I started at SOR-EP in 2019 as a vocalist and keys player, and left in late 2025 as a vocalist,…read morekeys player, guitarist, bassist, and developing drummer. I started at the Rock 201 level, (level 3 out of 6) and ended in Houseband, a performance based group who played at Summerfest in Milwaukee, the Mall of America, and the Xcel Energy Center at a Wild game. I've loved all of my instructors and their various teaching styles. They offer every aspect of a rock band, including all the instruments mentioned above. Kids are also able to pick from a variety of artists and genres to cover as a band, and make new friends and learn the importance of teamwork. I had the privilege of learning here, and went from fumbling through vocals on "Eye of the Tiger", to absolutely mastering every instrument on "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and teaching a group of younger students how to play it as a band. I've not only improved musically, but also as a person. I've learned the importance of teamwork, respect, hard work, and consistency. I've become a better public speaker and more of an extrovert, but also gained more self awareness, and I firmly believe that my emotional development is easily owed to this program. If your child (or you!) stick with this program, it will definitely be worth your while! Even though the school is aimed at students, adults are also able to receive lessons and there is an adult band! Any level of music education and experience is welcome here, and will be greeted with open arms.

I'm helping a mentor try and sell his bass. I have no idea what it is worth. If he sells it, I…read morewanted it to be to Music Go around because I firmly believe we have to support our local stores. When I sell or purchase something I frequently do it there because I know that they'll give a fair price. Whenever anyone asks me to help sell an instrument. Every time. So my friend is an older fellow and he can't get around to St. Paul easily. So I said I'd find out what Music Go Round would recommend. I made the joke that I want to buy it. 0 chance I could afford what this thing is worth. I'd like to buy a Lamborghini as well, but nobody takes me seriously when I say that either. So explain all of that. The owner's little feelings got hurt because I mentioned that I want the guitar. So he fly out refused to help me. "I don't do market appraisals." So he wouldn't hear me when I tried to explain. It was extremely disrespectful & could have been handled with a little communication. I didn't get that. So this guy is taking the ONLY positive thing about B&H stores and throwing it out the window. Why wouldn't I reach out to Sweetwater to discover something like this? That's the next move. I love the guy you have working there. I think he's in a vest. He has always been kind, cool and professional to me every conversation. It is unfortunate for him that he has to work with this owner. This will sadden me when store inevitably closes, he only has himself to blame. C'mon dude. Build a relationship with your clients. Talk to people. Care a little. You had my full allegiance to your store. But all of that is washed away. Keep people close. I love sending people to Music Go Round but now I'd be embarrassed if you decide you don't like one or my friends.
