The DJ was fine. But the photo booth was unimpressive. It broke down five or six times. Which then we'd have to wait for the DJ to fix it. When our time was up instead of giving us extra time due to the fact that the thing didn't work half the time, We were charged $100 for an extra hour. My husband and I are *those guests* who judge DJs at weddings. When we first saw Kevro, my husband asked me "fire or nah", lol. I took one look at his velvet sports coat and boldly declared, "fire... for SURE", and I wasn't wrong. Kevro DJed my cousin's wedding and was AMAZING. As someone who prioritized finding a great DJ during the wedding planning process, i pay special attention to DJs when I attend as a guest. Kevro was great w announcements & keeping the crowd engaged (he tried to get the best man engaged by talking to him LOL). I feel like a lot of wedding DJs aren't that interesting when they MC, but Kevro was such a dope HYPE MAN. I was cracking up during the announcements of the bridal party, esp when he listed the heights and hometowns of the bride and groom. He was AWESOME at song selection and mixing songs and beats. I loved every single one of his dinner selections. I loved how he got music that got the crowd into it. I can't speak for the bride and groom, but i think they were really happy as wells Oh yeah and I was stoked he took pics of us bc I know he prolly got a bunch of us smiling and happy dancing. Our guests loved him and so many asked where we found him and if he could fly out to Chicago for their future weddings haha. So many of my friends asked me if I made a "playlist" for the reception because it was all songs we loved but nope... it was all Kevin- he totally matched our style! We talked on the phone beforehand so he could get an idea of what we were looking for. This review is long overdue. I got married on 9/21 and Kevin was our DJ/MC. He was absolutely fantastic. He was prompt, courteous, and a true professional. For all of the music during the ceremony, cocktail hour and leading up to the reception, everything went to plan and the music went perfectly. It was one less stress on a very hectic day. During the reception, he was able to read our group and play what people wanted to hear. My partner and I got married Sept 9 and our first priority when wedding planning was to pick a solid DJ. DJ Kevro left a great impression from a previous wedding we'd seen him at, and meeting with him for the first time only confirmed that initial impression. We had our wedding at Serendipity Garden and DJ Rich was our DJ for the night. He was amazing! He perfectly played every song we asked for. During our interview with him, we voiced a few concerns about a couple of songs we had chosen. He said no problem, and made it happen--he mashed up I'll Be There For You by the Rembrandts with Perfect Day by Hoku for our bridal party's grand entrance. He checked in with us throughout the night to see how we were feeling and when to do festivities. He even offered to play a song for us during our sparkler exit. In the last couple of weeks leading up to our wedding, we even texted him a couple of songs we'd like to hear, and I'm pretty sure we heard them all! Kevin from Musical Phunktions is amazing! He went way beyond what was necessary. To give a little background we met Kevin when he was DJing for a friend of our at wedding at Serendipity. He did an amazing job at keeping the mood upbeat, MC-ing, running the wedding, and playing a great mix of music to keep the party going into a night to remember. Fast forward a year when my wife and I got engaged. Kevin was hands down our first and only choice for a DJ for our wedding. We couldn't see it any differently. So we called him up first thing and booked him. Unfortunately due to a communication error with his team, he ended up getting double booked and wasn't able to DJ for our wedding now. We were so bummed, but he referred us another DJ he knew of and was willing to pay $100 towards our fee to book them or anyone else we were to hire to help compensate for the mix up. Well, we called the DJ Kevin refered and they just didn't have the same enthusiasm and confidence talking on the phone as Kevin did, and they weren't as competively priced as musical phunktions. All in all they just weren't a good fit. We called Kevin to see if there was any other referrals he had and told him our reasoning behind not going with them and he apologized for the bad referral. He told us that he specifically looks for people with a great upbeat attitude/personality and customer service skills when hiring people for his team at Musical Phunktions and completely understood why we weren't interested in the referral. Kevin again went the extra mile and told us to give him a couple days to see if he could get someone else to cover his regular gig at Serendipity. (Musical Phunktions is the main DJ company for that venue) Sure enough Kevin pulled some strings and was able to get his gig covered. Kevin was officially our DJ and we couldn't be more excited! He made it happen. Not only was Kevin amazing to work with, but I can't thank him enough for how perfect our wedding was and what a pleasure it was to work with him. He even brought lights which are normally an extra charge to our wedding for free. Kevin strives to make every wedding fun, upbeat, running smooth, and keep the party going with a great attitude, exceptional customer service, and music tailored to the bride/groom and people at each unique wedding. Anyone can play music, but not everyone can set the tone, and keep everything moving smoothly, and inspire confidence so that you as the bride/groom can relax and enjoy your day. This company was hired through our venue. We didn't really have a choice who our dj was unless we decided to hire someone else, which in hind-site we should have done. So anyways, they made us fill out a seven page song request form. This took us HOURS to fill out. I told them exact songs I didn't want played. Well of course he played the exact song I said I didn't want played. Which is so rude and disrespectful to the people that are PAYING THEM. Want to hear something worse? He stopped our first dance song in the middle of the choreographed dance!!!!!!! HE LITERALLY RUINED OUR FIRST DANCE AS HUSBAND AND WIFE HE ALSO MADE US SKIP A DIP WE PRACTICED FOR HOURS!
