The watch I brought in has become sort of an heirloom. It belonged to my maternal uncle, and since he has no children, I was given the watch when he passed away in 2020. Long took a look at it and was able to replace the battery on the spot. I waited maybe 5 minutes, so that transaction was quick and easy. I dealt with 2 employees that day, and both of them were kind, courteous, helpful and 100% professional. That was enough for me to bring in my necklace later on for repair. My necklace was a birthday gift from my mom years ago, but the latch broke, so I wasn't able to wear it without it falling off. The latch broke about a year ago, so I obviously wasn't in a rush to get it fixed. But as I mentioned earlier, Long took care of my watch, so I figured they could fix this. In this situation, the latch was kind of a loss - it would cost more to repair it than replace it. They were able to find an exact duplicate latch for the necklace, and after asking my permission to replace it, they had the necklace ready for me in roughly 2 business days. They called me to let me know it was ready. When I came in, they had me inspect the necklace to confirm I was satisfied, and I paid for that service afterwards. I dealt with a different employee for this transaction, but she was also kind, courteous and professional. I felt like everyone I've encountered at this Long Jewelers location was excellent. After I paid him nearly $200 when I picked it up, the watch wasn't fixed. I took it back a second time and he couldn't fix it. I eventually sent the watch back to Seiko and they replaced it. I was also suckered into allowing him work on a Longines quartz. Oh, I can fix it. The ran for about five months. He didn't fix it. I would never go back to him.

I was upfront that I wanted to trade it in toward a new ring for my fiancée and even mentioned I had a 1 kg silver bar to bundle. They offered me $500 for the entire ring. When I pushed back (politely at first), they blamed the J color and some inclusions -- the same stone that was good enough for a $5,860 retail appraisal just a few years ago. $500 is not even close to fair market value for a certified 1.20ct natural diamond in a 14k two-tone setting. I walked away immediately. I understand businesses need margin, but this felt like a pure lowball tactic. If you're thinking of selling or trading jewelry here, be prepared to get insulted on value. The selection in the store looked decent, but after this experience I won't be back and can't recommend them for buying or selling.
