The Music Barn is possibly the best music store in the Triad area. It's a locally run business and has a knowledgeable staff with an easy-going attitude. They have plenty of other instruments and accessories also. I wanted to write a review because over 10 years ago, I spent a lot of money there and they matched prices for me more than once at a time when other places wouldn't. I wanted a deal and they were cool to work with me and treated me with respect and good customer service. They have a large selection both there and off-site, so if you ask them, they can tell you more about their stock. i always tell people in NC about this place. read more

This is a great music store. The staff is knowledgable and helpful. In terms of stringed instruments, they have a comprehensive selection. The instruction offered is top shelf. Their instrument service was quick and reasonably priced as far as I am concerned. A real keeper of a store staffed by musicians. A real departure from the 'big box' stores which are becoming all too common. read more

Would not recommend for guitar repairs. I've taken two guitars here and had a bad experience on both occasions. The first guitar I had just bought and wanted to have it set up. I ask them to adjust the action and intonate the guitar as it sounded pretty bad. I dropped it off and picked it up about a week later. The action was slightly better and the intonation was still way off, I'm assuming they didn't really do anything. I ended up having to bring it to Music Loft to have it worked on and now it sounds and plays great. My second guitar had a pick-up that wasn't working in the bridge position. I took it to Music Barn for repair. They told me the pick-up was broken and that I would have to contact the pick-up company to see if they would be willing to replace. I didn't really believe this so I took it home, took off the back cover so that I could look at the wiring and noticed that the wire going to the switch was disconnected. I took it somewhere else and had the wiring fixed. On both occasions I feel like they didn't really even take a look at my guitars and just charged me for nothing basically. read more

Was in the market for an acoustic and Russ spent a ton of time with me and gave me a lot of great info. I didn't buy that day...and went home and checked out a lot of what he told me online. Found that he was completely honest. Took me several months, but I went back and bought a Taylor GS Mini bc of how I was initially treated. Good job, Music Barn. read more

I went to the Music barn for the first time today. I had a great experience. They actually had the not-very-common instrument I went in specifically looking for. I went to 4 other music stores this morning with no luck. The store itself was very nice and had an antique atmosphere. They had tons of stuff. The guys were very helpful and courteous. Don't understand how they stay in business. I lived in Greensboro in early 90s, moved away and came back in 2015. It's like nothing changed inside the store. I know they have several guys that teach, and they are supposed to be a pretty good place if you are shopping for bluegrass/string band instruments (Martin and Gibson acoustics, banjos, fiddles, etc.) but they don't have a lot of used electrics selection, and they prices a lot of stuff is just way over market. They do carry G&L, which is a great brand. read more

The music barn has been in bad shape the last view years but they are really improving and remodeling they have a good selection and good teachers for all ages for tons of instruments but the best part of the music has to be the drum teacher Frank Purytle the guy is amazing good at drums read more

I was looking for instructions on harmonicas and at first went to another store. They directed me to Music Barn and I believe I spoke to Russ. He was able to find several books on harmonicas. I asked multiple questions about different topics and he was knowledgeable and friendly. All-in-all, a great experience and I would definitely go back again. read more

AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! I was in town over thanksgiving weekend and went to visit the music barn because of their large selection of Martin guitars. I was looking to purchase my first Martin and was excited to be able to get my hands on and play multiple different models. Since the moment I walked in the door, the staff went out of their way to make sure I had anything that I needed and all the instruments were accessible, even going so far as to change the strings on multiple guitars for me to come back and play again the next day. Russ, Jordan, and Sean(or Shawn) offered great advice on the guitars (sound, quality, woods, tone, pros and cons), and were all very knowledgeable. I spent about 4.5 hours in the shop over Fri and Sat, and when I left Sat with my new Martin, I was 100% confident that I had purchased the guitar that I wanted, that had the sound I was looking for. The Customer service I received at The Music Barn was second to none, even with a busy store and multiple other customers, the staff always made sure to check in and even sit, play, and offer advice. They made it a point to make sure that I bought the instrument "I" wanted, and they went above and beyond to help me make that decision. When I left, I felt that they were just as stoked as I was about the guitar that I was leaving with. When I purchase any more instruments, this will definitely be my go-to shop, even living 3 hours away. read more
