It is a great place to get good meat and vegetables. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is great. The food is delicious.

This looks like a favorite local stop, with a meat and three plate. The food was fair, but nothing to brag about. Filling, but not exactly tasteful. It wasn't bad by any means... but definitely room for improvement. I would probably look somewhere else next time, but this will do if it's my only option. read more

We were under the impression that we needed to eat here whenever we arrived in town. Well, I wish we had not stopped. We were not impressed. The sweet potato cassorole was trasty! As was the cucumber salad. The poppy seed chicken was made with "Cream of Something" soup. Not good at all. It was heavy and underwhelming. The cornbread was very dry and there was no butter to help it along. My husband had the creamed corn and he said it was- just 'ok". The volume of food was not necessary as far as I am concerned. Home cooking done right! Service is fabulous and so is the food. Every day's menu features a wide selection of fresh veggies, several different meat selections, salad options as well as a daily dessert. If you love southern cornbread dressing, I highly recommend the chicken and dressing if it's on the menu when you visit. Delicious! The pot roast is also very good. Must Stop used to be top notch. Absolutely the best fried chicken and a great place for Sunday lunch. They rarely have the chicken anymore and are closed on Sundays, except for one Sunday each month. The staff pays attention to those they know (the regulars) and others are given minimal attention. Food is also not as good as it used to be. While the service, atmosphere and waitstaff is wonderful, welcoming and efficient the food needs a lot of work. At my last visit a few weeks ago I had the Catfish, turnip greens, rutabagas and pineapple casserole and none of it was good. The catfish was dry and overcooked, the turnip greens were too greasy, the rutabagas were ok and the pineapple dish was embarrassing, it was nothing but pineapple and a dab of cheese, no cracker crumbs were on it. I had such high hopes for this place but I don't know if I'll ever go back. There are too many other great restaurants in this town that do southern cooking properly. read more

Had Prime Rib Dinner on Friday night. Very good!! Also had cucumber salad and mashed Potato's. Always nice and clean and service was great.

Dally fresh menu of super tasty home cooking. Do not miss the giant drinks or dessert! Daily and weekly specials at a great price! As far as I could tell, everything was amazing - I didn't have room for the complimentary corn bread. There will be a line to order, so go early or you may miss out on a special. We were visiting the area for work and ate lunch there 5 times in 9 days. It became our instant favorite. That's how good it is. read more

I absolutely love The Must Stop Cafe! Everything about the place says down home country right down to the old black and white photographs adorning the walls. The staff are all smiling, happy and welcoming and give excellent service but the best part is the food! Their cornbread dressing is my favorite dish and the chicken and dumplings is great too. Bryant F is an idiot if he doesn't like the pot roast and his "co-worker" is equally idiotic if they didn't like the poppyseed chicken. Stay home Mr F cuz that will just leave more for us who are regulars at Must Stop. These folks are good people who know how to cook. The food is delicious, freshly prepared and served with a smile. Best meat and three. Friday is Chocolate Pie day. Best I have had in 35 years. Macaroni cheese is real and veggies are very good. I never had a meal and walked out hungry and usually take leftovers home. read more

This inviting, clean, happening place exceeded my expectations for good ole southern cooking. We drove from Birmingham and it was well worth the trip. Luckily we got there before it opened and got in line, there were so many people that all tables were occupied as soon as it opened. The friendly staff worked like a well-oiled machine to keep everyone happy and served in this busy place. The food (meat and 3) was delicious (pot roast and country fried steak, peas, sweet potato, turnips, green beans). The prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. One notable mention is the Italian cream cake, it was so flavorful, moist and warm that I'm still thinking about it. read more

The place is PACKED with locals; one of few open for Sunday lunch. But I fail to see its attraction lest the desserts. The pot roast is mushy beef of sparse content, rather filled with overcooked potatoes and carrots. A teammate had "Poppy Seed Chicken" which was equally overcooked and shredded chicken mush served over boiled (not steamed) rice, sprinkled with poppy seeds. The desserts are however splendid.
