They run a cartel here. They will send you a letter/email with an offer to enjoy free summer if you pay by June end. Once you pay and send them everything by mail, they will start charging your credit card and even add late fee claiming they never got your renewal form by the deadline. We rented a violin for our daughter in the fall of 2022 and used it for a single school year, returning it in the spring of 2023. Since then, we have been charged over and over and over, despite repeated requests that they cancel the recurring payments and issue a refund. We've paid them hundreds of dollars over a year and a half for an instrument we no longer even have. It is infuriating and we've been unable to connect with anyone who will listen or help. I strongly encourage you to choose a different vendor for your kids' band needs. read more

I don't frequent music stores all that often except to buy new guitar strings, and have them put on. Yes, I could do it myself, but I don't....so shoot me...Anyway, today, I went to buy my yearly strings, and the guy put on the strings, was pleasant and natural, and I got a chance to check out the store and look at some new guitars. It appears all kinds of music lessons are given in this center, as smiling folk with an array of instruments, exited as I browsed the instruments and sheet music. read more

My son has been taking guitar lessons at this location for over five years. We both adore his instructor, Matt....couldn't have found a better match. He must be good, because my son doesn't always have time to practice and yet he can play fairly well. We have purchased an acoustic guitar, a really cool green electric guitar and other accessories for the guitar. The employees and his instructor were very helpful and knowledgeable. They have everything...from instruments to music sheets to every little odd and end needed for your musical instrument pleasure. We love this place and the people in it. read more

went in to rent a clarinet for my daughter, (there was even a friendly young man who gave an introductary showcase,who gives lessons on playing the clarinet.) I also left knowing I'm going back to finally learn to play my (so far) decorative guitar. felt like I was visiting my buddies home. What a nightmare! Visited the store looking for an acoustic nylon string guitar. The salesperson was nice and helped to find one. I asked if they had it in 3/4 size. The salesman (or perhaps he was the manager) looked it up and told me there was one in stock at the Ellicott City store. He said he could have it transferred in a few days, and would notify me when it came it. I paid for it, in full, by credit card. About a week and a half later, hearing nothing, I called and was told by the store manager that the guitar was being "manufactured for me at the Yamaha factory" and I would received it in about a month. He, of course, should have said it was on backorder. I asked about the one he said was in stock at another store, and he could not tell me what happened. So, I told him to cancel the order; I didn't want to wait a month. Four days later, I received an email from their sales office saying the guitar was or backorder and I would have sometime in the next month. So...figuring I would get no help from the store, I called their customer serice number. I called at 8:30 am, and was connected by 9:10 am. The representative told me he would cancel the order. I pressed him for when that would happen, and he got angry and told me "I don't work for Yamaha, so I can't tell you." Great customer service. I did, however, get confirmation of the order cancellation in a few days. I wrote a few emails to their corporate offices, and received a call from the district sales manager, who tried to placate me by offering a trial rental, an alternate model, etc, and I had to tell him I had cancelled the order. That didn't stop him though; he kept on trying. I said I couldn't possibly order from this store since they appeared to have flaws in their inventory system. He then said, "yes we have flaws in our system." I asked him why I should buy anything from his store, if there were flaws in their system, as he had just admitted to me. Again, he had no answer. Somethihg is really wrong here.....I suggest looking elsewhere for your musical needs. read more

My child took lessons here for years with one teacher who was great. They switched to a new teacher when they switched instruments and that teacher was unprofessional and I will never go here again for lessons. I would not recommend Sarah to teach piano to anyone. My child is now going to take lessons elsewhere. Sarah decided to terminate lessons without talking to us first even though she happily accepted payments from us. Rather than talk to us herself, she had the store manager call and break the news. The whole situation was unprofessional and rude. This woman does not know how to work with children and forget it if you child is a bit different. That makes her "uncomfortable" While the teachers are contractors, Music and Arts should take some action to prevent their customers from being treated unfairly and without compassion. read more

I love this place. They offer lessons for guitar, piano, cello etc. You can rent your instrument here & if you decide to make a purchase your rental credits go toward the purchase price of the instrument. The employees are knowledgeable & helpful. read more

My daughter had a flute we rented from this company. She goes to Ridgely Middle School. They told us that we were now done with our rental obligation and to come in and get a lower quality flute for free. Well when something sounds too good to be true . . . Of course that was a complete lie. The sales person she was with tonight told my wife that they would apply the "credit" from the rental to the MSRP of the new flute. There wasn't an option of renting any longer. BAIT and SWITCH!!!!!!!!! Shame on this store!!!!!!! Of course they deserve zero stars!!!!!! But at least the flute works. read more
