone call stating that they are going to charge me for the instrument since I never returned it!!! I must say, very unprofessional group. (the girl I was talking too was very rude and was trying to change my words around).They should have called and told me and talked to me civilly, that they were unable to get the instrument, so I could have call and talked to the school teacher earlier. If they had been in contact with me instead of letting this go on like this their wouldn't be a problem. I will never rent an instrument from here again and will tell every one I know to do the same. read more
